Sand viper 650 new piston

Hello.

New to this forum and glad to find it. So i have bought a Joyner sand viper 650, 2008 with low compression. I took the motor out and checked the pistons and the ring gap was to big plus the engine had pinged so the upper part of the piston was bad.

So i ordered a new piston set with pistons, rings and pins. But here comes the problem, the new piston has no gap for the c-clip but the old piston had...? Why that? The pin floates perfect in both piston and rod shaft so it can wander away and hit the cylinder walls.

Anyone that has come across the same problem? Im not new when it comes to mechanic but has never come across this problem before.

Hope you understand what i mean, i tried my best.

No C clip in any side, there is no place for a clip. The solution that i have come up with is to lathe 4 ptfe plastic ends for the pins. There seemes to be no other good solution to this.

I expect they misidentified the parts that you needed.  Going to have to talk to your supplier and get them replaced.  That's the problem with ATVs and UTVs.  You're stuck with being your own shop.  Piston sets without C-clips have a press fit pin in the connecting rod (as you probably know).

Yes i know but then the radie in the connecting rod should be smaller than the piston but its not, its exactly the same. I think they dont now what they are selling. I asked them how i supposed to do and they answear me that i should ask a proffesional mechanicer. What a f**k! 

But the teflon plugs are ordered, i did a drawing in CAD and gave them to a forge (or what its called) shop to get them fixed to me. So i hope i get them soon so i can drive some miles this year.

I'm trying to make something that will work as well or even better than the RZR Rino etc. At this time the front has 14" travel rear has 16" of travel.       Submitted for your approval, my 2009 Joyner T2 1100.  I'm only selling it because I recently purchased a Kawasaki Teryx, and the Mrs says one has got to go.  I was the 3rd owner I believe.  It is definitely used, but I have tried to maintain it to the best of my abilities.  I would say it is in fair shape for the years and the miles.  The thing runs and sounds great.  It always turns heads at every group ride I've ever been on.  It has 30" maxxis zilla tires all the way around, except for the spare,  fairly new wheel bearings all the way around, and a fuel controller from SilverBullet so you don't have to worry about the O2 sensors or any of that nonsense.  Any questions please feel free to DM me here.  I know this is a new account.  I hadn't been on the boards for a couple years and cant seem to recover my old login.  I used to go by ILFarmerT2 and got a lot of good info from the joyner board.  I am hoping to get $3000 for this rig.   Machine is located in East Central Illinois.   Thank you.

      I’m not a mechanic so I don’t really know where to look for the problem and I can’t find a local shop or person to help diagnose the problem. I’m located in Southern California. So my Viper won’t shift into 3rd or 4th but 1st 2nd and reverse work fine. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks

      THEY ARE HERE!!!
      1100cc, 800cc and 650cc New Cam Shafts. There was a demand to bring them back so we did. They are set up with a slight change in duration, and have more timing in them to bump up that low end torque we all need and are hardcoated to reduce the wear on the cam. These really are the next step or a good start in the build of your engine. For the 800 and 1100 guys, snorkel, fuel controller, cams, pistons...boost.. For the 650 guys, snorkel, cams, pistons, custom carb setup...boost. We have N/A and Forced Induction profiles available. We are currently planning a build on our shop renegade to build an 1100 with the snorkel, new throttle body, super charger, ported and lightly polished heads, oversized pistons, we are looking for oversized valves and better valve springs. Looking to build a beast that is reliable. All of this has been in the works for months, that way we can pass it all on to you.       Hey Everyone,
      I made the costly mistake of letting a friend of mine drive my 1100 Sand Viper a couple months ago, and ended up with a cracked frame. I was already planning on moving up to something bigger, so this was the tipping point.
      I'm parting out what I have left. I had converted it to VW power (1915cc), so many parts have been modified to accommodate VW parts and may no longer work on your stock setup. If you're interested in switching over to a VW setup, I most likely have the parts you'll need and can answer questions regarding what was done to accomplish the conversion.
      I'm located in San Diego.
      Here's a list of what I have:
      Suspension
      King 2.0 Coilovers with remote reservoir (set of 4 with all required hardware) $1500. Details as follows:
      12" travel
      Primary spring rate front = 150 lb/in
      Secondary spring rate front = 150 lb/in
      Primary spring rate rear = 300 lb/in
      Secondary spring rate rear = 300 lb/in
      Droop = 40%
