Sorry that I havent been around much. Been really busy with work and other projects.

I'll start out with what happened in November. On the gas tank, there is a pick-up for the fuel delivery and the return, and the nipple that the delivery hooks too busted because of the cold (I think). Been searching for months to find a replacement or one that would work with it. Finlay decided to fix it with some parts from my local Napa. I got 5/16" fuel line connectors and drilled out and put that in a put some silicon around it. Better than new!

Then, my battery crapped out on me, went every were that sells battery's within 20 mile radius and couldnt find anything! Then I found a big riding lawn mower battery for $36 at Checker Auto (Oriley, etc.) figured if it wouldn't work I could use it on my mower. it fits perfect and starts and turns over the Ruesch great! Im going to get another one to put under the seat to run the lights and radio. Then do a battery isolator .

So for the Ruesch owners out there whos dealers are gone(like mine) or are flakes and cant find some OEM parts, here ya go.

Welcome back. Riding lawn mower batteries are great. That is what I use in my race cars. Watch the silicon, may breakdown from the gas and leak.

Thanks! The battery works great! I wish I would have used these kinds of batteries when I was racing.

The silicone is Loctight Gas and Oil resistant adhesive.

Thought I would give a little bit of a update on the battery and fuel tank fix. Both working well! The battery turns the Ruesch over fine in 30 degree weather (what it was yesterday here).

    • hisun 800 intake backfire/no start

I am working on a friends hisun 800. he said whenever you transport it on a trailer it takes forever to start and he has to floor it to get it to start. he also said it wouldn't go over 30mph like it was being held back. I get it to my house try to start it and all im getting is backfire through intake. I checked spark it was good. I know its a no no but I sprayed a small shot of starting fluid in airbox to see if it would start and it backfired and lit the fluid on fire. currently I am wondering if the valves may be out of adjustment anybody have any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

    • Doesn't want to start

My 2013 500 will only start if I floor the gas pedal and then once it starts I have to pump the gas until it warms up a little it sounds horrible until it warms up.(around 20 seconds)and then it will stay running. The exhaust smells like raw gas for a little while. The throttle body has been changed. Someone suggested the mass air flow sensor could be the problem ( is that the MAP). It has been to 2 different shops with it not being fixed. I haven't been able to ride it since last fall.

      Does anyone have any suggestions?

    • Hisun fuel tank vent problem!!!

Hello once again, this time I want to bring to your attention a problem that I found out the hard way. On one of our previous trips to Dumont Dunes, my son had the great opportunity to roll his Hisun Strike 250 at very low speeds, no damage to him or the vehicle and it landed up right as well. but one thing we noticed was that fuel had poured all over the passenger!!!. Once we got back I looked at it and found the fuel tank vent was of such poor quality that it broke at the fuel tank. Not sure if it was from the roll over or just from being made from poor quality plastic. Well, I found a great long lasting repair and wanted to share it with you all. It is something that is found is pretty much most off road race vehicles. I installed a roll over valve in place of the fuel tank vent. I am including some pics to show you. In the event we roll it over once more, the vent valve will automatically shut off the flow of fuel. It has a ball valve in it and when upside down, it blocks the flow of fuel so that it can't pour out all over the persons in the vehicle and have a potential fire! It is gravity controlled. The valves are low cost at about $15 or so. Cheap insurance when it comes to safety for sure. I cleaned out the hole where the previous fuel tank vent was. I removed the fuel tank pump/filter assembly. I then drilled out the hole just smaller than the ball check valve. I was able to reach into the fuel tank to catch any plastic that the drill might push into the tank as well. I used a fuel resistant sealant on the threads as well. I used a 1/4" NPT thread fuel tank check valve with a 5/15 hose barb. This is a much better product than the OEM product. I would recommend every one install one of these for safety if they get a chance. Or at the very least inspect your fuel tank vents. No one wants fuel leaking on them in the event of a roll over.
