  1. Turn up your speakers and listen to this rattle from hell.

I thought it was my left swing arm or my left rear shock spring stopper which I pulled apart but turned out to be a metal tab that's used to hold lines or wiring hard up against a metal panel.

    Cheers Mike.

  2. Good on yar roc, I'm pleased it worked out and I'm sure a few Trooper owners will be following suit. Sounds awesome. Hey didn't Lenny say he was going to fabricate new fibreglass front guards? If that's the case Lenny sounds like a rear guard will be needed now. The same shape as the originals but flared up out of harms way. You never know, could be a nice little earner for you. Just a thought.

    Cheers Mike.

  3. Your going to like it here Quacks. I hope every thing is all good over there for you after the bush fires that are still burning. We get 4WD TV over here and have seen some of the beautiful tracks around Victoria which have no doubt been affected but that's nothing compared to the huge amount of lives lost and homes burnt down. The irony is we are having amazing sunsets over here in NZ because the smoke from the fires has reached us and gives us a good show every night with red, orange and yellow sunsets.

    Cheers Mike.

  4. ksimpsym, Lenny and rocmoc from now on I'm going to put you guys under the same tag. 100% full of s*** a* answers. That's smart as answers not swear words. Your all total correct, nothing new. ksimpsym, I especially know where your coming from. Four months ago USD$1,000 = NZD$800, now USD$1'000 = NZD$500. I tell you what, that really hurts. Funny thing is, I can still buy a turbo set-up for the Trooper here for NZD$1800 which is only USD$900 as opposed to what is being advertised in the States at USD$2700 which is NZD$5400. What the hell is with that?

    Cheers Mike

  5. utvinwv, Lenny is right with what to do for the dust.

ERV JR the main brakes and hand brake run separately and what you are describing has happened to me. The cause was a leaking left hand-brake hose that leaked onto the inside of the left rear wheel making it not so obvious but this could easily also just be air in those brake lines. Try bleeding them. The reservoir is below the middle of the rear axle. If it is a leaking brake hose, it will need replacing and to test for that, pull the hand-brake up as far as it can go to check for leakeage.

  6. Thanks Lenny, I found a supplier in Auckland and got what I wanted to know. Of interest a Lexan mr10 coated sheet is ten times more scratch resistant over Plexiglas and ten times more impact strength than normal auto glass. Don't know if he meant safety or lamented. If it's lamented, that would make it incredibly strong so think it's safety glass which is still impressive. Apparently, it is very easy to shape with an iron and fabric over the top and all race cars use them now. I was told "no problem with wipers" however I'd think auto glass would be better for that. Thanks for the offer to send some mr10 over but I'll call into these guys next time I'm over that way. As far as keeping the dust out with just a windscreen goes, in short it doesn't. Put it this way, over the Xmas break my wife, son and I went for a couple of long drives in a Trooper four seater that had a full enclosure minus the canvas doors on. Half of one of those drives was on a metal road. I was in the front with the owner and we both got covered in dust, the wife and son were in the back and mate, she was total plastered and looked look a ghost. Talk about me being in trouble, I was in a power of s*** as she was not impressed at all. After a month she is just starting to talk to me again. With the canvas sides on it will be a different out come.

    Cheers Mike.

  7. This has just been posted on another site:

I took a couple of pictures of my muffler set up. Send me an email message at [email protected] and I'll send them to anyone who wants them. The design and work was done by Chris Zinn a fellow Trooper owner in Tucson. He did a great job and we've had no trouble with either Trooper. The mufflers are from Joyner and were made for the 1100cc engine.

    Gumball

Apart from that there are several members here that have done just that even including leenanj that can help you with that so stand by for an overflow of info. If you go into the gallery or click on their names below , there are a couple of photos showing the upgrade. One from 4x4x454 and looks like rocmoc has done something too.

    Cheers Mike

  8. G'day utvinwv and welcome to utv boards. You have all ready helped me out by pointing out that safety glass will be needed in the hard enclosure when using a wiper system. That is something I have overlooked as I have a Joyner wiper motor on the way that was going to go on the acrylic screen. Just add sand or dirt & it will scratch no doubt. Hopefully I can return the favour with your Trooper brakes. Click here for all the info http://www.utvboard.com/index.php?showtopi...hl=Brake%20bias . My brakes are a lot stronger now

    Cheers Mike.

  9. If your going to use Royal Purple I've noticed Jeff from No Limits uses R.P Synthetic 75w140 Gear Lube http://shop.nolimitspowersports.com/produc...mp;productId=86 but from what I see both are good so the choice is yours. I had a look on Royal Purples website & in their pdf info sheet http://www.royalpurple.com/prod-pdfs/max-gear-ps.pdf it states that meets warranty requirements. Max-Gear meets or exceeds OEM warranty requirements for GL-5 automotive rear axle hypoid gear lubrication & is compatible with other oils. Max-Gear is compatible with other mineral gears oils and other synthetic hydrocarbon gear oils.

Go for it as rocmoc, I will next time too but read the pdf info 1st just for peace of mind.

    Cheers Mike

  10. Cinda, I wouldn't know you if I passed you in the street but what I can tell from what you have just said is," you're young at heart and you have loads of experience, that is only gained through age. knotheadracing, if the open women's UTV class runs in Nevada, you should contact Paiute3 (sorry George), I think she would give them a run for their money.

    Cheers Mike.

  11. I had a look on e-bay for second hand engines for you and a couple of other sites with no luck at all. Keep the pressure up with Arctic Cat even if there is some compromise such as replacing and rebuilding at cost. If you are thinking of selling after this issue is sorted, a second hand engine could be the cheapest option so keep an eye out for one. 4k just seems too much. I feel for you and hope it works out all good, as I'm sure it will.

    Cheers Mike.

  12. Congrats flatbed. I wonder if you Cinda and Megz will take the next generation of off-roaders out in your Troopers within the next year, strapped in their car seats of course. I think so & why wouldn't you. I've got a sneaky suspicion these 3 little ones will meet each other in the near future regardless.

    Cheers Mike.

  13. Hi Rusty and welcome to UTV Boards. Looking through another dealers point of view, there are a lot of options and improvements that can make both utvs better but as they both stand in their base form, I think it is a great place to start making it your own. What I mean by that it "one mans idea of making something better could be the opposite of what another man was thinking". For an example, Rusty you live in a farming community with a major river system in the north where it can get muddy. The body of the Renegade sits over the wheel base and the by-product of that is mud gets contained better but it sticks out & is made of fiberglass. A dairy farmer will tell straight off the Renegade needs a wrap around bar to protect the cows from rubbing against the front guards & breaking them. However another farmer that's close to the Missouri river or other waterways where it is very muddy would only see that as bogging down the front end & as you say most of your riding is in the woods a wrap around bar would help protect the front but it also makes it wider perhaps stopping your going through a narrow track. Work with your customers needs and collect an array of options at the ready to tailor your customers needs.

If your using your Trooper as a demo like me, you all ready know what a pain in the arse it is to keep clean & one of the obvious things to do 1st is to install some kind of aftermarket mud flap on the front that runs down to the bottom of the floor board & use a silicon spray all over the body to make cleaning the mud off, a breeze.

My only other suggestion is do the ground work with aftermarket upgrades. Like you a lot of future Joyner buyers will gravitate to this site & will wont to do the upgrades that's been done on this site. Find you local Fox Shock dealer and get a quote now and source a quality car or 4wd fabricator and talk about what has been done to the Trooper just to see how long & how much it would cost.

In short Rusty, keep the UTVs stock and have any upgrade options at the ready.

Mate, it would be fair to say though, "that if I lived in the States and was selling Joyner UTVs, I would hound flatbed, rocmoc, Lenny or Kinarfi to be my business partner" because these guys are clever and we are lucky to have them here doing the ground work.

    Cheers Mike.
