  1. no,I don't think they are the same as the CVT belt transmission we using now .. we will show you the new transmission when it is availble .

Klung, any word on the CVT for the 1100cc Chery motor? I also sent a PM.

  2. i dont know if my jonyer is running hot or not at first it stayed at about 194 but now it will run up to about 220 if im runing 35 to 45 is this normal ?how hot does it have to run to make the temp. light come on?and the brake fluid and cluch fluid are low what fluid do i use for them?if anyone can help i would very much like the help. thanks

I have noticed it depends on the situation. The only time I have noticed mine has gotten hot was running uphill about 40mph with the ambient temp being in the 90's. I am not sure what the actual temp was but I remember the needle almost touching the red so I let off the throttle and just cruised. My stock temp gauge seems to work well; however, others have complained about the accuracy of theirs and replaced it with a good aftermarket one. If you feel that the operating conditions don't justify the temperature increase I would start with a new gauge. If that doesn't work you can mount your radiator up into the airflow as many have done on this website. That option doesn't work for me, so when I supercharge or turbo my trooper I will swap with a bigger radiator and dual fans.

In theory, your temp light should come on as soon as the needle touches the red zone on your gauge. As to the actual temp degree that is I am unaware.

Hi Guys the first Troopers are in the USA now. They will be at a few dealers in the next few weeks. This is the new trooper pictured.

    Thanks

    Rick

    Rick,

So this makes me wonder. Since there is no Joyner USA and you say they are in the states now...where are they? Wouldn't they have to come to the dealers directly? Why would it take a few weeks to get to your door? Sounds like a slow truck from China as well.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  4. Just a little comment about our Troopers and the high gear ratio of the differential, while at the jamboree, I learned that the engine & transmission are out of the vehicle that has them mounted in the transverse position (sideways) and that the drive lines usual go directly to a wheel, but mounted inline as they are in our Troopers, they had to add a differential to send the power to each of the wheels and that's why we can only do maybe 60 mph and have a relatively low first gear, If it were possible to send the power to the wheels without the differential reduction, these things would scream, probably kill us all too because they are not that stable at high speed, IMHO but wouldn't have the hill climbing power that we now have.

    Just my 2 cents worth.

    Kinarfi

I find my Trooper to be relatively stable at speed, but it could be better. While talking to my buddy with the RZR S after doing some high speed driving down the same trail, I mentioned my trooper felt a little "floaty" and that I was a little sketchy around corners. He mentioned his RZR felt the same way. However, I would assume his is a little more stable since he has front & rear sway bars. I am looking into swaybar options. I am going to start with a rear one first. I am getting a ton of sway in the rear end due to the dual rate shocks.

When first got my Trooper I would run almost everything with the rear locker engaged. I kept hearing a banging in the rear of the buggy, but it sounded as though it was coming from the suspension. It wasn't until my 2nd trip to Moab that I realized the banging was due to the rear locker being engaged and it would cause a banging noise when weight would shift in the rear end. Now I only run it when necessary--no more banging.

  5. Did do the dyno work but had a fuel regulator or pump problem so couldn't complete the job. It ran acceptable at the Jamboree but still not tuned right as it stumbled and missed a bit from the problem with the fuel supply. Rocmoc drove it and I'll let him post his own feelings about what he found. When properly tuned it should produce about 20 percent more torque then it does currently which is more then stock by a good bit. The power will come in lower also. The torque cams gave me more torque also starting at about 1200-1500 RPMs, maybe lower. Won't know till it's tuned the rest of the way. It looks like the Torque curve will be flat across the RPM range when done. In other words, the torque will be as high at 1000 to 1200 RPMS as it is all the way up to 5500 RPMs which is where I have my rev limiter set to start cutting back.

    Lenny

With the understanding that your supercharger still has some fueling issues, did you walk away with any hp or torque numbers from the dyno?

  6. 2scoops--I certainly didn't mean to leave you out. I appreciate everyone's input and experience on the board. In fact, you were my inspiration to turn the back into a kid friendly environs! I need to post up some pics on upgrades I have done I think you will like.

Kinarfi--Please change 2scoops screen name to "CHOPPED LIVER" as he requested... :P

I will look into all the suggestions given. I ran the tires about 25ish PSI. Didn't know if they were ones like the maxis that can go down around 8-12 PSI or if I would destroy them like that.

Sounds like I will be putting on Lenny's steering box fix as well.

Will also check the droop. Have to get under and change the oil this week anyway (got the new drain plug as suggested that has the lever and the nipple for easier drain next change...thanks Kinarfi :)

    Jeff

So you are getting inspiration for your trooper from Chopped Liver. Yeah, not sure I care to see those pics :P

  7. Mopartist--thanks for the input. I will back off the collars all the way before the next run and see what happens. I also thought of limiting straps as a solution.

Lenny--again appreciate your input. I have completely stock setup for suspension. Adjusting collars are down only about one inch from the top but as above will back them off some more. I will look into your steering box fix. Probably not a bad idea to do anyway and yes the steering is somewhat loose, but didn't think of that as the possible noise. Guess there is one way to find out :).

    Jeff

What am I chopped liver? No need for thanks I will help you anyways <_< . After upgrading my shocks 90% of the noises went away. All I hear now is some sqeeking in my pedal pivots and the fiberglass panels rubbing as the frame twists. You might want to check and see if your rod ends on your A-arms aren't contacting the brackets they are bolted to in at full compression/droop. They will twist side to side as the suspension compresses/extends. Jack it up and at full droop make sure you have about 1/8 th inch of clearance between the rod ends & their respective brackets.

Lastly, the steering upgrade kit is a must do until someone finds a better steering box that will mod-in.

  8. So got the trooper out for a shake down run yesterday. Everything worked great except I need some advice on suspension. Back was ok, but I think the front rebound is super stiff. It did fine over whoops and such, but when I would drive over rocks of all sizes at any speed or more abrupt bumps I would get a very harsh almost gunshot like noise(s), which I believe is the front suspension exploding back to full extension. I don't know if this was the shock or what was actually banging together. Every time it would happen it would send a small sharp jolt through the whole vehicle (we could feel it in the seat as well as hear it it was very loud). The collar on the coil over is about an inch from all the way to the top, so can't imagine the spring is too tight. Is there any other adjustment? Could there be too much nitrogen in the shock and can I check the pressure there with a regular tire gauge? If so what should it be? Any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

    jeff

New shocks are your best option. The stock springs are very stiff, and you can't change the compression with out cutting the current shock open. They aren't meant to be rebuilt, but it can be done (see Lenny). If you don't mind loosing some ground clearance you can back off the preload collars and it will get softer.

If you plan to upgrade your shocks go to Steve at Makintrax. He has all of our measurements and can custom build you 4 bolt-in shocks for around $1500. The only other bolt in shocks out there are Kings @ $2600.

Also, by going to a custom shock you can gain some suspension travel.

  9. Here we go again, another flop??? guess all we we will get is lip service.

Ditto on your feelings Rick. There has to be a reason why everyone is bailing, yet no one will explain why. Mike, & now Garth have been very vague. Not saying they have to explain anything about their personal lives, that is their business. But, I am sure there is much more they can share with us that would be of interest to us.

Mike & Garth care to throw us a bone?

  10. For what its worth:

With out reading every bylaw, regulation, and statute you guys have been mentioning, I will speak from personal experience.

If you have plates (actual license plates) on your UTV you may use all paved 2 lane highways in Moab. This will include every road with exception of Main Street. This comes from personal experience and after speaking with local authorities. I don't think they will beat you up if you just need to cross main street on your UTV either as my buddy and I did it everyday on our last trip to Moab.

There are TONS of camp sites which you can access trails with out trailering your UTV such as Kane Springs Road which has been mentioned. There is also Canyonlands and some people even camp right off the highway at the Gemini Bridges trail head. Now these are camp sites, meaning there is no water or power, and it will be hit or miss as far as out-houses. They are just flat open spaces you can park your RV or pitch a tent.

As far as trails I highly recomend:

Kane Springs (moderate to easy & scenic)

Fins & Things (Easy to moderate. This is a great confidence builder. Lets you get a taste of the slick rock, sand, and it is scenic. Everyone can do this)

Gemini Bridges (very easy but scenic overlook)

Tusher Tunnel (I think there are several ways to get there which could cause it to be easy to hard, but there is a cool tunnel to explore)

Hells Revenge (Moderate to hard depending if you do any obsticals. There are steep climbs and hills that may scare some, but no major off-camber stuff or slippery/sliding traction loss).

  11. Almost time to head out, so far,

Rocmoc: arriving at camp site on Wed, Leaving Sunday for Moab :)

    Update US!!!

I never threw my hat in on this years Jamboree because of my hectic summer. I went to Moab twice already this year, just got back from a road trip to Canada (with the entire familiy  ), going to Vegas for my brothers Bachelor party, both my sister and my brother are getting married this summer (no, not to each other you sickos  ), I have two upcoming golf tournaments scheduled & paid for, and I have Air Force Reserves every month. I haven't been at home for a weekend in over a month. I owe my lawn guy like $135. The end all be all is one of my golf tournaments is this weekend. This particular tournament is in memory of my brothers late wife and all proceeds go to charity, so there is no missing it.

Although I can't make the Jamboree, I hope to get together with some members on some other rides until the next Jamboree. I hope you guys have a great time. Please take some picks for us who can't attend. Someone take some detailed photos of Lenny's machine while he isn't looking. You may need to wait until he is asleep. That is if he sleeps :D . He may have improvements to his machine scheduled during the Jamboree.

  12. Hi 2 scoops Are you sure you want your c/v binding. Are you ninot worried about the c/v joint cage breaking.May be i miss understand what you said i know you know what you are doing.Just dont want

you to go and have a c/v breaking

don't worry about questioning me. I see it as a positive to have a second oppinion, not a negative. my cv joints are not binding. it was just the boot. I may eventually move my diff a little more forward to cut down on some of the angle.

  13. like I mentioned in my original post, the cv boots I picked up were a type that would fit a few different models. I believe they refer to it as a uni-boot, because it is a universal application. you can cut the boot down to fit. I ran moab & a couple of local trails without a hitch, where the stock ones would bind. remember, I have about 3.5 inches of droop over a stock trooper & that is the reason I had to find another/thinner boot.

  14. Thought about joining you, but the rain, the memorial day traffic, etc. etc. convinced me to stay home and work on the Trooper some more, little things, but the next time you're planning to go down I15 past Pleasant Grove, let me know and I'll try to join you, you could even stop by for minute or two.

Kinarfi - getting antsy to go out and play

Wish you would have come down. Then at least I would have had another reliable Trooper with me and not another broken down RZR (tongue in cheek). You really aren't that far from me and many trails are half way, so we will definatley hook up. Or, I could drop the kids off at Uncle Kinarfi's next time I am heading to Moab--LMFAO!

  15. Yep; they are airbrushed on. I am still going to do something on the big center bump on the hood; but all I can come up with is a skull. But EVERYBODY Has skulls! And I'm not much in to skulls. (Same reason I didn't do hot rod flames. Everybody has flames!) LOL! I dunno; I'll figure something out. Maybe a small mural or something. The square bumps and scoops (what will be scoops) will be gloss black with some kind of design on em. Sure wish we could make it; but like you said; I'm not sure I would want to get it dirty! :)

Looks good and very professional. What about doing 1100cc in some cool writing on the sides of the hump on the hood? I like people to notice the CC's the Trooper has. Or, just airbrush MY MOTOR IS BIGGER THAN YOURS

  16. Moab was fun, but fell short of expectations. My buddy's RZR 4 had some running problems after we ran Porcupine, so he packed it up early which left me by myself. I didn't want to wander too far off the beaten path with the family, so all we did after that was Hells Revenge, Fins & Things, & Kanes Creek. Then there was the weather. Friday and Saturday morning were great, but then it got extremely windy, which put quite a damper on the camping.

The good news is the Trooper ran great, suspension was amazing, new air intake stayed in place, and the new CV boots worked flawlessly. Also, I ran into a fellow T2 owner who lives in Moab. He has one of the tricked out T2's which No Limits Powersports built. I will definatley be calling him next time I head down.

Took alot of video of the suspension. It is set up very well for rock crawling and trail riding. It was obvious in the video that it now rides smoother and travels further than my buddy's RZR 4. There is sway when cornering at speed which is normal for dual rate coils due to the softness. I will be looking into putting on swaybar to help with that.

  17. Thanks to all on this forum.. Your are the Americans that I fought for! The willingness to help each other is the true American Spirit. I thank you all. I went for a ride last night with my 17 year old son. We road up the mountains behind our house. I found out that the trooper drives like its on rails. My son has raced motocross, and when I went around the coners he said that I scared the hell out of him. This was good for me...I loved it.

On another note, I need to get some parts. I need new tie rod ends for the front, new ball joints, and I have a small leak in the right rear out put shaft. Is this the time that I should rebuild the differentials? My son is an excellent and loves to work on his dads stuff. I was wondering it this is the time to do the diffs. Do you guys know of any other Joyner owners in Montana? Steve

You can get all that stuff from Silverbulletmotorsports. Next time I look into tie rod ends I will be looking for something better than OEM. I bought new ones a few hundred KM's ago and they are already starting to get a little loose and the boots are cracked--again. I may go to a rod end with high misalignment spacers. Silverbullet sells ball joints with zerk fittings and better rubber boots. For the biggest improvement in steering slop, I HIGHLY recommend Lenny's steering improvement kit. He usually has these on EBAY. If you move your steering wheel back and forth you will notice the forks of the steering box move up and down prior to the tires moving. This is the source of most of the play. Lenny's kit will elliminate 90% of that. I have also seen that Silverbullet is marketing an upgraded steering box, but I don't know much about it. It is inherent in the design of these boxes that they will wear out internally. Lenny's kit allows you to keep tightening as the housing of the box continues to wear (it is adjustable).

  18. Make sure you have the rear CV drive shaft. The stock one with U-Joints can go at any mileage. I would put the diff upgrade on your list of things to do, but it isn't a no go on driving immediatley if you do a quick check of your diff bolts. Jack up the front & rear of your Trooper and look through the oil fill plug. If all of the bolts are there and they don't appear to be loose then I would drive it and do the upgrade when you get some downtime. My Trooper has 1300 hard kilometers on it and they are still holding strong, but I will be doing the upgrade soon.

  19. I have been reading this forum and decided to buy a T2. I think that this will be the first one in Montana. I am a disabled vet from the Iraq war. I served 13 years as an 11B and a Sniper. My trooper will be delivered tomorrow, needless to say, I am just a little excited. I am glad that there is a forum like this and many people willing to help with problems. I am looking forward to riding in the mountains of Montana with my trooper. I most likely will be asking alot of questions about the upgrades on the mechanical aspects, so please be patient with me. Thanks to all the good people on this forum...

Good to have you fellow Vet. I just watched a pretty powerful story on CNN's website about a returned Veteran struggling with the horrors from war--pretty powerful. As an Air Force guy I never had to go outside the wire while I was there, yet it still left a profounding life-long affect on me. I served at Balad Air Base during Operation Iraqi Freedom. Daily, they tried to kill those of us that were on the base. I could'nt imagine what those who went off base were subjected to. I quickly gained a deep respect for those who did--thank you.

This is an excellent forum for information about your Trooper. Without it, many of our Troopers might be in the boneyard. There are few questions that go left unanswered.
