  1. We visited this topic a year ago but I want to see if anything has changed since my renewal is coming up.

I am insured for the street thu Foremost Insurance Company of Grand Rapids, MI. I pay $182 for full coverage, $250,000/$500,000 Liability, $10,000 Comp with $1,000 deductible. My broker is Marc B. Fischer in Scottsdale, AZ. Tel# 480-778-2078.

Anyone have something better? I already tried AAA & Progressive. No Go!

  2. Looks good but I sure would be careful climbing. Looks like it would be a great wheelie machine. I don't know about the 50" trails, looks like it may have the wide-track kit, good idea with the kids in the rear. I wonder how much the upgrades cost?

  3. OK, so you are saying replace/check the bolt & nut that hold the ball joint to the upper & lower A-arms. And is horizontal passing thru the A-arm. I have never had a problem with that bolt on any of my past toys so I was looking of something else.

Thanks, I think I got it!

  4. An Observation!

Before with the smaller rims/tires, the front took a local speed bump / tope smoother with the back wheels banging the harder. Now with the bigger rims/tires, the back is smoother over the speed bump / tope and the fronts hit noticeably harder. What ya think? I checked and both front and rear still have lots of free up/down movement when sitting still and myself jumping on the nose or tail.

  5. Yes I not going back. Love the new rims/tires. I went down the wash behind the house yesterday. Had not been down by the river in a couple of months. When I neared the river a tree had fallen. I got out walked over to make sure there was not any branch spears to puncher the tires. All clear, locked the lockers and when up over the tree. With the additional ground clearnce and bigger footprint the trooper crossed the tree with ease. Tree dia. was roughly 20+ inches. It was koool! How many sideXside can clear a 20 inch dia. tree? AND I crawled it in first gear, didn't power & jump it. Plus in the sand I did not even need 4 wheel drive. I will be taking it out for a longer trip in the next day or two after the rains. NO DUST!

  6. My response to your post on the other site,

"Just came back from over 4,000 miles of RVing in Mexico. We were as far South as below Mexico City. Not a single problem and none of the several hundred other RVers we met had any. Remember this is the some of the same people who got us into Iraq with the warning of WMDs. Said we were just having a econ slow down, not a recession. There was not any speculation in the Oil market. The Banks just needed a little bailout and they would start lending again. No inflation, but do not include the cost of housing or energy. No problem with unemployment but do not include long-term unemployed or people who have given up. Believes everyone has healthcare. AND MORE! As with anything, you have to take it with a grain of salt. How much news has came out of the government in the recent past that has been worthless? A LOT! And the News media. Reported once on National News all the homes where we lived were sliding down the mountain side but actually only one home had a problem. It is easier to CONTROL people when they are afraid or feel things are in chaos. Also how many of these people sit behind a desk and have never been to or where they report about. MOST! I am not saying there is not a problem, just what we hear or read from the Government or New Media is not always accurate."

  7. I completed the adjustment today. I now have full lock to lock steering. What should have been an easy job turned into a pain in the ***. The front suspension is built rigid with very little adjustment, just looks like there is lots of adjustment. The front helm joints have 12 1/2 turns to full install. My helms were full in. I was able to back the right side out 4 turn and the left side out 3 turns. I followed up with some fine tuning with a large adjustment tool, hammer, to assure sufficient clearance. I would have liked to backed out 6 turns but there was too much binding. There is not hardly any caster adjustment. Tow-in was fine and did not have to be changed.

  8. Jimmy, I do wish I could support your statement. Problem is, When is Big Business & Wall Street going to start taking care of us the people (the real America)? Most don't have any desire to do what is best for America. Unfortunately I was in Big Business when the Orders came down from the Top changing the USA business model from Old School to the Cr*p Business Model of today. Decided I could not save the World a few years back so I make sure my family is taken care. What do we make besides Weapons & Hamburgers. I have enough of both.

  9. I painted the top of the helm joints today to mark their present location and to make it easier to count the number of turns as I move the suspension. Tomorrow I will make the adjustment. Wheel width is now 68", I measured my wife's car and it is 64". IMHO, this ain't a UTV anymore.

  10. I will be going down on the air pressure in steps until I find that optimum sweet spot.

It is great that we are all working in different areas improving the Trooper. It is becoming a real BEAST! The tires make is look like a real machine and not a toy. It sort of got huge! It is taking more and more room in the garage.

Watching what you are all doing also.

Yeah Flatbed, taking the Toyhauler in tomorrow. Have to have that thing fixed for the March trip to El Golfo.

I haven't forgot about the spare tire inquiries. Well respond this weekend.

  11. WOW, what a difference! First let me say I will have pics up soon, maybe tonight.

    Wheels are the 15" Visionwheel.

Tire is Dunlop Radial Mud Rover, 31X10.50R15LT.

They fit, I do need to make a small adjustment to the rear of the Front suspension to get full lock to lock turning. At present I have 3/4+ but there is plenty of adjustment in the supension to get full lock to lock. Everything else clears easily.

Ground Clearance is now a full 13 1/2".

Gearing, First gear is now more like a 50's pickup granny gear instead of the factory tractor first gear. First gear is usable! Plenty of low range remaining, but all gears are much more usable. I now cruise thu the neigborhood in 4th instead of 5th. I will have my better 3/4 follow me with the car to check speedo and top-end. My guess top-end is easily 70mph.

Flotation on sand. I went down the wash behind the house where I would normally flip into 4Wd. Never came close to needing 4WD, stayed in 2WD the entire time. I was running the full 30psi put in the tires at the tire shop. I have since aired down to 20 in the front and 24 in the rear so performance should even be better.

Standing Start performance appears to be as good as before or better. You can now use 1st or 2nd to take off from a complete stop.

Needless to say, I could not be more pleased. The setup has met every one of my wishes & expectations.
