Trooper T-2 Gear and Transmission Oil

Recommended Posts

Just want to check before I use the wrong stuff.

What weight/brand oil do you all use for the differentials?

Same question for the transmission.

Can't seem to find my dang manual.

Thanks!

Ernie

Ernie, your Trooper is one of the nicest looking ones I've seen. It looks fantastic. Can you tell me more about your Snorkel and how it's placed.

Cheers Mike.

Well Thank You Mike! I think that will be way off the gear oil topic so I will post it separately soon. biggrin.gif

Got to agree with Mike, good looking Rig, I like the pouches above the dash, nice job on the radiator & snorkel, what did you you use for fender extenders?

Thanks for the profile, I'm sure we all will enjoy it.

Kinarfi

PM coming

Thanks, glad you like it!

Pouches: Cabelas. They hold all our stuff like glasses, keys, cell phones and trinkets. We also use an atv saddle bag over the shifter/console to hold water, TP, gloves, binoculars. Hooked with velcro over the top bar. Had to modify it a bit as it was originally made for another brand sXs.

The fender extender material (ROLL PLASTIC) comes in in various colors and lengths. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Colored-Plastic-Rolls,1557.html is the direct link to the product at Speedwaymotors.

We've dealt with this company for years and their service/shipping is great.

You can do all 4 fenders with a 10' long roll. 1/8" thick 22" wide. It is rigid, durable and not too costly. We use it on the race car for all kinds of purposes.

to cut it you just score and snap, then file the edges a little. Rivet or nut and bolt the fenders on.

I just purchased an Axis Pro 750 from Lowes.  I have two questions not covered in owners manual.  1:  In the glovebox there is a 12V connector, it is HOT with key off, is that for a battery maintainer to be plugged in or what is the purpose?  2:  In the instrument cluster there is a digital read out for hours, miles and odometer,  there is also a digital readout that is flashing, it can be adjusted and looks like 1 - 24  what is it?

I would really like to know what you guys think about this. I'll try not to ramble and make it as clear as I can.

I took this new job with companyX as a fiber splicer a year ago. I have a 45' bucket truck and 10or12 x 8 ft enclosed splice trailer I have to take home. Within the last 6 months all the management in the splice dept left. Now the power/construction management and higher ups are filling in. Just recently we were told travel to our 1st job is not payable even though we are in a company vehicle.
We are union so I asked the union business manager about this. His reply was be grateful you were paid travel as long as you were and that you don't have to drive your POV to the job.

Last week I had 50hr total. The job area is 4-4.5 hrs away. My time was reduced to 44.5 hrs since we were told this travel thing on Tuesday of that week. I wasn't hired for this area. I was hired for area a lot closer to home.

Pay is good. Work is not hard. Insurance is through the union and so far pretty good.
But I hate the thought of having to work extra just to make a 40hr paycheck. Anyone who has to drive as part of their job knows windshield time is not easy.

Anyway what do you guys think. Should I look for a different job or just suck it up because of the decent pay and health insurance.

Does the transmission share the crank case oil with the engine or does it have its own oil seperate from the engine?
