  1. I think I'm going to go for the roof rack, since I have very little rain here, and I like to take long hauls if possible. I want to do a coast to coast run in Mexico next fall with some friends. We would start in San Felipe, and go over to Ensenada and back. Would use a lot of the roads used by the BAJA races, and the extra space will be necessary to carry extra tires, gas, camping gear and such.

With the roof rack it looks like just 6 bolts or so connect it for the t4, so should be easy enough to take on and off, since I have only 3 inch cleareance coming into my garage at this time.

Detbohica, a T4 with a hard top enclosure and canvas doors with a roof/gun rack is on it's way to me as we speak. NZ gets bucket loads of rain and the T4 will be used for Transporting elders on Maori land and for hunting. I would think just the roof rack for you in Mexico would be all you need.

MegZ, I have just picked up two Trooper canvas enclosures that I have had modified and she's good as gold. I changed my mind from my last post concerning the upgrades after I took the T2 for a blast with the stock enclosure on. What I've had done is added eyelets for the sill instead of Velcro, a zip for the front screen with tie downs and Marine hardware to secure the lower Firewall and rear lower panel ends. I was going to go the whole hog ,with making it easy to take off and put on but now my thinking is just leave it on. I will post photos tomorrow (my daughter borrowed my Camera) and it's fair to say,"this is the way to go". The upgrade cost was nz$225 for two enclosures.

    Cheers Mike.

  2. At the request from the Joyner dealer hear and I am sure from many others, Thunderinc, Team Joyner

has posted on there web site a warning about there buggies and the damage it will cause.

Quote from the Team Joyner web site:

Joyner does not recommend jumping your vehicle or running your vehicle through more than 20 inches of water.

This is located on the first page of there web site.

Thanks for that, it's called a disclaimer and all companies do it these days and T.J USA is no different. Good on them for putting this on there web site. Don't give all the credit to Team Joyner, Polaris have Disclaimer warning stickers on their machines and printed in their manuals just like Joyner do. So good on you too Polaris for that, but I wonder after the recent deaths and injuries with their tipsy RZR they are going to add " Serious injury or death can result from turning or climbing a hill with a RZR" .

    Cheers Mike

  3. ATVriders.com says the RZR is the ultimate UTV!

Not just a lot of talk but hands on reviews.

All American made and it shows.

The new 09 RANGER RZR S is the ultimate, pure-sport side-by-side built for the desert, dunes and open spaces. The machine delivers unmatched performance using an 800 H.O. EFI Polaris twin engine that churns out a 63 MPH top speed and features Polaris' exclusive, long travel suspension kit that widens the vehicle to 60-inches wide. Along with premium styling including custom Turbo Silver paint, wide fender flairs, extended rear cab frame supports and 26-inch Maxxis Big-Horn tires, RANGER RZR S has high-performance features not found on other side-by- sides such as Chrome-Moly upper front A-arms and adjustable Fox® performance shocks making it the ultimate sport side-by-side.

I had a look on this forum and couldn't find the article and there was nothing what so ever mention about Joyner UTVs which is a pity because I was very keen on reading on how exactly they tested all the UTVs like Side X Side mag and then announced the top pure sport utv. If I can not even find a Trooper mentioned on this site then how do they compare. What I'll do is compare for them just on the figures you have given above.

    ................. 09 RANGER RZR S ..........09 JOYNER TROOPER T2...........................Best statistics

    Engine Size.......760cc ...........................1083cc ..................................................The T2 is bigger by 323cc

    Top Speed ........63mp/h .........................65mp/h to 70 mp/h ................The T2 is faster by 2mp/h to 7mp/h

    Width ............... 60" ................................65" ..........................................The T2 is wider by 5"[/b]

Custom paint.....Yes ...............................Yes but costs extra ....................The RZR has it standard

Tires ................26" Maxxis Big-Horn .....27"Far East Mud Pros .....................T2's tires in mud RZR's in sand

Suspension ....A-Arms front & Back.........A-Arms front Boxed Trailing Arm rear..The T2 has better rear suspension

    Shocks.............Fox adjustable..................Stock adjustable........................The RZR has better shocks

    Cost................$14000 MSRP....................$12000 MSRP...........................The Trooper by $2000

The best sport utv...No info found from 0 UTVs...SXS mag from 50 UTVs.......JOYNER TROOPER T2

As for the title of the ultimate sports Side X Side, SXS Mag came to this conclusion after comparing 50 UTVs from 19 manufactures and the JOYNER TROOPER was called THE ULTIMATE SPORTS UTV & http://www.sidexsideaction.com/digital19/ The only advantage I could find is the RZR had better shocks but it cost $2000 more for this little utv. Put a set of Fox Shocks on the Trooper & how much change have you got from $2000 ?

    Cheers Mike.

  4. Names for MegZ sprog. Now MegZ is about to pop, I reckon it's a good time to help her out with a few names. What do we know so far: It's going to be a girl (not always 100% correct by the way MegZ) she's about four weeks away from coming into this world and more than likely, going to be just like her mum with a love for all things fast on four wheels. Here a couple to get the ball rolling.......

Olivia Rose Victoria or (O.R.V) ........................ off road vehicle

Emily Faith Imogen or (E.F.I)...........................electronic fuel injection

Ella Carla Ursula or (E.C.U)............................engine control unit

Ulima Tammy Victoria (UTV)............................Utility Terrain Vehicle

I know this is not a baby forum, but with names like these I think we can get away with it. Buy the way MegZ my daughter," V8" said I only wish my dads mates used their imagination a bit better when they came up with her name but my son, "Five Kegs of Beer" is happy.

    Cheers Mike.

  5. You have the info, call a artic cat dealer, have them count the teeth and splines, if it all sound the same have him ship it to you withthe understanding if it is the wrong part you can send it back, that way you would only be out shipping charges if it where wrong.

Good thinking flatbed and good luck with that latch73.

    Cheers Mike

  6. I know I seen a picture of a canvas enclosure that someone had posted. My uncle wants to see it....and also how did you get the wrinkles out. ~Meg.....aka lil momma about to pop

MegZ that was me and yeah I had I had a wrinkles right in front of the driver. I've just come back from a day bush bashing in the Trooper on a forestry road that would not of seen a vehicle in years and I mean years. I videoed the good parts but I'm unsure if I can download it here. The good news MegZ is wind seems to sort it out and as I tow the Joyners on a open trailer, that helped big time. When I 1st saw the front screens my thoughts where probably the same as you uncles, wrinkles and bad vision, but she's all sweet and pretty much sorts it self out as your driving and towing. Any info on posting videos here would be appreciated.

    Cheers Mike.

  7. If you look under UTV News and Information there's a topic about the recent Sema Show in Las Vegas, they have a really nice photo of the Arctic Cat. Its on one of the last pages of photos.

    Cinda

Cinda, the closest show we have got over here in NZ is the Big Boys Toys expo that was on over the weekend in Auckland. I have thought about have a stand there with the last two shows but as I have pointed out before, NZ is so far behind America with UTVs that 95% of Kiwis would not have a clue what one was. I would say within two and a half years it will take off, but until then it's off road Motor bikes and Quads. I found two UTVs at the show, no Arctic Cats but a Polaris RZR and a Kawasaki Teryx. The Kawasaki guy couldn't tell me if the Teryx had a carbi or was efi and the Polaris guy didn't know when the RZR-S would be imported or not. I am not have a go at the sales guys, just the opposite, it shows the reality in New Zealand that UTVs are not popular here yet and sales are flat. Photos added on webshots and the link is http://community.webshots.com/album/568718571tSrvaP .

    Cheers Mike

  8. Well I started this post a few days ago thinking the boards would light up. My first surprise was "it didn't". Bugger. My second surprise knocked me off my computer chair because of what was said, who said it and the timing for this particular post. So what was said and by who. Well it was an article in the latest Side X Side Mag about a UTV Buyer's Guide and what did they say; "The Trooper is the ultimate sport UTV on the market today". For the full article here is the link http://www.sidexsideaction.com/digital19/ You may have to full out a info form for SXS first before the link opens and of more interest to me, there was also a very good write-up about a head to head comparison between a Joyner Renegade and a John Deere Gator. If the link wont open for you here is what they said concerning the T2."The Trooper is the ultimate sport UTV on the market today. Its 86hp, 4-cylinder EFI engine and top speed of 65 MPH pushes this UTV above, over and beyond the most unbelievable terrain known to man. The larger (98") wheelbase is matched with a swing-arm suspension to provide a higher level of stability and comfort. The 13" ground clearance and 12" travel makes the Trooper T2 a true force to be reckoned with!" I am a Joyner person and I was never going to promote another brand but it's fair to say I'm rapped with this particular article and personally I believe the T2 will be in the top 3 UTVs for 2009. I say top three because of the unknown that lies ahead with new models to be released.[/b];)

    Cheers Mike

Sorry for messing with your post, I thought the link was important enough to highlight. Jeff

  9. With only a handful of weeks left in 08, it's time to talk about next year. With most of the current crop of UTVs been upgraded during the year and a couple of new models popping up, there's plenty to talk about. With the recent posts by johnsand concerning safety with UTVs, like it or lump it, it is fast becoming an issue but at the same time we want to push these machines harder and go further than we have before. Some UTVs are going to be better on the sand or the mud, on tracks and on rocks than others and your never get one UTV that will dominate in all areas. Respect what members say and try and keep this one clean and positive(me included) ;) and tell us what is going to be the best UTV for 2009.

    Cheers Mike.

  10. Welcome aboard Crowdog I enjoyed reading your report and have learnt a lot off that website http://www.utvguide.net/index.htm since its inception. Lots of good info about each make and brand without too much rambling on makes it very easy to take in and it keeps the web-pages crisp and pleasure to navigate. Thumbs up to all of you involved with this top website.

I have been guilty of knocking the RZR on this site however Polaris have stepped up to the mark with the RZR-S and will sell plenty. Crowdog, have you got any plans on putting the Joyner Trooper through the ringer in the near future?

    Cheers Mike.

  11. The weather has gone crazy. We had a snow storm that blew straight up from the south pole last week and snow fell as low as sea level in the South Island and closed roads right up in to the middle of the North Island. That should not happen this time of year, so much for global warming.

    Cheers Mike

  12. Thanks johnsand for the link. Towards the end of the article the Wall Street Journal mentioned that Yamaha had led its competitors into forming a new trade association that sets voluntary safety standards for UTVs. Hopefully this will lead to mandatory standards as a whole because when UTVs are viewed by the general public as one, they see them as only as safe or as unsafe all together, just like ATVs are generally accepted as a dangerous vehicle that kills alot of riders in roll overs. The UTV industry must tidy up it's safety issues now in my view and hopefully ROV is the body that can do this and in turn promote safety, work and recreational fun as one. So good on you Yamaha for getting the ball rolling.

    Cheers Mike.

  13. Good Morning! We are in North Eastern Nevada, so yeah, we get a fair amount of snow. In fact, the weather service is predicting an inch in the valley today. Hopefully that means more in the mountains! You ride sleds 4X4X454?

The picture was taken last March. We ended up in a bunch of snow. It was great... well for me anyway. LOL The 4 wheelers could stay on top, the Rangers couldn't get thru, and the T2 was a blast in churning up the snow and mud! Good thing I had old snowmobile clothes on. Mud everywhere. Tim was impressed when I came back with it. I think it weighed 400 lbs more.

Hey Mike! All good here! Here is a link for you: Customer Jumping Sled Sounds like a MAJOR road trip for you to come to Nevada for a snowmobile trip! LMAO

    LTL

I plan on doing just that but will be on the back burner for a while. I've got some things to sort out first, one being two teenage kids, another is work & so on. Man those snow machines really do fly, excuse my ignorance, but how are they propelled forward, is it a conveyer belt or a series of wheels with paddles?

    Cheers Mike

  14. I lost my torque wrench a couple of weeks ago (don't ask) and Murphy's law, I needed it yesterday to do maintenance on my trailer. I over torqued three bolts by feel and broke the heads off. I'm picking up a new T. Wrench tomorrow.

    Cheers Mike.

  15. Hi Amanda, you & Tim are most welcome here. Don't hold back making any suggestions as anything will be considered, including a section for your snow mobiles if you like. You guys have got it pretty much coved for summer & winter fun and with the snow coming, I'd say there would be a few of us interested. For me personally, I have never seen one & wouldn't even know how they work so it would be all new to me.

    Cheers Mike.

  16. G'day latch, good to see you over here. I'm sure we could all learn off you and pick up a few pointers yourself. If anybody has not seen what latch73 has done to his Trooper, your in for a treat. He has a very good common sense approach to things, so make sure you have a look at what he has done to his Trooper here that he has just posted http://rides.webshots.com/album/568423471EKuRdU . Welcome latch73

    Cheers Mike.

  17. Oh yeah, they acknowledged it after the failure. Wish they had let me know before my customers had problems, but that's not how they operate. They did pony up parts for all that I have sold though. Just wanted to let everyone else know. A.

Thanks Tim, I've just received the Trooper rear drivelines so my wait will be the longest again, but worth it. How many miles was on the clock before the failure occurred?

    Cheers Mike.

  18. Rocmoc, and BroStar

After a couple of years, I don't think either one of you will have a Trooper that even looks close to a Trooper. I'm waiting to see which one of you enter a race first.....LOL

Detbohica, I'll leave that to the roc, there is nothing to race against out here. At least you guys some competition with modified UTVs that a Trooper straight out of the box is the equal off.

    Cheers Mike
