  1. There was an update and now the T is made of steel. I went to Joyner when they were in Tempe and they gave them to us. There was many parts that should have been a recall ( the dealers had a web on parts that were changed) but most of the dealers never let us know. If you were lucky enough to find out, they would give them to you free. Here is a few of the parts I got. Clutch linage, larger rotors, bigger calipers, rubber boots for the steering, new rear fenders, brackets for rear end to be welded on, 2 different rear drive shafts, the last one being like a half shaft, new fuel sending unit, temp gauge, etc.

  2. Hi all Trooper owners,

I had my machine out for a 5 day ride that turned into a near disaster. I was with one of my clubs and we were going up the back road (read rock crawling challenge) to Crown King a small town in the AZ mountains. About 18 miles into a 24 mile trip up the mountain a radiator fitting exploded into the back of the seats. We were lucky we weren't seriously burned.

What happened was about a 3/4 inch piece blew out of the radiator "T" coming out of the water pump ( part No, 02.S650.04.02.02 S650.04.02.02.00 Tee branch 1). T. It was nip and tuck to get up to Crown King where we were headed. We were able to find the piece that blew out and we taped the T back together Luckily there was a stream nearby. I would stop at the water crossings and fill up the radiator, run until the engine got hot and stop at the next stream crossing and repeat the process. One of the guys that was camping with us drove up from our campsite to haul me back to camp. For him it was about a 125 mile round trip.

The part is made of hard rubber and it would be good if you check yours for any signs of cracks. My wife was with me and unfortunately it may be the end of my Trooper days.

  3. Hey Jere, can I buy that piniion gear out from under Rocmoc? I have a feeling that once he gets up some mod momentium, he could blow right by me. Can't let that get buy lightly. Kinarfi and I are planning to go to check out the trails south of Hanksville, Ut in about 1 week. You interested in joining us for a few days of exploratory canyon country fun. Anyone one else for that matter too. If we like what we find, we may choose this location for this years Joyner Jamboree 2011.

Hi Lenny things are not going as planned. I am in Toronto Canada for a wedding for three weeks then I am heading back to Canada. I have traded one of our Joyners off for a mini excavator. I am not sure what I'll bring down next year. I tried to meet up when you were in Nevada but things went wrong again. I got a piece of steel in my left up add so far I have lost about half the vision of my left eye. I call you when I get back to Canada. Jerry

  4. Hi Snowbird. I to am fro, BC and it seems like these Troopers were built for our area in mind, I have been having a lot of fum with it and she's been working fine, the only problem I hav had so far was it started missing after repeated soakings and after driving in approx 8 to 12 inches of snow all day my motor comparment got packed with snow and my throttle got stuck open, that was interesting, cleaned it out and finished the day.

Being winter I hav not had any heat problems yet, I have seen the pics of guys that have moved their rads up but I don't like how that looks, I am wondering if anyone has plumbed in a smaller secondary rad and had sucess in this area regarding the running hot problem.

Also I my Trooper is a 09 but still has the solenoid 4X4 shift, I am trying to figure out if the rear and front diff upgrade was done by Joyner I jacked it up with all four tires in the air and I can move any tire back and forth approx 4 to 6 inches (Free Play) does any know if this seems right or is it excessive

    Thanks

    BC Trooper

Hi what part of BC are you at. My machine is 2008 so many things were fixed for 2009. The first Joyners had two different drive shaft replacements as they had bad ujoints. I replaced my rear half shafts as I was having a lot of play back and forth and it turned out to be a bad ujoint and my crown gear was loose. They also have a rearend problem with the crown gear bolts coming loose. It is best to read all the things and you'll see the issues. I have a ton of spare parts, so if you are looking give me a call at "Removed by mod, Please send PM. Not safe to post personal info on an open forum, Sorry". or if you want to pick my brain about the Joyner give me a call. Jerry

  5. I"m interested in 1 front rim (for a spare tire), do you still have one? What's the price?

I have one rear rim that has a little more off set . It should work for the front. It would work to get you home as long as you are not jumping the buggy. The stock rims are a full set and do not want to break them up. I want fifty dollars for the rim . I believe it is a ITP rim. Sorry about the delay in replying as I was on the road. Jerry

  6. Reply and I'll post and alphabetize by main items

Hi I have some Tropper 2 parts.

    2 used rear fenders red

    2 new rear fenders red

    2 front stock rims

    2 rear stock rims

a complete set of smaller rotors and calipers

a stock rear roll cage that goes over the motor

    rear tail lights

I am looking for a rear end less crown and pinion, need spider gear washer and pin

I,ll be heading to Arizona around the 1st of Oct. and could bring parts down as I live in Kamloops BC Canada

  7. My dad just purchased a used T2 and it has issues. It overheats quickly (went around the block twice)... Not sure if it is the thermostat or pump. Is the thermostat a part that can be picked up at an auto parts store, or do I need to order one from JMC? Also, when in two wheel drive, it does a clanging and banging routine. If I lock the rear differential in 2wd it does not. I assume this is what I have read about regarding the differentials. If you could give me some direction I would appreciate it. Thanks. Tyler

Hi I have a couple of 2008 with heating problems. I found that the fans were running backwards from what I believe is correct. I changed both of them to flow out the back of the Trooper instead of sucking air towards the engine. I also spaced the fan out about 3/4 of a inch. which changed the amount of air flow about ten times the original amount. I use a water wetter with a 50% antifreeze mixture. One other problem is they will air lock. To get all the air out of the system you need to disconnect the small water line (about 1/4 inch) that starts around the thermostat housing and goes into a T with two larger hoses, drivers side. You need to remove the hose at the T and hold it in the air above the motor while holding your finger over the hose barb to keep the coolant in. Now you need to get some one to top off the rad. This sounds like your biggest problem to me. I changed the Plastic T at the front of the engine by the water pump and had problems heating up until I got the air out of the system. It only takes a small about of water extra but it really works. My trooper would heat running at a idle until I did this. The reason for changing the plastic T was they were breaking and Joyner gave me the new steel ones for free. The problem is that no one was telling me about upgrades, my dealer always said he new nothing about them and they were not having any problems with anything. I guess I picked the wrong dealer. I also put a oil cooler and a manual guage on one of the troopers but later found out the manual guage was reading about 25 degrees too hot. I do not think I needed the oil cooler for the way I use my machine but with the bad temp guage I was willing to try anything. If you try the tips I left you at the top I think your problem will go away.

  8. Just washed the Trooper, gets one bath a year, LOL (just kidding, it gets at least two). It is incredible how much the color has faded. Keep in mind my Trooper is stored in an enclosed garage out of the sunlight. The only time it sees the sun is when it is on a ride. I do plan to paint it this next year but still the finish only lasted two years. On it positive note, it still looks GOOD!

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexi

I have a red one which is stored inside and the hood is very faded. My son has a blue one and it hasn't faded at all.

  9. I've had a few problem with my CVs because they pulled apart due to the circlip coming off, If all you had was a ripped boot, I suggest you pull it apart and clean it real good and see if any thing is missing or cracked inside, I have one that lost one of it's balls,:o(no comments allowed, boys) !!! If you find any thing during cleaning and inspection, let me know and if I have it, I'll send it to you.

    Kinarfi

PS, look at Parts, Pieces, and Information for our Troopers & Joyners - UTV BOARD - Side X Side and UTV Forum for boot replacement numbers and suppliers.

Food for thought I messed up a cv joint on my atv. I miked the only bearing I had left then I went to my local bearing house and ask which bearing came with that size of ball. It came from a common bearing such as a 6205. I purchased the bearing for under ten bucks. When I got home I zipped cut the bearing a part and then I used the balls in my cv joint. That was about five years ago. No problems yet.

  10. So far the failed rear wheel bearing (and limping home with a wobble) has cost me a rear bearing, hub, axle and now the last thing I found (I hope!) a rim. I went to put the wheel back on after I thought I was finished with the repair and the stud holes are veeerryyy egg shaped!!

Anyone have an original equipment rear (14x8) rim to sell? I would also trade for a pair of almost new Dunestar paddles, 26-10-12 (tires only).

I have a complete set of stock rims, but I am not sure if I want to split them up. I think I have another rear rim that is not stock will have to check when I get home.

  11. If ya don't mid me asking what happened to yours? If you are in a pinch and you can't get one from Arlington or any where else I would take it to any fab weld shop and have them duplacate it for me.

I have all the stock fenders in red as i built my own

  12. I have had this happen a couple of times now and it's getting to be a pain. What happens is the breather filter is always wet with oil and it runs out and down all over every thing. I did about a mile of 58 mph, 6000 rpm and then put it on the trailer and notice it had dropped oil all over under the engine. Earlier in the ride I came down some hills and worked the engine in compression and was getting clouds light blue smoke. I'm worried that I may need a ring job because of the blow by and smoke. And earlier, oil had been sucked into the manifold. To protect the manifold from getting filled up with oil again, the tube that goes from the valve cover to the manifold has a bottle in the line with vac coming off the top and line from the valve cover going to the bottom of the bottle. To protect my frame from getting oiled, I plan to run a hose from the breather down and out, maybe through another catch bottle.

    Any ideas or suggestions? Please.

    Kinarfi

This probably probably stems from their poor air filter. It sounds like a ring job to me snowbird

  13. You are not going to get any help from Joyner, they are gone / out of business for now. You will have to get your part from another dealer's stock or make the part yourself. There are a couple dealers on this site. Hopefully they will step up and contact you.

What part do you need as I bought a bunch of stuff from joyner?? snowbird

  14. I have been checking ebay every couple days or so since I purchased my trooper and there has been a few more Joyners as well as parts listed recently but really not that many. The place I purchased mine from in December has listed a few more than what he had on there a few days ago.He is the one you will find listing in Phoenix.

I have been at Joyner Tuesday and the doors are still open but not for long. They are taking inventory on Friday. I have purchased a bunch of parts. If you talk to Allan he will give you a deal on parts if he has lots of the part in stock. Toy Junkies is also buying up a bunch of parts.TOYJUNKIES phone number is 480-813-0273. 3164 S Country Club Dr. Mesa AZ, 85210. He said he will be trying to change over sensors part number to USA numbers. Seems like a very nice guy and said he would help us out. You can still buy parts internationally, UK is one of them. They also said that there was someone looking at the place but are not saying too much about it. I hope this information will help you out. I am lucky as they are about a 1 and 1/2 away from my winter home. Snowbird

  15. Thanks for the help and pics, I noticed on other posts that some people were having problems with fan blowing in the wrong direction. So I decided to check mine. It appears that my trooper is blowing away from the radiator. Is this right? Shouldn't be blowing air towards it?

The fan should pull the air through the rad, heading from front to rear. This is the natural way the air flows while driving, other wise the fan would be fighting against the natural air flow. Snowbird

  16. I am also new, My trooper only had about thirty miles on it before it over heated. Since buying my trooper a month ago I've had problems from the time it got off loaded from the truck. With shifting gears. It appears the colder it is outside the harder it is to shift sometime not even able to shift into first or second. First time plowing my driveway it over heated. Second time plowing driveway, bracket where plow is screwed into bolt holes gave away causing plow to smash into steering rods snapping one. Joyner is sending parts to fix steering. I live in NH and we do not have a dealer or authorized repair shop. The only supposed repair shop told me he doesn't do work for Joyner. Dealer from GA where I bought it from told me to take it to local repair shop and they will take care of it. Let's see how that goes.

    Welcome to the forum.

You could try a lighter oil in the transmission for the cold weather or better yet change it to a good full synthetic oil. The pour point for a good 80/90 gear lube is a fair bit lower then your normal gear lube. Amsoil 75/90 synthetic gear lube pour point is -50 degrees. The information on the web site states that it helps for cold weather shifting.

For the over heating you should make sure your cooling system is full. There is a small hose coming off the end of the block by the thermostat (closest to the front of the buggy). Follow the hose to where it goes into the tee. Take the hose off at the tee and lift it higher then the motor and fill the rad. You will need two persons to do this as anti freeze will leak unless some one holds their finger over the port where you removed the hose. I would install a new hose clamp as the ones they use are not the best. The trooper seems to have a air lock problem unless you fill the system in this manner. The other thing to do is to add a water wetter to your rad. Walmart has one for around $6.00. Royal purple also makes one. This will help a bit for the over heating problems. Snowbird

  17. We tried snapping a chain and that didn't work so we hooked up a 1 1/2 ton come along in the same manner as you did and could not move it. After about 4 hours we called Joyner and they told us they use a slide hammer. Not having any material at my Arizona home to make a slide hammer, is when we decided to try the 4 inch. grinder. After reading this forum I see we all are having the same kind of problems and are coming up with different fixes. This is what is so great about the forum. :D snowbird

  18. Brostar,

We made a monster of a slide bar and still couldn't budge the dang thing. It's stuck in there good!

I had the same problem with the rear drive shaft. We could not get it off the transmission. Joyner uses a large slid hammer with an adapter that fits over the yoke. We had to zip cut the yoke off just where the end of the transmission shaft ends. This was hard to do in place. We had to use a 4 inch grinder with no guard on it. Then we had to grind some small nails down and tap them under the clip. After a half a dozen hours we finally got it off. The grooves are either too deep or the groove has too square off an edge. snowbird

  19. I am new to this forum. I too am a trooper owner and have one of the first ones off the line. I have spend more time working on my buggy then driving it. I have done many changes too, most are the same problems as the rest of the trooper owners. One of my main complains is that the dealer I purchased my trooper at does not give me any support. I'll ask about a problem and he more or less tells me that no one else is having the problems, but when I go to Joyner they give me the part for free to repair my trooper. My trooper only has 2300 miles on it and I have street tires on it. All my miles are on the pavement or on a good logging road. I do not drive my trooper as if I stole it. Mostly on logging roads in BC Canada. I use my trooper for hunting and site seeing. I am sure I am not the only one having heating problems while driving at a rpm over 3500 rpm. I am putting a oil cooler on it as I speak. I am now getting a lot of slack in the rear end. My front drive shaft york is very loose on the spline. I will be going to Joyner next week to see what they will do for me. They have given me replacement parts such as a rear drive shaft, all new braking system, clutch linkage , rear fenders. So far Joyner has treated me pretty decent. We will see what happens. I,ll let you know. snowbird
