  1. Ah man now the direction come out, too late for me. The lousy part was I spoke to Silver bullet and he said he had never heard of anyone shimming the spider gears. I had planned to do that just like I do in other diffs. I sorted thru my shims and found what was need to shim the pinion but didn't see any shims behinde the bearing on the carrier to tighten backlash anymore. Now I wish I just went with my plan and shimmed the spiders. I could have ordered plenty of shims. It is better but not ideal. Hopefully it lasts another few years an I can reset up as I'd like later. Bad thing is I tigged the spider gear shafts to the carrier as per Silver bullet but I could easily dress the weld with an endmill and pull them out

  2. Jeff I didnt find any instructions. I cut the bokts to legth and shimmed the pinion to sit as deep as possible. I realized why these diffs break. They are junk. Lol . I can't shim the carrier to adjust back lash. Well without maching the case to allow for the carrier to move

  3. Ok guys I tore my diff apard anfrer shearing the ring gear bolts. Drug my butt after rearing it down, yesterday while placing a McMaster Carr order I searched the board for the part number and added the bolt s to my normal order. They showed up this morning and I realized they are long , really long. I grabbed a set of calipers and mic'ed the carrier and ring gear and come up with about 16mm in length.

So the question is why in the worldvare the bolts that folks talk about 40mm long ? Are you guys ordering them long so that they have a shank at the top where they go thru the carrier & cutting them off ?

  4. What's the width of the tabs on a stock cage ? Also maximum width of the main hooo before the bend ? I forgot measure this weekend, troopers 250 miles away and was too busy pulling the diff before I left

  5. Well I'm hoping I didn't chip the ring and pinion. By rotating the drive shaft I can see the ring gear turning and I don't feel any rough spots. Nor do I hear any noise when it put it in gear

  6. It appears that I sheared all the ring gear bolts off. I removed the fill plug and I can either push the trooper or rotate the driveline and I can see the carrier rotate separately frim the ring gear. With that in mind what are the odds that the ring and pinion are in decent shape and I can extract the broken bolts. Worst case possibly tig weld a nut or bolt to the broken bolts and . Also who sells the shim /upgrade kit ? Btw inorder to pull the diff do I unbolt the upper part of the spindle and let thw spindle fall to get the axle out ?

  7. True about a king. But an F.O.A 2.5 is $200 & $25 for dual rate hardware. Then springs for about $60. They have been around and are Us based makes me feel better knowing that I can get service. Also if I drop the diffs down and build a shock hoop I can order to length and have more travel. The trooper was decent in 09 compared to a rhino but now it really lacks compared to what else is out there. If I'm spending money it had better be worth it and make it better.
The one argument of the shock hardware is a non issue. I can easily turn a few pieces on the lathe to make adaptors. Even better is to make tabs and tig them on .

  8. If there is room on the price i would be interested. But at that price I'm hesitant to purchase a shock that I'm ccertain they copied and reverse enginered. I'm hesitant because I'm not certain of how they coppied and what corners where cut
