  1. Kinarfi, What did you do for a replacement shock? Thanks for the Detailed specs for the shock. I have looked at all the aftermarket brands and no one makes anything with our shaft size and load with less than 8" of travel. Limit straps & bumper stops will safeguard for too much travel. I will probably go with 23" extended, 8" travel and the 2.5 body/damping. I just have to sale an arm & a leg to purchase them. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  2. Flatbed, I started another topic because I did not want to hijack the Hi topic. Pulled the shock today, all approx. measurements. Extended, 23" Travel, 5" Shaft size, 7/8" Spring size, 3 1/2" I could not find a marking anywhere on the shock or spring. I think the most important measurement is the extend length. If longer, the CV joint will pull apart. I feel limit straps are a MUST. The rear suspension arm will drop/travel further once the shock is removed. I feel this abuses the shock if the damping is not perfect. I am sure this is what caused the shock to fail. I WILL be installing limit straps. I have not done any corner weights but I would guess at least 700 lbs on the rear corners. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  3. Has anyone made mods to the solid skid plate on the earlier Trooper? I know there was a post about cutting a hole to drain the Engine Oil. Has anyone did anything else. I want to be able be able to work on the thing without pulling the engine. I am also thinking of lighting wieght in the future. Thanks, rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  4. Thanks everyone. I WAS down with a cold so have not been on the computer much. Flatbed, we are both going in the same direction. What is the dia. of the paddles. I have been looking at 13.00 x 15 as the specs show the dia as 30". That would make it possible to run 4wd with a 30" tire up front, there are quite a few on the market now. My attention at present tho is to resolve my blown shock issue. Take care everyone, rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  5. Our earlier models also have side mirrors. The newer models do not have side mirror. The newer models also have a handhold for the passenger, dune antenna mount, angle braces on the rollbar, access holes to service the engine in the bottom floor, bigger brake disc, gas tank under the seat instead of up front and supposedly more clearnce on the fenders. I will call them changes as IMHO not all are upgrades. I had the chance to exchange my rear box/storage area for the lighter unit with the plastic and turned it down. Did not think the weight diff. was worth it. If & when I run at the dunes, I will remove the entire unit and install a sheet of aluminum diamond plate to get rid of the weight entirely. rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  6. Our roof is made from aluminum diamond plate, but I was concern about heat. After being out in 100 degrees there was not a problem. Stayed nice and cool. Our dune antenna attaches to the roof and I can stand or haul anything on the roof. Will post pics soon, just getting over a summer cold. Bummer! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  7. Guess Who? Hello Everyone! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
  8. Guess who! I/We would be on the faster side. It is not uncommon to be doing 50+ if the terrain will allow. BUT I don't abuse with jumps or hammering the suspension. One reason I have not went on one of the organized UTV Rallys is because they go too slow. I watched a bunch of YouTube videos and decided the rallys were not a good fit. My better half has rode with me at 150 mph a couple of times and loves it. Kinarfi, I am 59 1/2. Can't get much closer to 60 than that. But I have been riding & racing since I was 15. Good to see you all! rocmoc n AZ/Mexico
