Cinda I made a plate with a 2" receiver hitch the plate bolts to were the old winch is at but to bolt the winch in the same place it's to big it has to go out side like mine. They also have a pe3500 that looks good that I think it would fix in the same place as the old one.You would have to check the spec. to see if it would fit I pick this one for the 80 ft. cable and the 4500lbs that it pulls

I believe I have found my problem for twenty dollar's I'll tell you ha ha There is a ground wire that is hooked to the back of the battery box it was broken it was just laying on the ring terminal, It's your main ground it starts every time now
-
if the contacts in the solenoid are dirty or corroded, the starter will not work. I had a trooper that the starter would do nothing but click but if you turned the key and held it and had someone cross the post's it would start. Also if the battery is down some, the plunger in the solenoid will not hit hard enough to make a good contact. has it been in water?
Hi Russ, The only water it was in is I wash off the mud on the engine battery is up 12.5v I have the solenoid wire off twice so I think it's making good contact
-
Well I change my ignition swicth still doesn't start while I was searching the internet I found this http://www.type2.com/bartnik/starter.htm . I have done everything it said and everything check out but the solenoid I'm going to have the solenoid rebuilt it will take a couple of days to have this done I let you know how it goes.

TILT!
Geez, after thinking I'd solved my click no start problem I had a sad awakening this morning. I tried to start the Trooper and CLICK! no start. Dirty bracka fritz!!! It was back to the drawing boards.
Once again I checked connections, continuity, etc. Still Click! I did find that if I clicked several times the starter would finally engage. My suspicion now is a possible bad segment in the started motor. Unfortunately I'm not where I can pull the started easily. In fact I don't see how to pull it without disassembling the whole car.
If I find out anything more definitive I'll keep you posted.
Gumball
I'm having the same problem right now I took the starter off and took it to autozone and they put it on a machine and test it and it was ok I took the starter off with out taking anything off but the starter I took the starter switch apart it has two copper plates in it that turns to make it work I don't think it's the starter because I can used a pair of pilers on the starter to solenoid and it starts everytime I think it's the switch I'm going to put one on a good one not a joyner one

I like my trooper and have alot of fun. i had alot of plans for it but things changed,i lost my job ,I have another baby on the way and I have a race car that I would rather work on. But i will say the quailty is lacking in alot of areas, the chassis is decnt but poorly fittited. The notches are poor and filled with a mig ,other tubes looks like they were notched wrond and were crimped to fit.
Alot of this stuff isnt bad, i have an idea of were i want to gusset the front arms, rebuild the cage so the next time its on its lid nothin breaks. Maybe its just me since i deal with alot of high end drag cars and offroad cars. I have friends with chassis shops and i do alot of side work on race cars all detail work. I understand this is a production car and maybe I push it harder than it was meant to be. That wouldnt be the first time that I have been accused of that. I will see how it holds up this weekend
ERV JR how did you flip your trooper
