  1. :D New tires on 11-03-08 :D

They look big on the front, but a little small on the back, but I think they'll do great.

Took my new tires out for a ride today, cold, 64.8 km 40.3 mi. They seem to perform great, they are a little harder to turn when not moving, larger contact patch, they didn't seem to float around as bad the stockers did, they were smoother, no lugs, I don't think I spun the wheels as much, and they didn't throw rocks as bad as the stockers and what rocks it did throw were small and what little mud I got into didn't get slung as bad. I expect these tires to last a lot longer than stock also. I did some hill climbing and fire roading and no roads and down hills and quad trails.

I give these tires and A+ and would rather have them than stock. I also think they will do better in sand than stock.

  2. and oh yes, glamis is all sand, there are some trails, but not like what most people think of as a trail, it's more a direction or destination, such as the canal that you can't get in any more, or Oldsmobile and the Wall and you can get lost down there too. Mark your camp on you gps so you know which direction to go back to when you're lost.

  3. Just a curious question, are there trails in the area of Glamis or just dunes? I was looking at the KOA in the area and they said that you could ride out of the park, get on the trail and then go to the dunes. I love trails so I was wondering if it would be worth a trip to try them out. I'm looking for riding areas for the winter when we can't ride in Utah.

If you know of an area within a days drive of Las Vegas please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Cinda

As I plan my trips, I use the DeLorme Topo USA 7.0 map system I have installed that works with my GPS and then look at Google Earth. If you have room for it, I highly recommend you download and install it. You can zoom in on glamis and see what's there and you can if you car was in your driveway when the satelite went over.

  4. Ordered 2 fox shocks for the rear last night. they are 23.35 inches long with a 8.50 inch stroke. I should be able to pick them up today. I am getting them for less than 200 apiece. Going to superstition this week-end so i should be able to give you a report on how different it feels.

Looking forward to your report, be sure to take photos.

What is the stock/model number for them.

The weathers has been bad so I haven't been out to test my tires, so no report yet. Working on mods to my hood like latch73 (Lance) did.

  5. Things I wonder About

If you have sex with a prostitute against her will, is it considered rape or shoplifting?

    Can you cry under water?

How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were buried in for eternity?

Why does a round pizza come in a square box?

What disease did cured ham actually have?

How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?

Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake up like every two hours?

If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?

Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?

Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in binoculars to look at things on the ground?

Why do doctors leave the room while you change?

They're going to see you naked anyway.

Why is "bra" singular and "panties" plural?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?

If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a stupid song about him?

Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane ?

If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio out of a coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?

Why does Goofy stand erect while Pluto remains on all fours?

    They're both dogs!

If Wile E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME crap, why didn't he just buy dinner?

If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from vegetables, what is baby oil made from?

If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

Do the Alphabet song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

Why did you just try singing the two songs above?

Why do they call it an asteroid when it's outside the hemisphere, but call it a hemorrhoid when it's in your butt?

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at you, but when you take him for a car ride, he sticks his head out the window?

Do you ever wonder why you gave me your e-mail address in the first place?

  6. The problem with that is the sound comes out 360 deg. and it would be directed right back at you. I was thinking of running a j pipe and another j pipe so i could get it to come out under the middle of the tail lights. I would end up with a big long s between the cat and the supertrapp. I actually bought the pipe with the supertrapp I just haven't decided if I want to keep the cat. If I do this the O2 sensor on the in side of the cat needs to be moved to the first pipe on the header and the O2 sensor passed the cat needs to be moved to right before the supertrapp.

I imagine the O2 sensors are use to check the function of the cat and get different reading and the computer adjusts the fuel air mix accordingly. Losing any of set may effect the operation because the computer know what it wants. I would check with some experts before taking anything out.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catalytic_converter : In vehicles with OBD-II, a second oxygen sensor is fitted after the catalytic converter to monitor the O2 levels. The on-board computer makes comparisons between the readings of the two sensors. If both sensors give the same output, the catalytic converter is non-functioning, and must be replaced. It will also spot less serious damage to a catalytic converter, such as the use of leaded racing fuel in an on-road vehicle.

    MOVED

The new not mounted tire (Front Tire) (on the right) is for sale if anyone wants it, $115 from Joyner, I'll let this on go for $80 + Shipping

  9. Welcome crowdog, looks like you get to play with lots of models, lucky you, as a Trooper Driver, I look forward to your evaluation of it. We came here for a place to be positive and helpful and it's been great. We look forward to your inputs here.

    Jeff

  10. LMAO You all are some funny people!

4X4 - Can't wait to hear the stories. Just remember ... you ain't trying if you ain't getting stuck!

Detbo - That's funny. Good thing you could get a tractor to the pond!

Cinda - Great to be here! Thanks!!

My dad always said," people take cars where only trucks should go, trucks where only 4X4 should go and 4X4 where no one should go." and now I own 4X4 buggy and I'm trying to see where it will go. Sleds were fun when I had them in Wyo. The only thing I haven't had stuck is my Joyner Trooper T2, (so far)

  11. Not 100% clear on this yet but a friend of mine who also owns a T2 had his rear end go out on him the other day. He tore it down and found what looked like one of the bolts that hold the ring gear on had backed out and caused the pinion and ring gear to lock up and striped some of teeth off. He is still in the evaluation process and is in touch with Joyner. I will update as soon as I learn more. :(

Please get photos and post on http://community.webshots.com/user/TrooperFolk

If you need help, let me know.

I think differential info will become important and interesting.

  12. Well I've tried for 3 days to order the rim on line, but I get an error message after choosing shipping instruction. Maybe because I'm in Mexico. I guess I have to do it the old fashion way and use a phone. Anyone have instruction on how to use the phone. LOL

 Put your finger in the hole that has the number you want, and using your finger, turn the dial in a clockwise direction until your finger hits the stop, Clockwise means upwards on the left side, Repeat for all Ten Digits. or tap on the phone hook until the operator answers .............

  13. Yea, I know, I don't plan on having these new tire fail like those Far East tires did and if a front tire does go down, I'll have to move a rear tire forward and put the spare on the rear. A little more work, but at least I have a spare.

What are you doing up so late? I think I'm an insomniac  , what's your excuse?

  14. Went looking for a replacement 18mm 1/2" drive Craftsman socket last night and they were out. I got to looking at my odd ball sockets and noticed that an 11/16 socket fits a little tighter than the 18mm, maybe too tight, and the one I found was a deep 6 sided socket, so I KNOCKED the craftsman off and put it back in it's place in my tool box and welded the 11/16 deep onto my lug wrench. I also put the 11" rear up on top for a spare, I couldn't get the lug nuts to catch so I put a cinch strap around it to hold it on and it pulled the tire down enough to where I could get the lug nuts on and it pulled down to where it seated properly, left the strap on anyway.

I did have to clean up a few lug nuts that got messed up by an air impact wrench or wrong size socket on an air wrennch, SO, I have decided that I will not allow the use of air wrenches on my equipment ever again, I've had too many times where I was out and couldn't get the nuts off because of them, I will also torque all my lug nuts, trooper, car, truck my self.

What are you using for a jack, everyone?

  15. Fuel tanks, When the brackets on my fuel tank broke, I floated on styrofoam, blocked it with wood, padded it with plastic and in general lost it's ground (electrical) so I ran a clip from frame to to the filter clamp, this corrected some problems I was having with my gas gauge and also drains off any static charges that may develop. Still waiting for my new tank.

Flatbed, did you take any photos of your fuel tank modifications?

    Thanks

    Jeff

  16. I like the way they look. You might loose a little in the mud but gain a bit else where. I'll look forward to your comments in the future with them.

    Cheers Mike.

I Really, Really don't like the mud anyway, it is so dirty, even worse than dust, so !!!:blink::lol:
