Sand viper 650 new piston

Hello.

New to this forum and glad to find it. So i have bought a Joyner sand viper 650, 2008 with low compression. I took the motor out and checked the pistons and the ring gap was to big plus the engine had pinged so the upper part of the piston was bad.

So i ordered a new piston set with pistons, rings and pins. But here comes the problem, the new piston has no gap for the c-clip but the old piston had...? Why that? The pin floates perfect in both piston and rod shaft so it can wander away and hit the cylinder walls.

Anyone that has come across the same problem? Im not new when it comes to mechanic but has never come across this problem before.

Hope you understand what i mean, i tried my best.

does it use a C clip on both sides or just the one?

No C clip in any side, there is no place for a clip. The solution that i have come up with is to lathe 4 ptfe plastic ends for the pins. There seemes to be no other good solution to this.

      does anyone have any knowledge of these clutchless automatic manual shift utvs? I have a 4 seater 4x4 650 that the wiring has been butchered and there is no longer a shifter knob. I'm just curious to know if anyone has a wiring diagram or any knowledge of these units without a clutch pedal and are electric shifted and not cable gear driven

      Hey all, some of you know i’m currently working on an engine swap for my 800cc (non brand). For argument sake it’s identical to the older (2006) sand viper in parts.
      For those who have done an engine swap I could really use your help are you using whole donor vehicle axles or are you cutting and  connecting the donor vehicle  axles to the Joyner axles via sleeves? 
      If I use the donor vehicle axles they would be stronger but then I’m having to replace hubs, bearing and probably knuckles brakes etc. So i’m considering welding the donors to the joyner’s so I do not have to replace everything, but i’m not sure if they would be strong enough.
      Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

      Sorry if this is not the place to post for sale.  I could not find Joyner for sale forum.  For those that do not know the Joyner, these are $12K new retail.  I just purchased this one last year and only has 139.4 miles.  
      1000cc with 5 speed manual transmission. Can be street legal. Already has all equipment installed. 4x4 or 2wd. Winch, LED lights.  These seem more popular in the Southwest for desert riding, but we had a great time riding with our family here in NC and WV on trails and our land. It is my understanding the engine is the same engine that is in the John Deere Gator. These have super large suspension and axles. I cannot think of any other unit you can buy at this price and have 4 seats and do what this one does. I also liked that I could teach my kids how to drive a manual.   email me at [email protected]

      Looking for a output shaft for a Joyner trooper t2. Went to move the buggy after sitting all winter and it appears the out put shaft that drives the rear wheels broke off inside the transmission so looking for the shaft or a complete transmission if someone has one

      I recently got a 2006 Joyner 650cc Commando. It was not running when i got it.
      I put a new fuel pump and alternator and is up and running.
      My problem is when I originally got it started it seemed I didn't have 1st gear.  I was able to get it moving from 2nd and was sure I got it into 3rd.
      In my process of diagnosing the first gear issue and I realize I have first gear because it is where I thought 3rd gear was. But now I don't seem to have 3rd or 4th gear.
      The shifter itself seems sloppy and needs a little rehab if that is possible. Replacement available?
      Cables are worn so I don't know if they have too much play to properly shift. Can't seem to find any cables available to replace. 
      Can someone tell me which cable should be first and second and 3rd and 4th? One is black and the other is red.
      Ultimately it may be a transmission problem internally.
      As long as I have 1st and 2nd the machine will work for me going through the woods picking up wood.
      Any help is greatly appreciated.
      New to this if you can't tell.

      1100cc, 800cc and 650cc New Cam Shafts. There was a demand to bring them back so we did. They are set up with a slight change in duration, and have more timing in them to bump up that low end torque we all need and are hardcoated to reduce the wear on the cam. These really are the next step or a good start in the build of your engine. For the 800 and 1100 guys, snorkel, fuel controller, cams, pistons...boost.. For the 650 guys, snorkel, cams, pistons, custom carb setup...boost. We have N/A and Forced Induction profiles available. We are currently planning a build on our shop renegade to build an 1100 with the snorkel, new throttle body, super charger, ported and lightly polished heads, oversized pistons, we are looking for oversized valves and better valve springs. Looking to build a beast that is reliable. All of this has been in the works for months, that way we can pass it all on to you.       I made the costly mistake of letting a friend of mine drive my 1100 Sand Viper a couple months ago, and ended up with a cracked frame. I was already planning on moving up to something bigger, so this was the tipping point.
      I'm parting out what I have left. I had converted it to VW power (1915cc), so many parts have been modified to accommodate VW parts and may no longer work on your stock setup. If you're interested in switching over to a VW setup, I most likely have the parts you'll need and can answer questions regarding what was done to accomplish the conversion.
      I'm located in San Diego.
      Here's a list of what I have:
      Suspension
      King 2.0 Coilovers with remote reservoir (set of 4 with all required hardware) $1500. Details as follows:
      12" travel
      Primary spring rate front = 150 lb/in
      Secondary spring rate front = 150 lb/in
      Primary spring rate rear = 300 lb/in
      Secondary spring rate rear = 300 lb/in
      Droop = 40%
