Just received delivery of a 2024 AMP Pro.  Thought I'd start a thread with my impressions as I use it and learn more.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real-world usage information out there on this model.  Hope this will help others as they research.

Intended Use Cases

  • Fire mitigation / slash removal from a 5 acre forested and well-gamble-oaked property.  The previous owners thought as much about fire mitigation as I do about fashion: not much.
  • Snow removal
  • Stump pulling
  • General hauling (rock, lumber, etc.)
  • Weimaraner energy depletion.  Wasn't an original use case, but a nice added bonus.

Experiences So Far

Wasn't impressed that two of the bumpers on the underside of the bed where it sits upon the frame were missing.  The metal on metal contact has damaged the powder coating and the frame.  I expect a little better QC.

I've only put a few hours on it, so not a ton to report on usage.  It isn't quiet; it's silent.  I can't even detect an electric note from the motor. I removed (and subsequently replaced) the motor cover noticed that the motor is German and made by Schambuller.  The motor controller is Italian and made by Dana TM4.  Given the operating specs of both I found on the web, I suspect both are higher quality than the previous Navitas (which is supposed to be decent).  The motor is rated at 25 hp and 71.5 lb-ft of torque.  It feels very powerful.  All the torque is delivered instantly, if desired.

The bed is huge and has an electric dump as standard.  Great feature but would like it to go up a bit more.  Probably not feasible from an engineering perspective, but I want and I need ;).

Power steering is nice, but vague.  Probably common to many UTVs, but I am accustomed to more direct results from input.  Plan early and plan often.

In our first full day of usage, we hauled about 1/2 as much slash as the entire rest of the year when I was doing it by hand cart.  I may get fatter, but I'll also get more done.  After a few days of usage, the battery meter has gone down by 1/10th.

Until next time...

After about 9 hours of use, happy to report that things are going well.  The huge (for a UTV) bed is a serious productivity enhancer.  I can cut and haul soooo much more slash than I used to.  The electric dumping feature is pretty great, too.

I was wrong about the motor.  It’s rated at 24hp, not 25 as I mentioned above.  The power is plenty for my needs.  The torque is noticeable.  The on-demand 4x4 is pretty useful as I experienced when stuck on a steep and loamy incline.  Switched it on and immediately achieved traction.

The front and rear hitches, along with the winch, make this a very handy extraction vehicle.  Tree saver and snatch block setup is a breeze.  I use it to pull gamble oak after thinning an area.  Anything I can’t pull by hand with an extractigator I am able to pull with the winch.  The included winch hook is pretty poor.  I’ll be replacing it.

Overall, I’m very pleased and slightly relieved… while American Landmaster has an A+ BBB rating, those ratings aren’t a good indicator of overall quality.

I’ll report back after the first experiences with plowing.  The performance in cold conditions remains to be seen.  Hoping the hydraulic plow I purchased is worth the dough.

Until then…

First snow of the season came Saturday and it snowed through the night into Sunday.  We only accumulated about 10 inches on the deck and 6 on the driveway.  The temp was 8F when I turned the machine on and started plowing.

This was my first time plowing ever.

Observations

  • No problem with the battery in that temp.
  • Plenty of power.
  • Great traction on my asphalt millings driveway.  Doubt I'll need chains.
  • The controls for plowing are decent, but not conducive to multi-tasking the operations of plow up, plow down, switch from FWD to RVS, and steering input.
  • Working the pedals with insulated boots on is a poor experience.
  • The hydraulic plow from Landmaster is beefy and laying a long stripe is very effective.
  • It's much warmer sitting in the cab, even without a heater or doors, than walking behind a blower.

If I had to choose between plowing and snow blowing 6 inches, I would choose the blower.  When I get over 12 inches, I will turn to the plow.

Cheers.

p.s.  If you look closely, you can see I replaced the winch hook.

How are your brakes performing?  I just got my Amp Untamed crew last night and there is almost zero brake pedal travel.  They work but you really have to stand on them.  Wondering about how easy that is going to be in big winter boots.

In racing terms, I would describe them as soft and vague.  Nobody is going to be doing threshold braking effectively with these, but obviously not the intended use.  It seems like my experience is on the other end of the spectrum from yours.  That is interesting, perhaps I will bleed them to see if they perform better.

From a slightly different perspective: on a steep incline, the e-brake only works to keep the vehicle stationary if pulled 100% (all the way to the plastic molding).

I’m seriously considering this same American Landmaster AMP with the long bed.  Would really appreciate any updates you might have, both good and bad experiences.  I have lots of forrest undergrowth to clear and trails to make, plus daily trips up and down 1/4 mile driveway between mailbox, barns and house.  Thanks.

Nothing new to report.  I still think it's excellent and capable.  Now it will be the test of time and how reliable it remains.

I may update the winch with Warn's top UTV / ATV winch to get ~ 2,000 lbs more pulling power.

Thanks for the reminder.

So after a winter I’m still very bully on the rig…

There is one issue with the plow accessory that is disappointing: it comes with two holes drilled for the hitch pin and cannot be fully inserted because it hits the front differential.  Pretty dumb design as it also stresses the wires that control the plow functionality when you can’t insert it all the way.  Nothing a hacksaw can’t solve, but it’s a very odd miss.  Perhaps due to supporting multiple models.

On the upside, I left it out all winter uncovered and we received various amounts of weather, including 32 inches of snow.  The thing was covered inside and outside with snow.  It started right up.  It’s also kept a good charge over the winter.  Landmaster told me I could leave it uncovered without issue and they were right.

We are very pleased with the purchase and love the lack of exhaust sound and smell in our quiet area.  Our neighbors saw me running it and told us later they were confused by why they didn’t hear sound out of it.  It’s pretty great, if I have any issues, I’ll report here.

I have a 4x4 AMP with Untamed Edition. The manual mentions a Navitas app for troubleshooting purposes. But I found out that this was discontinued and the new motor and controller to not have an app that people can use, only dealers have access to it. I'm wondering if anyone had to work on their UTV's and wasn't able to do so due to lack of ability to diagnose the trouble codes and was forced to take it to the dealer?

So this is the second winter in a row that my AMP untamed shuts down on me while climbing our mountain.  It only does it on cold days (below 25) in Alabama. I've had issues with power since day one climbing hills, an occasional problem between reverse/forward where the gears seem not to fully transition and of course the dealer can't replicate any of these on flat ground.  The unit shuts down immediately, will turn back on in a few seconds but you still have to turn the selector knob back to neutral and then forward for it to go.  After it does that a few times, it shuts down completely - i have to turn everthing off then back on.  I might travel 10-20 yards between shut downs.

Is anyone experiencing this?  Seems like I might have a lemon

That is a bummer.

Nothing like that for me.  It gets cold here at 6900 ft, and I've never had an instance of the issues like you mention.  My driveway has a significant hill (50 ft rise over 300 ft) and we power up it no problem with a full load of slash (on the big bed, piled high) and two people.

I'd reach out to Landmaster directly to see if they have ideas.

Just added the Power Steering kit and switched to the Cruiser tires for street duty. Now looking for extended rear fenders with more coverage to keep rain/mud from cabin

Just saw today that Landmaster has finally admitted that some 2023 models were having problems with overheating issues and power issues with moderate inclines.  Both of things exactly describe my problems.  There is supposedly a software update for the 2025 models that will fix this.  Mine is still at the dealer so the next couple of days should be interesting.  I called them today to let them know about what I discovered online.  I hadn't heard from them in 60 days - they claim to not get very good support from the corporate office.

Does that power steering kit make a big difference in ease of turning?  Can you one hand or one finger it?  I recently tested a manual steering AMP and it took significant effort.

Was the dealer and/or Landmaster able to get the problem resolved, hopefully under warranty?

Finally!  There is still a drag sometimes switching from reverse to forward where I have to stop and back up again to get it to engage fully in forward but the power issues on the hills seems to be resolved.  Still to be determined if the shutting down in cold weather problem is resolved but I feel much better about it.

I have a 2011 or so Landmaster LM200.  I cannot get it to start.  I turn the key and nothing happens.  The brake switch seems to be working, the ignition switch works.  The Coil is new the Voltage Regulator is new and the starter relay is new.

I can connect the terminals on the starter relay and it starts right up and runs fine.  I just can't get it to start by turning the key.

I am having a bit of trouble bleeding the brakes, not much fluid comes out at the calipers when I am pumping the brakes, though that an air bubble near the brake switch might make it not sense that the brake pedal is depressed.

I am at a loss, please help!

Hope I posted this in the right place. Looking for the left side shaft carrier where the rear bearings go for an 1100cc sand viper, I understand an 800 cc carrier will also work. I need the old style two bearing with the spacer in the middle, the new style with just the one wide bearing wont work. If anybody has one I'll buy it right away. my email is [email protected]

2022 Coleman 400 with 13 hours on the engine and the mice got to it. Every wire coming out of the steering column in one cluster has been eaten through. I tried reconnecting matching wire colors to each other and I get the left turn signal and hazards to work, nothing else. If I play around a bit I can get the horn to honk or headlights to come on but only when I connect them to the brown wire. Obviously I don't know what I am doing here. Does anyone have a picture of how these wires are connected when they are under the hood on the drivers side coming from the steering column?
Gray - seems to carry power
      Brown - left turn signal
Green with purple stripe - hazards?
Pink with red stripe - horn?
      Green - head lights?
      Yellow - head lights?
      Yellow with red stripe?
      Blue?
      Dark green?
There is also a bundle hanging under the hood not connected to anything green with yellow strip, brown and blue?
Other than that issue, I am about ready to sell this for parts if you interested let me know.
      Thanks
