  1. Brostar,

Just tried agin and message will not go through.I just wanted to make sure you got the latest info. Also wanted to give you the details about the ATV rentals if you needed them. They have two places they recommend to rent ATV's from. The first is a place called rentrtoyz.com and they are in Anaheim Ca 714 240-7666,they also rent RV's from what i understand and the other is from a guy by the name of Bobby from what they told me and his number is 714 296-2303. Hope you can make it in April.

Hey Rick, sorry about that. I’m not too sure what’s going on, but I have just deleted a lot more messages and sent you a PM. Hopefully that gets through.

    Cheers Mike.

  2. I put the dates in the topic as requested, April 20th - 23rd. If anyone wishes to come early or stay later that can be accomadated also. There is places in the desert to stay, closest would probably be slab city about maybe 7 miles or so to the south. They also have two places they recommend to rent ATV's from. The first is a place called rentrtoyz.com and they are in Anaheim Ca 714 240-7666,they also rent RV's from what i understand and the other is from a guy by the name of Bobby from what they told me and his number is 714 296-2303. I will PM Brostar this info also.

Tried to pm brostar but his box is full.If anyone can reach him let him know to check this out. Thanks,

Sorry Rick, I've deleted some messages so you should be sweet now.

    Cheers Mike.

  3. Become a member on www.buggynews.com and add the same post there. You will have a couple of guys help you out for sure. They are more Joyner Buggy experts and we are more Joyner UTV orientated. BIGE from McDonough Powersports or PGH are the go-to men on Buggy News for Joyners and they will tell you what's going on with your 650 Spider. If you can get a hold of Casey, he would know too.

    Cheers Mike.

  4. I don’t care where as long as I’m there. I’m getting closer to making a commitment. Thanks to you guys I have several possibilities and have time to get it right. Here is a question out of the blue. There is an outfit called Postal Pete that sells New Right Hand Drive Jeeps to postal delivery people in the US. My question is, can Right Hand Drive vehicles be driven in the US if not delivery post? These are way cheaper than here in NZ and could look at one.

    Cheers Mike.

  5. That’s a great offer Stevozz and one that I will contemplate. I’ve had a look at how far off you are from the Salton Sea and it looks like a days drive. One way around it is too fly into Arizona and hire a RV from there. Then hire a trailer for a few days and do a round trip with your Trooper. Not all hire companies let you tow with their RVs though. It’s worth investigating and thanks very much for the offer Stevozz. We were just going to fly into L.A and go from there. I'm still thinking about buying a UTV to import back home, but I've still got the problem of towing if allowed and a trailer.

    Cheers Mike.

  6. What would it cost to ship something like that back to NZ ?

I shipped a 1981 Z28 back a few years ago and that cost nz$3000 (USD $2473 on today’s exchange rate), but something the size a UTV should only cost nz$1800 (USD $1483) if part of a LCL container. I know there is a few guys that do this for a living. Here is a heads up for you. Check out the price of a new Harley in the USA and compere that to a new price for a Harley in Australia. There is plenty to be made there if you can tap into it.

Garth, sorry for sabotaging your post.

    Cheers Mike.

  7. That would be COOL / GREAT to have something like the Ranger Diesel to run with us. GO FOR IT ! JUST DO IT ! YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE !

    rocmoc n AZ

Roc, its a great deal and I really should just go for it. Who’s going to run it in for me? Polaris have a $1000 cash back making it even more appealing. The $11,999 price I quoted included that and a link is http://bertsinventory.com/burners/Large/Polaris%20copy.jpg

I’ve come up with another solution over night and that would be export a SIKA-RS (Sand Reeper) into California, use it for the Jamboree and sell it in the States. I would only pay cost from the manufacture plus shipping and then sell it for what it owes me. That’s a win win win too.

    Cheers Mike.

  8. I did contemplate that. I’ve already got an 08 Trooper downstairs though. I’ve been doing my homework and I’m thinking of maybe a new Polaris Ranger Diesel. I’ve seen them for USD$11,999 for a new 2011 on a USA website. In NZ the retail price is NZD$25,599. That equals USD$20923 on todays exchange or a saving of USD$8924. That could pay for the trip if I on sell it back here. I might take you up on the storage offer. I’m also thinking of maybe a Jeep. Would that be out of place where were are going?

By the way 6K for an 08 Trooper with low mileage is a very sharp deal so if you are thing about grabbing yourself a bargain, don’t hesitate too long.

    Cheers Mike.

  9. I'd like to think that my old mate 4x4x454 could make it this time around too. My driving distance is only 80km from my home to the airport and 250km from L.A to the Jamboree so I wont be in line for the greatest driving distance award. That could be all yours 4x4x454 if Plumber can't make it.

BTW, who else is thinking of coming?

    Cheers Mike.

  10. Thanks Lenny for your very generous offer but I would not do that to you. I’m looking forward to meeting you both along with everybody else and taking your "Super Trooper" beast for a wee spin. If we come, we will hire out or sort out a vehicle for sure. I might even buy something that I could ship back to NZ. Powersports vehicles are thousands of dollars cheaper in the USA than NZ & Aussie. The important thing is that I have time to work it out. I’m relax about when we go if it’s not too hot, even if it’s this time of year or a bit latter on when it starts to get cooler.

    Cheers Mike.

  11. OK, me and Mrs Brostar are thinking, just thinking about maybe coming over for the Jamboree. I’ve checked out some prices and although it wont be cheep, I’m reasonably happy with the overall cost. We would hire a RV for about 12 to 14 days and take in some of that beautiful countryside I’ve always wanted to see. One big problem is I hate flying, but we have just been up to the Cook Islands and this time it wasn’t too bad. The other problem is we would need to hire a ATV or UTV close to where it’s been held. I don’t think we are allowed to tow so is their a place where your staying that hires out vehicles or has someone got a spare ATV we could use?

I’ve voted for Easter, because the heat would kill me. One more thing, if we do come we would need more time to organise than most so would like confirmed dates and a place as soon as poss. Sorry for being a pain in the butt.

    Cheers Mike.

  12. Thanks Rick & Roc. Rick, what’s this, a moderator now! Congrats mate and you are in good company. Yeah, it’s a bit strange as I have got out of the habit of going on the Joyner sites and UTV forum sites and are totally not up with the play anymore. I use to read every post on here religiously.

I’ve been busy looking at other opportunities and have even shot up into the South Pacific looking at the Cook Island Rental Car Industry. Rarotonga is a beautiful Island and a great place for a holiday. I went 4WD whilst there, talk about a blast as it was too much fun. I’m toying with an idea of importing another brand of UTV which is more like a Mini Jeep and it has the same Chery engine as a Joyner Renegade. In the States I think they call them a Sand Reeper, but out here I’ll rename them a SIKA RS. I’m also helping a Finnish car designer promote a new Roadster called a Norster 600R that was designed with the Rental Car Industry in mind where there are holiday hotspots, thus the trip to Rarotonga. Funny enough the Norster also has a Chery engine. Apart from that I’m working part time and still selling UTV Enclosures along with Lenny’s wife Jeanne. Jeanne is one very capable & professional lady and I’m very lucky to have her as a business partner, but for those of you that have meet her, you already know that.

    Cheers Mike

  13. G’day Dale and all my old mates that I haven’t spoke to in ages. Dale, nice photos of the new model Trooper. The amount of time and thought that has gone into the Trooper and Renegade upgrades by a few is massive. Some changers like the spare wheel mount, headlight and indicator relocations can be accredited to guys right here on UTV Boards and No Limits, but the hidden bugs and design faults that have been ironed out were mainly one mans work and a good job he has done. I know I’ve parted ways with Joyner, but I’ve still got the passion for the brand and hope that the Joyner manufactures make the RIGHT decisions for the future. I mean, just look at this 2011 Trooper, it’s a winner through and through.

    Cheers Mike.

  14. Not sure if anybody realised I changed my UTV Brand in my profile box left to Gnat. Just in case you think that is a mosquito like insect, it’s not.

I think that it may very well be the first UTV and was made right here in New Zealand. It was built in the 50s before Quads and Farm bikes were around and because of it’s seating configuration and a reverse gear, it is a UTV not a ATV. John Deere were probably before this in some shape or form. Do you think it could make a comeback?

    Mike

  15. Stev, I can only speak for myself, not for Joyner USA or Garth. I got sent the wrong parts again by the manufactures and they would not do the right thing by it. I told them I won't pay for their mistakes any more. They have cost me over the years and told them that I would have nothing more to do with them.

Joyner in the States and Canada will continue through No Limits and Mudslingers. The parts are in stock now. The new 2011 Trooper will be night and day compared to the old model as will the Renegade. I can say that parts WILL NOT BE A PROBLEM.

Support the guys that are still part of the Joyner family. From what I can tell so far, that’s No Limits, Silverbullet, Mudslingers and guys like Tim from Thin Air Powersports. Tim is a member on UTV Boards (Anylizer) and for the last two years, he’s worked behind closed doors securing Joyner parts for his customers. Look after these guys, because they have worked hard for you, the Joyner owners. I believe No Limits and Mudslingers will be the distributors and will supply Joyner dealers with vehicles and parts, plus sell direct to the public.

    Thanks Mike.

  16. I’m not going into it, other to say that the problem is not the USA Distributors. No blame can be pointed at them period. Joyner USA is closing. http://buggynews.com/joyner-usa-t27744-60.html Garth Livermore said in this post that he won't go into detail publicly & he doesn’t want to come off as a "sour grapes" kind of guy. Well I don’t hold those qualities and like nothing more than getting my own back. I not going to now, but maybe sometime in the future.

What I will say is, Ken Morris, Garth Livermore and Joyner USA can hold their heads up high, they haven’t failed you, the Joyner manufactures have.

    Mike.
