  1. Just bought brand new 850 side kick but seriously thinking of chopping the top to lower the top 8 inches. So it fits in enclosed trailer and through some doorways. Any thoughts on this? My wife thinks I’m nuts.
  2. I recently purchased a new Kubota RTV520. When i try to start it i have to do the cold start procedure every time. Once it is running for a few minutes i can restart it without any issues. The cold start procedure is turn the key to start position and let the fuel injection system turn on and stop. Crank for 10 seconds and if the unit doesn’t start, turn off and repeat the process 30 seconds later. If it hasn’t been used for a week and i try to start it i have to repeat the cold start procedure at least 3 times until i get a successful start. The dealer says this is normal and its not a malfunction on the engine. I feel like its weird for a new machine to have this starting routine. I live in south Texas so the weather is not extremely cold. Is ANYBODY having this problem? I am contemplating returning the UTV but i want to know if this is a common problem with the new 520 model.
  3. I have a 2014 RTV 1140 CPX and the assembly cover port block part # K7611-14603 needs replacement. It is very expensive and is part of the transmission in the rear. Looking for a used transmission or used transmission parts. Any ideas welcome and appreciated. Thanks, CJ
  4. I bought a storage box for under the hood. It came with no brackets or instructions, and it is not obvious how to secure it to the frame. Perhaps someone here with one installed can enlighten me. Maybe some pix of the mounting points? Anything before I start drilling would be appreciated. Thx
  5. I have a 2005 RTV900. If I put it in 2WD the motor just revs, if I step on the diff lock it runs fine. In 4WD it moves fine too. However it does seem to be down on power in uphill climbs in the 4WD setting. Any ideas? I was going to put it in the air on all corners and see what I’m getting. I’m suspecting that without the diff lock engaged I’m getting no rear drive, but with it engaged I’m only getting one rear wheel engaging. If that’s the case does it point to a bad axle in the rear? Also with the 4WD engaged is the front a limited slip? It seems like only one side of the front end is rotating whether the other side is slipping or not.

  9. How much up and down movement or play is in the steering wheel of the kubota sidekick?
  10. hey guys, I have a 04 kubota900 with bad front struts. I was wondering if there was a different strut i can use other than kubota? i hate that there $340 a piece, just wondering if there is some kind of cross reference number? Thanks,
  11. I am posting my challenges with replacement tires so others do not go down the same path . I was looking for some DOT rated 10 ply tires for a Kubota RTV 1100 getting a Boss V-plow installed on it to get a weight rating of UTV + Plow + payload. I thought the GBC Motorsports Kanati Mongrel Radial Tire (25x10R-12) was just what was needed. Ordered them in - got them mounted professionally - attempted a balance, received a call from the service center requesting a visit to see for myself why they stopped the install. Picked up the machine and its unsafe to operate. The amount of lift and drop is extreme. We lifted the machine and rotated each tire while mounted and got readings of 75% of tread fairly consistent and round 25% drops in almost 1/2" to more than 1/2". We attempted to use the tire index yellow dots in line with valve stem and opposite valve stem - no significant improvement. GBC will not or cannot give indexing information. Working thru the return process now but not holding my breath - Dealer and Manufacture both state since they are mounted they cannot be returned. I dont know how without mounting i would find the defects. So from my perspective stay away from teh GBC Mongrels on the Kubota RTV's If you do buy them don't expect them to stand behind their product. You can expect the hassle of mounting, un-mounting, re-mounting, attempting a balance for a tire that turns at slow speeds. Expect they will want video's of all 4 corners, and than expect that it will take you two weeks to even get noticed..... Don't expect your dealer can do much more for you as GBC controls the process so I have been told. So spend a little more money and buy a brand you have heard of.
  12. Hi there! I'm a total newbie to the market and am not even sure if I'm posting this in the right forum area. I'm looking for a side-by-side machine that can handle lots of light farm/homestead work. I've focused on the Kubota 400ci and the John Deere Gator TS. Both are right in my price range (less than $10K). I'm leaning toward the Kubota because: -Kubota has zero percent financing, compared to JD's current rate of 4.5 percent -It's 4x4, whereas that's an expensive upgrade for the Gator. Things that are important to me: -Dump bed. This is a necessity, and the stronger the better. I'll be hauling firewood, dirt, lots of kids, etc. -Ability to pull a trailer, which will often be loaded with firewood and other supplies. -Ability to get out of the mud. This is why 4x4 is important to me. I may eventually add a snow blade, but not right now. -Low maintenance and low maintenance costs. I can change oil, belts and plugs, but I would rather not do anything more than that. Things that are not important to me: -Top end speed. I have no real need for anything to go over 20 mph. Sure it would be fun, but I don't want it to affect the decision. -Super sporty looks. I like the look of both the Kubota and Gator, so that's not really a deal breaker. The only real concerns I have about the Kubota is the CVT transmission. Perhaps it's great, but I assume it's much more expensive to fix that the simple belt-driven Gator. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
