  1. If you plan on keeping your UTV past 5 years then buy a well known brand. Do not buy from Home Depot and others that sell no name or unknown name UTV's. Why, because they do not stock parts past about 5 years. If you look closely they source cheaper parts from several manufacturers. Stating "assembled in the USA" means only the parts have been bolted together.

I had a serious problem after 5 years the gas shocks lost their gas on two. Steering/handling so bad you could not use it. No where could you find shocks that fit the mounts.

I sold it at a huge loss. Now with a new Polaris I can always get parts and the ride is 500x better.

I like them all and those too. I like the Landmaster Cruiser but not liking no efi and I've heard the suspension/travel is not as good as others. Also I don't know much about the reliability. The mule I like the price and warranty but it is slow. The Pioneer is a Honda which is nice but pricey. The Ranger is at the top of my list right now. Maybe adding a bolt on seat to the rear like Travis mentioned. The glacier plow system is 2 grand! I'd have to shop around for an aftermarket plow system that is crazy expensive.

Always test drive 4 wheelers on uneven ground, not pavement. You will know the ride quality only when taken off road on bumpy ground, Polaris to my knowledge has very smooth ride with good suspension.  The first 4 wheeler I bought I only drove it on the paved lot, what a mistake, the worst off road ride and you could not drive faster than walking or you'd hit your head on the roof the suspension was so stiff. The thing beat you up when you drove it.

Is there a website to see where the auctions are? I'm in Michigan.

You would have to google local auctions and keep looking until something  comes up at auction. You can enter search terms and online auction sites email you when a 4 wheeler or anything you are looking for comes up in local auctions or auctions in a wider search area.

  4. I agree not worth it, save covers for bbq's. Build a lean-to or keep in a garage.  I've hunted deer in a stand with my Polaris beside the tree and a buck walked right past it within a few feet.

The deer didn't seem to mind that there was no camo cover on it. A surplus camo net works if you need to hide your machine.

  5. Travis you wouldn't be saying this if you lived where I do. We get only about 5 months of good weather and only 2 1/2 months of warmer to hot. When we pile on layers we use down filled coats etc. Too cold for too long. I welcome warmer and hot weather, I'll suffer a sun burn, just don't get enough warm weather north of your border, not state border.

  6. Knocking is detonation caused by fuel that burns to quickly for the engine. High compression engines need slower burn for their pistons extra travel. Knocking can damage engines, modern knock sensors adjust the timing so this does not occur. I only use premium in my small engines, no ethanol to eat fuel lines.

  7. Not at all. Of course parts available for newer models. I'm talking about older ones only.  With a 6 year old Sportworks I could not find a strut. With the gas out of it you could not operate the vehicle safely.

These are bitsa 4 wheelers, bits from here and there.  All one has to do is call a seller of one of these and ask for parts for an older model.  Strut was stamped "Venesuela" of all places.

I would suggest selling any of these before they become obsolete.

  8. Massimo assembled in Texas:  http://powersportsbusiness.com/top-stories/2014/02/13/start-up-brand-dreams-of-building-its-own-utv/

Cub Cadet:  It sells its products through dealers and retailers. The company was founded in 1961 and is based in Cleveland, Ohio. Cub Cadet LLC operates as a subsidiary of MTD Products, Inc.

Benneche: We assemble all of our vehicles in Coppell, Texas, :  http://www.bennche.com/about/

"ASSEMBLED" does not answer the question of who actually made the parts themselves.  Most likely China, Philippines etc. make the majority of parts found in all these vehicles.

I've seen struts made in Brazil.  Most companies that sell to TSC and other big box stores use parts from overseas and mix and match them to build a 4 wheeler.

Try finding replacement parts after 7 years, darn near impossible with these brands.

    Travis,

All those models are made by Hisun Motors.

If you plan on keeping yours for over 7 years buy such brands ad Polaris, Bombardier and other well known names that make their parts in house.

Chinese parts fail quickly after warranty since makers will only pay the least they can get away with to maximize profits. Yes China can make good parts but often do not

because they are not paid more to do so.

Having owned a big box store 4 wheeler all I can say is NEVER buy one just because the price is lower, you will regret that decision. Best resale value and best

reliability come from made and assembled in the US and Canada.

A mix match of Chinese, Brazilian, Philippine parts to make a not heard of brand name spells TROUBLE, and yes, spelled in capitals.

And even more so NEVER buy used big box 4 wheelers, they are for sale for good reason, they cost the owner too much to repair.

I learned the hard way, now I own a Polaris. I hope this post if it saves just one person grief, it's worth it. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My concern is as I previously stated, for people who keep their vehicles for many years,  will spare parts be available after years? What dealers tell me is NO. I do know if you are lucky enough to find a part you need you will pay dearly for it.

Seen as an expendable product it's highly unlikely they will make and stock spare parts much past past warranty periods.

One thing I am sure of "you get what you pay for" and barely that.

    CAVEAT EMPTOR.
