Considering buying a 2021 1500 coleman

I’ve never been around Coleman Utv machines. Do they have a good reputation, durable dependability. Could you compare them to yamaha rhinos or Polaris ranger

I believe mine is a 2021 and they're not the best, but I've heard and seen that there is no perfect UTV out there, especially considering the higher costs for better name brands.

The main problems with the Coleman UTV, from what I've gathered, is that the shifter linkage (F N R) was not designed properly and it slips out of gear. The fix is to either purchase the upgrade shifter lever or modify the lever, which is what most people do. Once done, you're good to go.

The only other problem I've seen, other than individual UTV quarks, is that the front wheel alignment isn't fully adjustable. If I remember correctly, you can adjust the toe-in toe-out, but not the caster camber.

If you are getting it for a good price and can deal with the above, and hopefully no other problems that UTV might have, you should be okay. Mine is running great after taking care of the problems I had when first bought. But in my case, because my property is hilly, it's a bit under powered, but still does the job need it to do.

Coleman UTVs are or at least were,  Hisun made machines with Coleman stickers.

My Outfitter 550 from 2022 so far works OK on light to moderate land maintenance and snow plowing duty,  but is noisy and fairly "rough" around the edges.  This compared to my neighbors Honda machine, more "finish" and smoothness.  I guess you get that with the extra few grand in purchase price.

The shifter is "grouchy" sometimes hard to move, and tends to not engage fully on the F side, a known issue.  One dealer in PA made a video that worked for me.  Firm upward (F) pressure on the shifter as you start off will yield an almost imperceptible "click" that signals it is fully in F and it doesn't jump out of gear after that.  Just a quirk in this machine that is easily overcome.  

Don't expect luxury from Coleman/Hisun, or easy to find repair shops.   I was missing seat gromets when new, and the Coleman Customer Service (early  2022) responded quickly with the parts at no charge.   Keep it maintained and its an OK machine for general property maintenance.  I don't "off road" with it so not sure how it would hold up to that kind of use.
