  1. Hi Kinarfi, Thank you for the input. I was at Joyner in Tempe yesterday to get the new rear drive line installed. I spent a day trying to get the front half of the drive shaft off the transmission and finally gave up. It was a REAL struggle for them also. To put the new shaft in they had to loosen the rear differential. It was something I never could have done. It took an air torque wrench to get the thing loose. While there I found out about a power source for my GPS and it is as you suggested the red wire off the ignition switch. While there I met an engineer that's now working with Joyner to improve their cars. I sent him the URL for this board telling him there's a lot of good information here. I also met John the owner of Joyner. He gave me some brochures to take with me to the Outlaw ATV Jamboree in Eagar Arizona. I will be working at the Jamboree helping with the field events. Thanks again for your help! Gumball
  2. Thank you for the good information. ACE charged me $1.15 a piece for the nuts. Your place, McMaster-Carr charged me about $.30 a piece plus shipping. Quite a savings. I bought enough to do my whole car and my buddies car. Thanks again, Gumball
  3. I finally took the hood off my Trooper today - boy was that fun. I'm looking for a good power source for my GPS. With all the expert help on this forum I figured someone will have a good answer to this question. Any thoughts will be appreciated. To avoid the need for 6 foot long arms to get to the nuts under the hood I went to ACE Hardware and bought some UNM-L6 U nuts. They slide right over the frame brackets that should have had the 10mm nuts tacked to them. That solved the problem of trying to hold the nuts with one hand while trying to loosen the screws with the other. Being a new guy, others probably did this long ago but I thought I'd share anyhow. 5. SPOT on - I too have a Spot unit. I never go riding without it. It has couple quirks a new user should know about. 1. It works best with the Spot emblem facing the sky. It has to have a clear sky view to work consistently. 2. To put it in the track mode the easiest way is to turn it on, then hold the OK button down until the green light goes out. In the track mode it sends a message to the satellite every 10 minutes. Occasionally it doesn't catch a satellite flying over and your next track point will be 20 minutes or more out. You can down load your track to your computer as a GPX file and use is with Garmins Map Scource. You can also load your data to ExpertGPS to see where you've been. There are probably other software programs that you can also use. Many of the racers in the BAJA race use the Spot to know where there competitors are. Considering it cost about $158.00 a YEAR for full coverage I consider that a small cost for piece of mind. Gumball
