Building My Own

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Im looking into building my own UTV. Not from a kit. But actually building my own frame, buying and mounting an engine etc etc etc......A friend of mine and I have been talking about doing it for years, as he is the engine/mechanic guy and I can do all of the welding/fabricating.

Anyways, I have been scouring the web and different off road or UTV forums and have found 0 information regarding doing it. Anyone have any ideas of where I can go to start researching for our build? We need to at least start with a basic print, even if we modify it somewhat we still need a starting point. Are there any forums that deal with this sort of thing specifically? We will probably start with a small one seat sand rail type of vehicle and then build a bigger 4 seater.

Any help at all is appreciated.

Jared

That is interesting... but surely your are mechanically inclined right? This will not be a simple and easy project.

Yes. Hard to weld or fabricate without being. But building your own sand rail isn't anything new. Google it. There is tons of info online about it. Just can't find any for building a more UTV style version

I left my 2020 axis 500 UTV parked under the carport for about 6 months and when I went to start it recently a squirrel has built a nest under the throttle body and chewed through the efi harness.  I stripped all the wires back and reconnected them with waterproof butt connectors.  The problem I have is there is one blue wire with a red stripe coming from the main harness this wire has 5 volts dc showing on my multimeter but there are two blue wires with a red stripe coming from 2 different sensors on the throttle body.  I looked through all of the bits and pieces of wiring left behind and there’s no indication that the three wires of the same color were all tied together.  Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know which JBS Clutch kit will work on the Hisun 700. I talked to JBS and he said he knows they sell them to Hisun owners and the 660 kits will fit the 700 but he's not sure which items in the kit Hisun owners have had success with. Not sure if there are any other Hisun forums where I could find this information.
Anyone here used a JBS kit for a Hisun?
      Thanks

Hi I just bought a 2020 tracker 800sx crew and looking for a lift kit. It's an identical twin of the 2019 Textron prowler pro crew. It has decent ground clearance at around 11 inches but with the long wheel base of the crew it tends to drag it's belly a good bit. I'll probably end up making one but just seeing if anyone has seen anything yet. Thanks
