  1. Innsuranc3e adjuster contacted them (Bob?), response was not available. I've seen posts that indicate the quality is just not there on the new parts.
  2. I am also looking for Joyner parts or actually a parts vehicle. I need a buildable 2009 or so TrooperII 2 seater 1100,or at least a main frame assembly with a title and a left control arm. A builder or frame must have a clean and clear title. Insurance company is totaling mine after I dropped it in a 6 foot deep ditch sideways and bent the frame bad enough to bend my custom half-door, bust the windshield and shove the left wheel back 6 inches. I am currently 50 miles from Reno Nv but will travel most of the west within 5-600 miles to pick up. We should be leaving for Quartzsite Arizona in a few weeks so I am also interested in any in that area. I would appreciate any tips on any dead or wrecked Troopers for sale, I need to prove to the insurance company that their salvage price is too high if I can, and need parts.
  3. Donald 1968: Did you finally get your issue fixed on your trooper? If so what was the final fix? California Nut Case: Did you ever find anyone to work on your Joyner, and if not what part of Cali are you in? I am a retired auto mechanic and live 30 minutes from Carson City Nv. I bought my trooper because it is an automotive powertrain and I know I can fix it, modifying to use more common parts (ie Honda) when I need to. If you are fairly close I may be able to help.
  4. Not a bad looking rig, Rebel. You would think with as many of these engines as there are in the states in various different Joyners, Oreions, and whatever else has the Chery 1100 there would be performance parts available like cams etc. . I'm sure we could send our cams to Somebody like Isky or Crower and have them reground to a more aggressive profile. From what I have read they don't turbocharge well, but can be supercharged and respond better to supercharging. I made my living as a mechanic for years, and a parts guy before that, so I have to wonder what other parts will actually work in these engines. I haven't been in deep sand like dunes in my T2 yet, but I am interested in how it's going to do, sand may turn out to be the terrain that slows me down. the wife and kids all want to go to Sand Mountain, but we don't have paddles. I think the Mongrels on my machine might work ok in sand, but I don't know about the tires on the wife's machine for sand. Sand Mountain is nothing compared to the Algodones Dunes where I used to run in the 90s, but it is all blow-sand and it may mean paddles are a necessity.
  5. As one of those older persons I understand the challenges you mention. I never pictured myself as the guy that would be driving a minivan, but we just bought our second, because they have a flat floor and are easy for the wife and I to get in and out of for us. That being said, the wife and I both have our own off-road machines a CanAm Commander(hers) and a Trooper 2 (mine) and because they are higher than cars they are easy enough for us to get into. The individuals with the mobility issues need to physically try getting in and out of different UTVs. They may find it easier to get in and out of something like my T2 than a passenger car. My wife and I had a Chevy Malibu that was hard for me to get in and out of and I would be in pain driving after 30-45 minutes, but I have no issues with my T-2 or her Commander. I know all of the lines pretty much have a flat floor machine similar to the Polaris Rangers, so the best thing you can do is head out to the dealers and try getting in and out of different machines, like Travis stated. Or there is a better idea, somewhere near you is an area where people congregate to ride, go there, talk to other people face to face, I think you'll find them friendly and willing to let you try getting in their machines without the pressure involved with being at a dealer. Good Luck, Dave.
  6. It was my pleasure, Rebel. I had to go look up the Reeper to find they are different from the T2 quite a bit. I see on the site that the Reeper is an 812cc Chery engine. to me that means it should be fairly easy to upgrade your engine by going to the same engine as the T2, the Chery 1100. They're available on Ebay new and complete. I don't know for sure, but I would imagine the 1100 will bolt to the same transmission. Where you could run into problems though is length, logically like Geos the 4 cylinder is longer and the length could prove problematic.
  7. At almost 5 years I would have to say that's an understatement. I don't know what the outcome ended up, however I have a guy I know that I need to meet, my buddy says he has a 2300 ford in a T2 Joyner. I know what you can do with the 2.3 Ford, they use to graft them into VW buggies and Baja Bugs in the day when air cooled ruled off road. I assume the Reeper is a later year variant after Joyner USA folded? I just bought my T2 in January after the wife's used $17,000 2019 CanAm 4seat 1000R started it's life as a shop rat the second day we had it. It's not really that bad just a combination of bad luck and timing, after it goes into the shop I use mid April, it should be a pretty decent getter. When it came to a UTV for me, I decided there were only two choices: Joyner, or Tomcar. As a retired mechanic who has done some interesting custom work, the car powertrain of the Joyner is a no-brainer. And as a Veteran the military background of the TomCar has it's appeal. TomCar was founded by a veteran who served in the Middle Eastern Theater and considered the reliability of the common UTVs on the market dismal. They just plain look rugged too, saw a couple in Quartzsite while we were there. My thought on a re-power leans toward a Mazda rotary, they're fairly lightweight, can make ungodly amounts of power, and being able to hit 22,000 rpm takes care of the top end problem from the super low gearing the T2 has, but I don't know if I want to drive a T2 over 100 mph.
  8. What part of the country are you in?
  9. Well now I look like an idiot, totally missed your posting the offset for the 14x6. I'd like to find out what the offset is on the 14x8 and the maximum inside offset is you can run on the front before tie rod interference. I want to compile a list of other machines that have wheels that we can use/ interchange. It would be a good reference when you see used wheel tire packages for a different machine at a sweet price. It's always nice to be able to have a couple different sets of tires and wheels on hand for different terrain.
  10. Five T2s ? You are a man that must really appreciate the uniqueness of these things. You must also have a wealth of knowledge about the machine as well. Do you happen to know what the back-spacing is on the original wheels like he posted the picture of, both the 14x6 and 14x8? I have searched high and low trying to unearth that information.
