  1. sure but there is only one way to put it in it can not get out of alignment and I replaced the CDI already any other ideas?
  2. No I have yet to figure it out, I put it on the back burner for a while had to many other things going on. So updated replaced the stator again and on a 2k ohm I am getting .19, but I get no power when trying to crank it. So have the spark is not both sides. It acts like a safety switch is engaged. I have bypassed the one to the break but is there another one somewhere? I have pulled at the schematics I can but so far none show another switch. Everyone tells me to check the crank shaft sensor, well there is not one that I can find. It is not where everyone says it should be by the stator. Aside of pulling the clutch side out and apart to remove all the gears to see if it behind that. But before I go that far I have looked for wires to give me a hint that its there and can not see any. So help at this point other than the break where is the other safety switches? Or am I missing something and should just shoot the thing?
  3. did you ever solve this problem? I have one doing the exact same thing. W/Bl wire 14 volts, B/BL nothing. Have replaced all that plus the stator, regulator but still not getting a spark. It almost acts like a safety switch is engaged.
  4. I had thought of that and bypassed it just to see it it was. Ignition switch? it turns over but does it send a signal or something to allow the spark?
  5. Ok update is that I have replaced both the CDI and the Voltage Regulator, the coil pack, the plug, I never did find the crank shaft position sensor. I am getting power to one wire (white one) on the coil but it is low 9/10 volts not sure where it is dropping. But still no spark and am at a loss, at this point I am ready to push it out and let the thing just go away. Any ideas would be welcome on what I am missing.
  6. Hello I know I started this topic before but I have lost it. So here is the story, I bought this XLT 500 earlier this year it is was and still is in rough shape the ID plate is gone, faded paint, bad window, etc... When I got it, it ran rough and the all of a sudden it quit running. So I started looking into it and found no spark. No biggie changed plug, and coil, still nothing. So went and replaced the coil wire, still nothing. So I have gone pretty far now. I have replaced the stator magneto, the voltage regulator, CDI, I do have the crank shaft position sensor but have never figured out where it goes have been told around the stator but have yet to find it. Have chased wire out and still nothing. At the coil I have one wire giving good voltage the other one nothing, and when you crank it the voltage goes all over the place. So besides the key I have changed every part that has to do with the starting that I can find. So information on what I am missing or doing wrong would be great, it acts like the kill switch on the brakes is stopping it from starting, however I have bypassed that to make sure that was not the problem and still nothing. So aside of parking this thing in the back and letting it die a slow death I am at a loss on what to do next, Help!
