just joined the forum today,have been an offroader for many years ,moved into a utv about 5 years ago & enjoy it very much.we usually ride Ocala national forest g the cooler winter months,camping as often as we can & trail riding . we enjoy meeting new friends with same interests .living in the Tampa Bay area .

hey Travis,to answer your question ,i own a 2012 can am commander x with many upgrades.It has been a great machine ,used for pleasure trail riding & exploring. I stay away from mud !!

Welcome digger! Glad to have you here! That's a nice looking rig you got there. After reading the above, I just have to ask....why are you avoiding mud? High horsepower, lots of clearance, plenty of lugs on the tires. You got it all! Of course it could always be better. But sometimes you just meet your match. Here's the solution to mud. Go in a group, everyone brings a piece of the solution. That is...Knowledge, Experience, Equipment. 

To put it simply, someone has a winch, several people have cables, several people know what's the best plan. It's a beautiful thing when it happens. Sure, everyone gets muddy, but it's not a bad thing. Embrace it! Rolling around in the mud , at dusk, with people you barely know....Its's how REAL friends are made. People who enjoy the same things as you. The kind of camaraderie you bond in the mud, the blood , and the beer can't be faked or bought. It's the real deal. Not like swappin stories at work. Pictures are priceless!!

avoiding the mud due to all the damage it causes to seals ,bearings , suspension & driveline. the stress it can put on a machine is huge.i dont mind going thru some mud puddles to get where i"m going but seems that many down here in Florida like to run their machines in mud , i dont enjoy that.I"v been an automotive master tech for 48 years & have seen many spend their money "fixing"carnage caused by playing in the soup then badmouthing the machine  when it"s usually the fault of the nut behind the wheel.& too many 12 oz curls,lol. i carry all the needed recovery tools & some parts for trail side repairs, usually to help out someone  stuck on the trail.

I can certainly understand your point of view there. I also prefer trails over mud, but I've always just tried to embrace the maintenance that comes with a day of fun. For me, it was worth it. Since it's not my daily drive to work vehicle, it's okay if it's down till it gets a little service done.

      Hey everyone,
      I’m in the market for a UTV windshield that can withstand extreme conditions, including high winds, dust, and off-road impacts.
      I’ve seen a lot of options out there, but I’m unsure which one will provide the best protection and durability.
      Does anyone have experience with windshields that excel in these environments? Are there specific brands or materials you recommend?

      Just received delivery of a 2024 AMP Pro.  Thought I'd start a thread with my impressions as I use it and learn more.  There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of real-world usage information out there on this model.  Hope this will help others as they research.
      Intended Use Cases
      Fire mitigation / slash removal from a 5 acre forested and well-gamble-oaked property.  The previous owners thought as much about fire mitigation as I do about fashion: not much. Snow removal Stump pulling General hauling (rock, lumber, etc.) Weimaraner energy depletion.  Wasn't an original use case, but a nice added bonus.  Experiences So Far
      Wasn't impressed that two of the bumpers on the underside of the bed where it sits upon the frame were missing.  The metal on metal contact has damaged the powder coating and the frame.  I expect a little better QC.
      I've only put a few hours on it, so not a ton to report on usage.  It isn't quiet; it's silent.  I can't even detect an electric note from the motor. I removed (and subsequently replaced) the motor cover noticed that the motor is German and made by Schambuller.  The motor controller is Italian and made by Dana TM4.  Given the operating specs of both I found on the web, I suspect both are higher quality than the previous Navitas (which is supposed to be decent).  The motor is rated at 25 hp and 71.5 lb-ft of torque.  It feels very powerful.  All the torque is delivered instantly, if desired.
      The bed is huge and has an electric dump as standard.  Great feature but would like it to go up a bit more.  Probably not feasible from an engineering perspective, but I want and I need ;).
      Power steering is nice, but vague.  Probably common to many UTVs, but I am accustomed to more direct results from input.  Plan early and plan often.
      In our first full day of usage, we hauled about 1/2 as much slash as the entire rest of the year when I was doing it by hand cart.  I may get fatter, but I'll also get more done.  After a few days of usage, the battery meter has gone down by 1/10th.

      Cheapest UTV?

      If anyone is looking for the cheapest UTV, with dump bed, winch, roof and windshield, I just noticed that lowes has the axis 500/ hisun UTV on sale for 4500 (at least in my area) They are $4500. ($9000 original). I have one - they have some issues, but nothing catastrophic. My biggest complaint is that it is under powered. Also the winch failed. They are still selling an extended warranty - which I would take, just in case. My guess is lowes wants them gone.
