Big Horn 400 Explorer won't start

Recommended Posts

My son has a Big Horn 400 Explorer UTV that won't start.  He pulled the fuel line off after the filter and there was fuel flowing.  The spark is good.  He said before it quit it would start to bog down when he drove it up an incline.  The plug was dry.  We tried to pour a little gas into the carb but it may not have been enough.  We sprayed starting fluid into the cylinder and it still didn't start.  It didn't sound like it even tried to fire.  Fuses look good.  It is a 2020 model we bought last November so the carb shouldn't have any gas gelled to plug it up.  I think the next think I'm going to check is the compression just for giggles, shits and grins.  Any suggestions what else to do next?  Thanks.  Bob

TapBoss, we ended up tearing the engine down and found the bolt holding the sprocket onto the camshaft for the timing chain worked its way out.  The rest is ugly as a dead hog.  The valves and pistons were obviously damaged beyond repair.  Warranty was going to replace the UTV but imports have been blocked but a new engine was received and replaced.  Power Sports are slow getting payment to the service center.  Right now we are lying in wait with baited breath patiently awaiting the service center to be paid so I can get the UTV back.

Okay folks. I have a low power issue. Been like this for a few years. Place I work at bought 3 and all have lost most of the pulling power.  They gave them away after local shop worked on one for 3 months and it had great power for about 1 month and then crap. They replaced throttle body, fuel injector, spark plug and IAC motor. Seat belt switches have wires cut and left open so no seat belt warning light anymore. It revs to 6k rpm in neutral but when put in gear and take off in low it just doesn’t seem to want to go anymore. Running 93 octane fuel with Stabil.  Any ideas greatly appreciated. I dont have a scan tool but no codes on dash. If held to floor it pops a little and runs almost 5K rpm but if I let off pedal about an inch it smoothed out and revs up to 6k rpm.

I have a part that fell over to the exhaust and burned the harness up. I can't figure out what it is. Does anyone know what the start relay looks like? The part I can't figure out has 4 wires, a red power, a green and brown wire, a black and unsure what the 4th color was. Anyone have a clue?

Have a Hisun 800 it runs for about 35 minutes then stalls. Crank's over but has no spark. Let it sit for 15 to 20 minutes and it starts and runs again for about 35 minutes. Changed the CDI / ECU controller and still does it.
