  1. The problem is there are thin spots. The thickness is not uniform. I weld it also but would hit a thin location and blow thu and then have to fill. You can see it if you cut the tubing and look in the open hole. AND this may have been something found in the first Troopers and corrected later.

    rocmoc n AZ/MX

I have cut it open,I have welded my tubing to it also. Erw tubing does not have uniform thickness, this is why SFI/Nhra cert cages built from ERW are built using .134 wall while spec for M/S is .118 wall. If using .120 wall it will be too thin if sonic tested

  2. 11.mount folding shovel on roof rack

12.mount amo box with hold down on roof rack for tools

    13.front storage comparment under hood

14.renforce front cage (already had rollover)

    15.install 12v outlet in dash

    16. doors

17.nets for rear cage (for kids)

    18. finish building 20ft open trailer, all steel deck(my old trailer stolen from shop and tired of borrowing trailers)

    19. rock sliders

20.race radios ( never gonna happen, cost too much)

21.shock upgrade (not likely ,due to cost ,well there is 5 yrs down the line)

thought about more of the ideas in my head, guess once its running and useful again I can pick them off the list little by little . May not do much for awhile but have a list and ideas in my head

  3. yes that would work.they do have a tent area but maybe we can slip you into our area since the sites are so large.I see your not too far from me, im in yorba linda and so is bruhaw.

Yikes, I threw the idea out to my wife about me going but she seemed like she wanted to go . I decided to check out the cabin rates I think it was $279 for the weekend. WOW I checked the Koa in pomona across the fairgrounds since its a stones throw from my work awhile back and it was $60 a night for a cabin.

  4. wanted to say thanks to 2scoops, I put out the call for a used rear shock and the board came thru. 2scoops talked to me first and wanted to let him know I recived the shock today

Also wanted to say I love the back seats on the T2's. I had planned to do it since I bought mine in 09, started on it last year then needed the room in the shop and the trooper went into storage. With the shock I nolonger have a hold up and need to bust my butt so I can take the kids out to ride . I went out to the dessert for thanksgiving weekend ,kinda sucked not having any toys while the rest of the group did. We are planning to go out for New Years so I will atleast get the shock in and pay for my tags so I atleast have a toy.

start my list and check it off

    1. install shock

    2.pay tags

    3.oil and filter change

    4.air filter upgrade

    5.build rearcage

    6.mount rear seats

    7.build rear floor

    8.buy kids seatbelts

9.build front bumper and skid plate.

10.remount headlights on bumper under fenders

I amsure there will be more things but I will check in here and check them off and add new items. Hopefully follow with pics.

    china t25/28 turbo $189

    obx fmu $79.99

    second f/p $59.99

    mis barbed fittings/shop supply

oil lines ,either a/n and braided lines or jic hyd hose and lines, BTW kit icomes with rubber

cold and hot side tubing , mandrel bends and time at bench with Tig

exhaust log, same as above, just price of shop supplys

What else am I missing ? Not like I could afford it but I like to hope and dream ,maybe plan for next year lol

  7. It releives the spring that keeps the pressure down.

    Lenny

So they are using it to lean the mixture out !. Ok I have always used it in boosted app.s for enrichenment . Most stuff I deal with is blow thru carb and roots blow stuff when using a boost ref port . Never done anything in a n/a app

  8. I'd be embarrassed if a Rhino passed me as well :o . So, I don't blame you. Have you seen the turbo systems on Ebay for $2k? I am pretty sure they are being sold by Unleashed Motorsports which have been building them for years. $2k is cheap when you consider a RZR turbo starts at $4k. If you want max power you will need to run race gas though. I am sure a propertly tuned turbo would let you climb almost whatever you point your Trooper at.

I have looked into them but cant swing the cost. I am doing everything I can working a normal job and then working at my shop. I lost a good city job and left a good flat-rate job for the city job. So I am making less than I did before so I am busting my but at both shops to pay bills. lol

  9. I run the General Grabber AT2 27x8.50 R14 95Q 6PR OWL $90.10 http://www.generaltire.com/tires/Grabber-ATsup2-sup with 8 -10 lb up front and 12 - 15 lb in the back and I just ignore the long tall hills, I have to gas it on a lot of the up hills, but I do have fun in the dunes. My son just got a new RANGER RZR® 4 800 ROBBY GORDON EDITION and it only out does me by a little, I've been to the Little Sahara Dunes a couple of time and it does better with the General Grabbers and the stock mud tires. I love the General Grabber for all around playing and highly recommend them. you just have to use the 6" front rims, I don't know how they would mount up on the 8" rear wheels, might do fine. The Grabber are said to be as close as you can get to BFG Tires without patent violations, but BFG doesn't make a 14", so Grabbers it is. I didn't air the down last time out, but I'll try to remember to on my next outing.

My advice, go any way, let some air out of the tires and learn what you can't do, then don't do that, but for ridge running and such, you'll be fine. I did get stuck a few times as I topped the ridge at an angle and the rear went side ways, but if you don't dig yourself a hole, just back out and get a better run at it or find another spot.

    It's all fun!

    My engine is stock.

    27X8.50R14LT 95Q C OWL 5684400000 26.5 13 28.6 50 8.6 (7.0) 6.0 - 7.5 16/32 784 1520 This is the only 14" they have

I have ITP Terra cross tires, I have been told that the stock tires are very poor and ride bad so I got itp wheels and tire package when I bought it

  10. Silverbullet

First thing to do is compression test. Then pull the plugs and replace them with NGK BKR7E-11 or NGKR7Z-11.Make sure you hook up vacuum line from regulator to small vacuum line on the intake use a tee fitting.Set fuel pressure to about 55 psi. These are the things we are finding out as we go.

    Thanks

    Rick

the port on the regulator is normally for boost ref , so when it see's in increase in pressure/boost then fuel pressure is increased 1:1 . why are you applying vac to the port ?

  11. You are correct, the shock has little rebound damping and bangs itself apart. Limit straps are the way to go if you are going to run the stock shocks in the rear. The fronts don't have the same problem.

    rocmoc n AZ

well I got a call to make tomorrow and am crossing my fingers that the place has a used one. I have an extended warr but they dont cover shocks. Not sure if they cover consiqinsel damage , like if one part fails and then causes another to get damaged ? I know working at automotive dealers they normally do with extended warr. If thats the case maybe I could nicely talk the shop into saying a weld for the tab broke or a bolt snapped for the spindle and caused it to then take out the shock ? maybe throw them alittle something for the trouble

  12. I have owned sandrails and the Trooper will never be able to preform as well without a ton of dollars invested. I have thought about this before and decided it would be cheaper to buy a sandrail for the dunes rather than try to make the Trooper do something it was not designed for.

I know it wont be a sand rail, but wish a didnt look like a dumbass when all the rhino's rzr'z and other stuff fly by. It seems like the split between 2nd & 3rd it too much for the sand . I would love to do the turbo but the cost is insane ,I would want a pump gas tune. I know I could build the kit myself and could source a turbo thru my shop but then the next problem is my suspension is stock so I cant go balls out. I have turned down trips to glamis cause I know I wont enjoy it

  13. I normally ride in Ocotillo Wells , or on the Colorado river. Ocotillo is normally hard pack trails, hills and rocks andthe river is about the same unless on the water. There is one big sand hill in Ocotillo called blow sand hill. I hear all bout you guys going to glamis but I dont see that being any fun since the one big/soft sand hill I watch all the other rigs with the cvt's walk right up. I can out power them all day on trails and hill climbs and crawling but in sand I hate it. I have to bounce off the limiter in 2nd but cant pull 3rd or it bogs down. How the heck do you guys go to a place that is all sand , are there any tips to make the trooper do better in sand without paddles ? Do the fuel controlers help much ?

  14. Where do you need limit straps if you are still running the stock shocks?

    Kinarfi

I thought I read along time ago that the stock shock was limiting how much the arm would drop, If thats the case then I assume the shock with too stiff of a coild rebounded and yanked itself so hard that it blew out. I planned to limit the travel so the shock would not top out

  15. Hang in there as some of the posters on here have changed out their shocks and may have a used one at a reasonable price. Mine are still mounted on my Trooper as spring struts so I don't have a spare. I added Fox shocks without coil-overs. The mod I did is posted on this site.

    rocmoc n AZ

I read about your shocks, I have been a memeber since 08, I just havent posted in a very long time. It just wasnt in my cars to fix the trooper and use it so it got parked in the back of the shop then moved into storage in my grandfather garage once he passed. We just went thru some hard times as my wife an I lost the baby we where expecting. I know she has been on me to fix the trooper since she really loves going to the dessert and to the river and ride. Heck she has wanted it fixxed since it broke but I could never seem to find the time to work on it or when I was slow I had no money. LOL now I have neither. I could do without the expense of the dessert trips but know she enjoys it and my kids do also.

I started on the rear cage to ad seats for my kids ,so I need to finish the cage, but seats and belts, get a shock and limit straps so I dont blow out the shocks anymore, and pay the tags. Im looking forward to being able to use it but not spending the money lol

  16. That is a lot of coin for a sub-standard product made in China. Thing could not cost more than $30 from the factory. JMHO, if you have to go to a new shock put the money towards a couple of FOX shocks or another USA product in the rear. You will save money in the long run and your machine will handle better. The factory shocks are not rebuild-able and fail. I blew one also and upgraded to FOX so I walk the talk.

    rocmoc n AZ

I know they are expensive for a junk shock, I have alot of things going on. I lost my job a few years back, then opened my own shop and after awhile work fell off so I took a job and still work at my shop on customer projects and try to do my own. I really want to get the trooper back together so my wife and kids could go out but I need a few more things for it and dont want to spend 200 on 1 shock
