New seats

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I am getting older and my back is starting to suck. The old joyner trooper seats were great for their time, but can't compare to what's out there now.

I really liked the stock seats in my wife's wildcat and I was able to pick up 4 of them for $150 used. They lay back about 15 to 20 degrees more than the trooper. I also got rid of the metal plates saving about 30 to 40 lbs total (the wildcat seats are super light). They aren't adjustable, but they are easily removed by just pulling a latch in the back and lifting forward jus like many of the rzr's and wildcats out there. They are really going to save my back.

I modified my entire suspension and my spring rates won't work for a stock set up. I have written a lot about my suspension on this forum and you should be plenty of info if you search. There are others on here that have listed spring rates that work for a stock suspension.

Jeff, I am not selling the other seats yet, but you are first in line if I do.

These seats took way more effort that it was worth to position them to an acceptable position. I already run my seat in as far back as it will go and so I had to figure out how to have them all the way back and leaned back another 20 degrees. I probably lost about an inch of leg room in doing so. They also sat higher and I had to mount them lower and removed my storage box below the drivers seat. I have to build a custom storage box now. The bonus is it will be bigger.

It still would be nice to know what you are running. As far as searching goes, there is a ton of inconclusive information. You can find bits of what people initially tried, but I've yet to find numbers on what someone runs and is satisfied with the results. Now there are a couple of posts with satisfied members running air shocks. Personally I'm not interested in air shocks. Actually I have a buggy I will be selling, but prior to selling I am removing the shocks. I have 3 pair on this particular buggy, one pair of Walker Evans (piggy back), Fox (piggy back) FOA ( remote res), so scratch the brand of shocks, what about springs rates. The rear being the most important, I would hate to buy 4 springs that won't work.

Spring rates I am running:

Front 350 over 225

Rear 550 over 550

Thank you, really appreciate the info. I know I have 2 sets of 350lb and a pair of 200lb springs. I have a pair of 600lb also, so it looks like I have some good stuff for starters. Do you remember your droop percentage?

Does anyone out there have a rear differential for a trooper for sale?
    • By Byron Johnson
Does anyone have a had time starting there utv.
I have a T-Boss 750 and I have had to put 2 starters in and put heavier wire to the starter but it still has a problem starting. it will turn over and than die before it wil turn over again. could it be that there is to much compression that might cause this problem

      Thank you
