  1. Quieter exhaust!

I'm sure this is an old topic, but, after doing some research it looks like atv/ UTV riders having been trying to make their rides a little quieter. I've read discussion boards going back 10-15 years of those trying to make their sport ride quieter....but never see a real good answer. I've seen a few suppliers of " Silencers"....but they just lower the tone or reduce sound a few db's. Why haven't the OEM builders designed exhausts systems that are truly quiet from the factory?
  2. Quieter exhaust!

I just looked at Amazon....they have it for 28.00 dont go by the picture...the 22229 muffler is round....and it is the one I used
  3. Quieter exhaust!

Hi Dan...yes the 22229 muffler us the one I used. I got mine from Amazon ..25.00, free shipping word of caution ....there are four springs holding the exhaust pipe on...be patient taking them off. I made a pair of Springg removers...just to make it easier. ugly, but they work great...welded two pieces of flat stock ( 3/4 x 1/8") to a pair of old channeloks john
  4. Hello.....brand new to this site. i just bought a new Hisun Sector 250 for my Grandson. I purchased the unit from Rural King in Greenville, Ohio . First question: I ordered a Sector 250,.... But received a Vector 250. They look identical, just not sure why is has a "Vector 250" label on it. Question# 2:. How do you check the oil level in the unit? The owners manual say to "remove the dipstick and check..." There is no dipstick!! There is a black plastic cap, but no dipstick. I've never heard of any machine not having a way to check the oil. Question# 3: Where is the oil filter? The picture in my owners manual does not seem to match my motor? We really like the unit. We purchased thus one because of the size...doesn't take up much space in the barn. It has plenty of power for what we want to use it for. Does this unit have oil in the transmission? The manual says to check the automatic transmission, but it does not tell how or where? thanks looking forward to some helpful ideas, suggestions etc.. John
  5. hisun strike 250

The exhaust it very quiet now...and no fumes blowing on my passengers in tow
  6. hisun strike 250

Hi strike250.... Good to hear from you I'd like to see what your hitch looks like.....send some pics if you get a chance. Mine was just something thrown together from scrap pieces.....but works real good. Pulled the grandson around with it in the snow with no problem....both snow boarding and sleds. I put a very thin rubber door mat in the bed to keep the weight off the tail gate....its held in and down with two u-clamps up front. Not sure if you noticed , but I also removed the two side guards next to the seat.....easier to get in and out of...and someplace to sit when taking a break...but I don't have extreme hills and dangerous terrain...mostly smooth/ mowed trails and fence line. John
  7. hisun strike 250

If you are just hauling light weight / bulky material.....this is something I did to make the bed larger. Just added a large 59.00 tub to the bed. John
  8. hisun strike 250

Hi DD... i made this one. I just used some 2" angle iron and a piece of 1-1/4" square tubing
  9. Good evening all... Question?...... Has anyone tried shortening the turning radius on a Hisin? I have the Hisun Vector 250... Which is a blast and perfect for what I need and want. The only thing I would change, now,..is to make the turning radius shorter...mine is about 17 ft. I would think a UTV, side x side would be much tighter. any thoughts? John
  10. Quieter exhaust!

    Lol....at my age?
  11. Quieter exhaust!

Range rider ... i cut and welded bent pieces together to get the angles I needed. If I had to do it over, I would have bought a section of 1-1/2" pipe bends from Amazon .....it would have went much quicker. be sure to use a Walker " quiet flow"... They are the quietest. ..25.00 from Amaxon i have seen no difference in performance ...runs great IMG_0918.MOV

Hi Charlie.....the info about the Walker muffler is in the "Hisun discussion" area. ...and yes it us much quieter i have attached two videos showing / hearing the dufference. 19. Quieter exhaust!

Hey all....all done. The new exhausts 100% better....much quieter!! Attached are some before and after pictures. I used a new Walker, Quier-Flow muffler....catalog says its for a 1983 Toyota. It is 6" round..body is 10" long, it has 1-1/2" inlet/ outlet/ offset pipes....I made/ fabricated/ welded the hanger on the muffler. ....and of course bent a pipe to adapt from the existing exhaust.
  20. Quieter exhaust!

Hello all... i removed the exhaust pipe from my Hisun Sector 250. I Installed a 6" round, Walker ( Quiet Flow ) muffler. The OAL was 14". The body is 10" long, with 1-1/2" inlet and outlet pipe diameter. This modification made a very big difference.....much quieter!!! ( I had to make a special tool to remove the 4 springs that hold the 2 pipes together) i do have one question.....why does Hisun use a double wall exhaust pipe. The inner pipe is 1-1/8".... The outer pipe is 1-1/2".... Is this to protect the inner pipe?. reduce heat?..etc???.... And how did they bend both pipes at the same time.....one inside the other??? I'll include pictures with new pipe and muffler tomorrow. John
  21. Quieter exhaust!

Thanks Rich.... I have a couple of brand new Harley mufflers I took off an Electraglide. Start there or go straight for the Car muffler? John
  22. Quieter exhaust!

Hi silverbullet... Thanks for the info. When you say "install a muffler behind the motor", do you mean to remove the existing muffler that came on the unit, then install a car muffler?.... Or do you mean to install car muffler after the existing muffler? i have a Hisun, Sector 250... Just an FYI Orebonder
