I changed my snorkel from the 1 1/2 in. to a 3in Igot way better response off idle and increased power all the way through the rpm range. I don't know if anyone else has done this but I think that those of you with modified engines would really benifit from this. I also increased my fuel pressure to compensate for more air.

I use 2-1/2" aluminum tubing for mine and I also increased my throttle body to 52mm from stock which is about 38mm. I essentually matched everything up to the area of the input port of the supercharger. Match your intake and exhaust ports up and you will see another good improvement. Easy to do. Stock matching is off as much as 3/16" which is awful.

Lenny, did you machine out the stock throttle body or did you change it to an aftermarket one. I was going to match ports as soon as I can find gaskets I think there are some on ebay. I have seen on here that some have flipped their intakes, I can't do that on mine pattern is wrong. I was going to redesign the intake to just an aluminum box that bolts to the steel manifold. I think that buy shortening the runners it will increase the low end power, the longer runners are good for high rpm running but too much volumn for low end,these engines are to small for the setup as is. What do you think?

I built one from scratch. Idon't think that boring the stock one out is possible to 52mm. I would look for a after market one. You probably don't need 52mm,maybe 45mm or so would be fine in an unboosted situation. Another problem I ran across with the 52mm is that throttling smooth off idle was touchy as it got a lot of air quickly. I ended up making the throttle wire cam, on the throttle, body to an ellipse. It starts out about 4" away from the shaft then rolls smoothly to the stock distance out. Helped a lot. I would flip the intake. If you have a Trooper the bolts lineup failry good with only a couple needing attention. I welded an extra tab to the side to catch one hole. I ljust got some gasket material from the auto parts store and made my own. Basically clamp it to the surface and carefully tap it around the edges with a ball peen hammer to cut it to the shape, same with the holes. Use a sensor safe gasket sealer. Your probably right on the long runners as the longer they are, the more resistance to flow they have. At low rpms, the air isn't flowing enough to provide a ram effect which it does at higher rpms and this engine was set up to scream at high rpms. Then again, I'm not an engine guy but I am pretty good at physics and do what makes sence. Sounds like you know a lot more about engines then I. You might want to confer with someone who has played with intake runners. there some good sites on Google that talk about it. I'm not as smart as some think I am but I have Google. Flipping the intask makes everything easier to get at and reduces the intake overall length.

When you flip the intake, how high does it stick up above the rear chassis tubing? I am running a rear seat and I have a sheet of lexan that sits flush on the top of the rear tubing (I removed the rear dump bed all together). I am concerned It will be in the way of the intake if I flip it.

Also, it is necessary to weld an extra tab for the intake? Silverbullet is selling the supercharger kit which will require the intake to be flipped and I have not heard any mention of welding another tab on the intake.

The flipped intake is about 1" below the top of the frame tubes. I'm not sure if you have to weld another tab on or not. It's been a long time since I flipped mine. my intake tube going to the supercharger does stick above the tubes about 1-1/2" but Silverbullet will be running his intake different so can't say on his setup. However I don't see any problem with letting the intake tube stick a bit above as it would be where your seats won't hit in but under the seat where there is probably room for something to stick through a bit. I too am eliminating my rear deck and will replace it with a sheet of aluminum that I will just lift off when I need access. The stock deck limits access to just the sides and then crowds you. For my setup, I will be cutting a slot in the aluminum for the intake tube which will be about 3" wide by about 12" long. everything else will be below.

      Hello,
      Before I invest $10k+ into a brand new UTV for the farm, I want to get my feet wet with a fixer upper and learn the mechanical side of things. I acquired a 2022 Hisun Axis 500 (Lowes-specific model) from an auction for $500. It has only 200 hours and 120 miles on the engine. It looks like the previous owner used it for ranch work and didn't drive it on trails, deep water/mud, or anything too crazy.
      While it runs and moves, it has some problems. It struggles to accelerate up any incline in high and low range and sometimes stalls when I let off of the throttle or change gears. When I apply throttle in neutral, it sounds like it is struggling for fuel/air and pops. When I decelerate, there is a grinding sound coming from the clutch, which I've read to be related to the one way bearing and is semi-common. The last thing I've observed is sometimes the speedometer display sometimes will show a much higher value for a few seconds after barely touching the throttle. Based on the documentation, if a problem is detected from the sensors, the instrument panel display should have an error code rendered on the screen in place of the time, but this isn't happening.       I've done some research, but information on this specific unit and sister units is limited. There does seem to be transmission and clutch issues reported. I still need to check into the head gaskets. I don't have the equipment to test compression right now, but I do plan on ordering what is needed soon. I do have an order in place for some cables to read the diagnostics from the computer. There is a shop two hours away from me that works on Hisun products, but I am hoping the problem can be identified and is something within my ability to handle. Below is what I've already investigated.  I am leaning towards the primary clutch needing replacement right now.
      After getting it home and unloaded, I did the following maintenance/checks to it prior to operating it further:
      Changed the engine/clutch oil (and filter) and gear oils using manufacture recommended viscosity Changed the air filter and checked for cracks in the air intake flow. Verified good suction. Cleaned the throttle body Changed the spark plug and verified the gap was within spec (0.6-0.7mm) Changed the coil and coil wire Changed the fuel lines, fuel injector, and verified the fuel pump was outputting the correct initial prime pressure for ignition and continuous pressure after ignition. Also completely emptied the fuel tank and made sure octane 91+ fuel is being used per manufacturer specs. Ran seafoam through system too. Cleaned the spark arrester and verified no cracks or gaps in the exhaust flow Changed out the O2 sensor Checked all wired connections to ensure they were secured and no breaks were visible Checked the belt for tightness and for any signs of wear and tear Verified 4WD and the differential lock function as expected - still hesitates and struggles uphill Verified the fan gears in the shifter are not corroded and working as expected ECU was reset after replacing sensors and fuel-related parts

      So I have a Bennche Bighorn 500 that I bought used a couple years ago. Was working fine until this winter when I was plowing and I think it drained the battery. And had a difficult time starting and staying running. Idle seamed really low, and would only stay running if I pushed on the throttle. So I changed the battery, and the acm valve, fuel filter and spark plug it will start up and surgery to 3k rpm but comes back down and dies, unless I give it throttle. I am getting fairly good amount of fuel from fuel pump.  It does spit at stutter right before it dies. What should I try next?

      Hi All,
      I have a 14 mile round trip on level roads to reach the property where I work with my 2025 Amp Crew Ranch (purchased, April 2026).  That 14 mile round trip uses 60% of the battery as shown on the gage for a calculated range of 23.3 miles versus an advertised “up to 50 miles” range.  A mile or two working on the property gets me a flashing gage and warning beeping by the time I get home.  The dealer was good to work with and even with a new battery (yesterday) the results were about the same, although there seemed to be more power and a higher top speed.  I own a Mach-e Mustang so I am familiar with how various conditions affect range, but less than 50% of advertised range just seems like there has to be something out of whack.
      Now I’m wondering if there is a controller and/or software issue affecting the range and performance.  At various points the Amp seems to lose power for no reason and then has trouble maintaining speed.  Any ideas?
      Also, twice now, the brakes seem to have not released fully.  After noticing reduced speed, I stopped and check the rotors and wheel…..HOT!  So, now every time I feel less power, I stopped to cycle the brakes and check the temperature.  Very annoying.  Are there any adjustments to be had?
      And yes, as noted in another post, sometimes the switching from forward to reverse or high to low speed feels sluggish or balky.
      Lastly, while an electric vehicle powertrain is quiet, my Amp was horrible from a road noise and vibration standpoint.  This was easily fixed by locating panels vibrating on other panels or the frame (even the cup holders were vibrating) and installing felt adhesive pads at the contact points (seat to frame, windshield to frame, fenders to frame, etc.).  This is a $10 and 1/2 hour fix that makes a significant improvement in the driver/passenger experience.  Tire noise, yes, but that’s because of the knobby tread.
      I’m trying hard to like my Amp and would appreciate any tips, advice or solutions.

      Hello. I have a 2016 Massimo MSU 500. I was putting on a lightbar and i screwed up and didn't disconnect the battery so when i was taking of the positive cable to put on the power from the lightbar it sparked and now the utv has no power. I turn the key over and all i hear is a chirp. No lights or anything. Everything that comes from the battery to the jumper box up by the battery shows voltage but anything coming out does not such as to the winch or anything like that
