I'm hoping someone can help me out on this one before I pull out what's left of my hair. I bought a 2012 EFI MSU700 about a month ago and was told that "it floods out sometimes, and needs a fuel pump".

Here is where I am with it...

The machine will start MOST of the time. I have had it not want to start a couple times. It would just crank and crank but not fire. The machine idles fine, and in low gear drives fine but every now and then it will hesitate and almost feel like it is surging and sometimes it will sometimes backfire. In high gear it will drive fine but at around 25mph it starts to hesitate and bog down and backfire. I do have my seatbelt on as I have heard that can trigger a limp mode.

After running for just a few minutes, the exhaust headers will be glowing red. This is what baffles me as if it is a lean condition and starving for fuel, but the spark plug when I have checked it has been black.

It will smoke on startup and during acceleration and seems to get better after the engine warms up. I'm not sure if it actually gets better after it warms up, or the oil is burning off enough to make it not smoke as bad. The machine does not seem to smoke during idle or very slow acceleration.

The dipstick verifies that I am burning oil also. I am thinking this may be a ring issue? I did not see any signs of oil in the airbox.

When I replaced the fuel injector and had the fuel line disconnected, I turned the key on and off several times and it seemed as though I had a good amount of fuel coming out of the fuel line. It would "prime" for 4-5 seconds and then stop. The fuel also looked/smelled to be OK.

I have replaced the fuel injector, the spark plug, and changed the oil and filter and it has made no difference. I have not replaced the air filter as it seems to be fairly clean. I didn't notice any visible cracks on the intake boots, but I also have not removed them to examine them all the way.

Is it possible that the fuel pump actually is an issue and starving the engine for fuel, leaning it out, but the fact that its burning oil is making the plugs black? Is it running rich and dumping excess fuel into the exhaust? Is this an exhaust valve stuck open? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I would prefer to approach this with a plan instead of just throwing parts at it :)

Thank you!

When the exhaust starts glowing, its  usually either very lean air/fuel or late ignition timing on any engine . if you have low fuel pressure it could be causing it.  If the smoke is blue, its oil getting past the rings  in my opinion

My Axis 500 has been operating properly for almost a year with Zero problems. While I was away my granddaughter & friends were riding & playing in the snow. They went to the gas station to fill the tank & the vehicle would not start afterwards. I BEEN GIVING MULTIPLE STORIES: The ATV will not start. When I turn the key I can hear the fuel pump come on but nothing happens other than that.
      - NO CLICK - NO OTHER NOISE
      *I CHECKED THE BATTERY 12.43volts
*I replaced the solenoid inside the battery compartment.
Seems the next electrical component in line has battery connections IN & motor connections OUT with 2 other small wires connectedaswell(I do not know the name of this component).
      Can anyone help?
I can not find an ordered list of electronic components starting at the battery.
      Can anyone help with this?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think this part is causing a high idle problem(4000 rpm at start up) in my 04 R4 Joyner. I took it out and cleaned it and the problem went away. I just went out to start my SXS and it's idle jumped up to 4 grand again. Can someone tell me what this part is called so I can search for a new one. Or can you point me towards a source.
      Thanks in advance.

My older LM 650 is blowing fuel into the air cleaner.  Any idea on what would cause this?  It is the Suzuki motor.  Not sure what model year it is.
      Thanks

Hey Guys, I have been chasing a stalling condition for about two weeks now. The bike will crank up and idle fine, then after about 20 seconds it will fall on its face and stall. It happens at both idle and while running at various rpms. You can turn the key off, turn it back on and it will fire right back up without trouble. I have verified spark on both cylinders with a spark tester. I have also added an inline fuel filter, and pulled the injectors to verify proper pulse on each. Things I have replaced - (relearn procedure performed after each component replaced): spark plugs, ECU, relay/fuse box, fuel pump, & throttle position sensor - all with no improvement of the condition. The only warning light I get when the condition occurs is the oil lamp. The bike only has 14 miles. I am at a loss and appreciate any help and suggestions! Thanks
