maybe it gets stolen and insurance pays it off, and maybe you later build your own minirail that looks kinda like a trooper but no body panels, you know a home built unit all tubing.

i WAS LOOKING AT THE MOUNTING POINTA AT THE FRAME AND AT THE SPINDLE AND WAS THINKING OF DOING some work and building new 1/4 inch tabs with gussets . I had this stupid thing sitting around broken for a few months since I ROLLED IT. I replaced the front lower control arm and front hoop for the cage, and I added a grab handle for the pass.
To be honest I am not very happy with the quality of the trooper. I replaced the brocken parts and never did gusset the front a arms liked I planed or did anything to the rear. All the problems I have had stemed from the problem with bolts and too short of a shank, the steering problem, spindle and rear arms.
I lost my job awhile back and I have been working on my race car since i have alot of parts and dont need to spend money, been playing with the real boat and Rc boats, the trooper is the last thing I care about now, there too many problems to be adressed. I should have just built a Baja

"I think free is really good." It's excellent!!!! I was thinking, if he sends 4 sets,.....oh never mind, I got new ones in and don't wanna do it again.
well the point is that in race cars the Sfi crt is only good for 2 years so you may ask around maybe free or cheap

ERV JR on 27" tires your looking at 6f.7" with the light bar up, on the rollbar the without the spare it's 6.2"
Cheers Mike
Are these posted numbers or is this what it measures at ? If this is the case then the trailer may not work for me, I am around 6/1 and standing in the doorway my hair was touching. i have 26 "tires so overall height should be 1/2' shorter. maybe letting out the aiir in the tires , or maybe straping the susp down and then driving in would work
-
How tall is a trooper on stock or 26 inch tall tires ? if someone can give me a number at the light bar and maybe at the roll bar. Thanks, i store mine at a friends and its hard to get there sometimes, but looked at a trailer today butit has 6 foot door, need to know if the trooper will fit into it

I don't know you yet, but I don't think I would have put it that way. The fact that they were on and it wasn't your fault, if I remember, does away with the Dumb part. Any way, have you had any trouble with them loosening up as you drive, It was a constant problem for my wife and I, and since we only used the lap belts and they were always getting loose, I replaced them.
Kinarfi
Yes they lossen up all the time.
I actually asked some friends on a race car forum that I go on if they had any out of date belts and a friend said he would send me them for free. I figured that I could just pick them up cheap but I think free is really good.
-
well they held my big dumb butt in while hanging on my side
-
What price are you all paying for these shocks ?

An upgrade of the newer machines. I don't have any grease fittings and have not found any holes to add some. I will scrape some paint as recommended and see if I can find something hidden. Remember I have one of the first 50 Troopers.

Well its stupid they placed the zerks on the bottom of the bushing, great place for something th fly up and hit it. I think if you install them you should install them on the top side

I have always cleaned the filters in the race cars, or the cars we run filters on with simple green, I spray it with simple green, then hose it from the inside out and let air dry.
Well I guess i will pick up a can of K&N oil, I think one of those foam prefilters would be good also, maybe an aftermarket filter that doesent have an open so all ir goes thru the foam pre filter
-
Can you take a photo please & thanks,
kinarfi
yeah i will . i took some with my phone , but will with the camera, probally be middle of next week.
-
My trailing arms have zerk fittings for the front pivot bushings
-
Is the filter supposed to be oiled ?I thought maybe its like the AEM and it was dry
-
I have the same problem with my driver seat, maybe its because I am 225 and pass is always lighter
-
well when i rolled due to the steering shaft issue and landed on the side it cracked the front roll bar at the A pillar, were the small bar is welded to the hoop, it is cracked about 80% of the way around the weld and tore about 1/4 inch in the tube. Funny thing is that it was resting on the roof rack while on its side so you think it would cave that in ,break the studs or something but no. It may have been from the load placed on it due to the roof rack and puling the cage. Its kinda scary that it came apart, but hey it did its job @ 40 mph and a new roll bar is being shipped today

It doesn't hurt anything! If you have a 4 wheel independent suspension setup, the camber changes with the load/fuel/passengers/etc. in the vehicle. Not a big deal on the Trooper. You will not improve the performance if you mess with it. Tire wear is only an issue if you drive on hard surface all the time. I would only be concerned is it changes.

you are correct about race cars setup like that, there is a race shop behinde our yard and today when i drove out they had the rear of a car out the door and it had negative camber.
I usually ride in hard pack dirt, or washes, I noticed that the tread is showing signs of wear a bit and it wasnt even. oh well
-
Hey my dad gave me an idea, not sure if it would work ,I havent looked at it. But the 60's vettes had a power assist that connected to the linkage
-
Not in the rear. The rear is trailing arms and does not have any effect on Camber. The front is A-arms and does change with sag/movement.

Maybe Im crazy but looking at the bushings for the trailing arm they look like they arent mounted on the same plane , if so that would mean the camber changes. It may have have been my eyes playing tricks since they arent in line. but jacking it up seemed to change the camber also
-
Yes, look at my album and you can see the neg camber. Mine/the early units had neg camber. Its not a problem, IMHO! Look at race cars/trucks and they have neg camber in dirt and black top.
rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
That is usually due to sag, but when it lifts it goes positive
-
well checked it out today , found corrision on the connections , cleaned them up and the gauge is reading now. I will bring home a can of electrical contact coating that repelys water
-
I was looking at the trooper today , getting ready to do some work when I noticed that I have a camber problem and toe out on the rear wheels, I thought it may be from the coils settling but i jacked it up and noticed it is still there but not as bad. I checked the trailing arms to look for cracks in the powdercoat to see id the arm bent but didnt see any.
Does anyone else have a neagitve cambe problem or toe out on the rear wheels ?

utvinwv, Lenny is right with what to do for the dust.
ERV JR the main brakes and hand brake run separately and what you are describing has happened to me. The cause was a leaking left hand-brake hose that leaked onto the inside of the left rear wheel making it not so obvious but this could easily also just be air in those brake lines. Try bleeding them. The reservoir is below the middle of the rear axle. If it is a leaking brake hose, it will need replacing and to test for that, pull the hand-brake up as far as it can go to check for leakeage.
Cheers Mike
No the handle itself wont hold, I had the steering shaft problem, the oil pressure issue, my light goes on and off in the volt meter, what else is going to happen

the ride is ok, but I hang with a rough group of guys, they have race rhinos, a class 5 open car and a 10 car. I want to be able to fly thru the woops.
As for the race car its a 69 nova that I will run in Psca limited street
-
Don't know what size bolt you have in mind, but you might consider small hole with a rolled pin, leaving as much original metal as possible. and place it about a 1/4" below the outer shaft, in case there needs to be some movement as the wheel turns. That way, it shouldn't be able to fall apart.
the SHAFT the rack is mounted and the coloum doesent move either, look at the way a rhino is , they have a one piece shaft

I know there other threads about this but i would like people to see this and hopefully remember.
Alex is a great and the most helpful guy. Press the number for parts and ask for alex. i had quite a few issues with things that brokeand Alex was very helpful. Actually he was the only who was willing to help me. i called and talked to a few others and they were jerks, they wanted me to email the Ceo and talk to him and email pictures and tons or B.S.
Alex was very helpful and its people like him that will help the company to go somewere. I tolde him the issues I had and no questions asked he took my adress and sent the parts, a few days later i found more stuff broken as a result of the first proplem and called back ,alex wasnt there and the other jerk wont help, called back later and Alex told me he was sorry he wasnt there before and he shiped out the other stuff no problem.
Alex is a great guy ! I think my trooper is a pain and has issues but Alex has made life easy
