  1. I'm using an outdoor bluetooth speaker mounted overhead on the cross member. The internal battery lasts about 2 hours at high volume, but I can also power it from the UTV if I want to run a wire.  I was planning to wire it into the electrical, but haven't really needed to yet.  Everything I listen to is on my phone... music, podcasts, etc; and I already happened to have the speaker.  It was a quick and easy way to get a sound system going, and it has worked well for about 5 years now.

  2. I'm amused by the fact that my "little" 2016 Sector 250 tops out at about 43mph with my 250 lb butt driving it and is quicker than my brother-in-law's new Axis 550 (with 200 lbs driver); which tops out at about 37mph.  I easily win the "run and get the mail" and "take out the garbage" races; but the 550 4x4 is a beast in the woods and off trail (which is why it gets to go to deer camp, and the 250 stays at home).

My Sector 250 isn't stock, btw.  I replaced the ECU with an older, higher revving ECU that HiSun USA pulled out of all the "too fast" first year 2015 models and changed the rear sprocket (2 teeth smaller...  42 to 40 I think, if I remember correctly).

  3. Are you absolutely positive that the tank is full?  I thought I was having the same problem with my 250 Sector when I first got it, until I filled it up to the point where gas was just about to start over flowing.  Then the gauge showed full.

  4. Fun Dad,
I bought an ECU for my 250 off eBay with the intention of sending it to Matt for reprogramming, but it came with original firmware on it.  My buggy nows revs up to around 9000 RPM before electronic rev limit starts stuttering.  My top speed has increased, but I'm not sure how much yet.  I haven't let it "stretched it's legs" completely out yet.

  5. I used to work on snowmobiles a lot (before moving south) and their exhaust pipes are held together with the same type of exhaust springs.  I have a couple different "spring removal / installation" tools, but none of them are quite like that.  You might want to patent that bad boy!

I can get the 2015 ECU, but its pretty easy to just send me yours and I will re-flash it for you. I normally charge up to $100 for this, as a new ECU is about $344.00. You would only need to purchase a new ECU if you wanted a stock one and a modified one to exchange.  I will do it for $80.00 for any customers from this site.

What's the turn-around time for getting the ECU re-flashed?  Can you re-flash it the same day you get it, and send it back out that day or the next?

  7. I'm not trying to ring every ounce of speed out of the little 250.  If that was the case, I'd start by losing some weight, lol.

It's that electronic cut-out / stutter that drives me crazy.  If it only went 30mph, but sounded like it was running right, I probably wouldn't even bother.
It might be a different story if I line up against someone in a different Sector 250 and they dust me, but that won't happen, I don't think.

  8. I just purchased a new (5 miles on it) 2016 Sector 250 that has the same electronic spark cut-out at 7000 rpm / 30mph.  Ugh...  hate that sound.
The gauge's "red line" is 9500-10000, although I doubt that would be safe for the little engine that could...  What is the safest RPM these 250's can run?

  9. How do you remove the seat bottom?  If it's like most bench seats, you just pull up on it to detach the fasteners, but I don't want to break anything if that's not correct.
I've pulled up on mine, but it's either holding tighter than I'm willing to pull without knowledge of what I'm dealing with, or that's not how it's attached.

Owners Manual doesn't mention how to remove the seat.  It only says "remove seat" in a few places.
