Back when we had our brief polar snap here in Texas last year, my windshield on the mule got iced over so it was hard to see out of of, i kept a washcloth and a container of rubbing alcohol  to help melt the ice... of course it was on 12 degrees or so when i did that, so it may be colder where you are at.

Thanks, Travis. I was born and raised in Dallas where I only saw snow once. Now I live in NW Wisconsin where we already have about a foot of snow on the ground and a low tonight of -21. Our Tracker windshield ices over inside from our breath when we’re snow plowing for 8 hours and it’s hard to see, so I’ll try the alcohol wipe to see how it works. Maybe I’ll carry a bottle of Jim Beam to see how that works! I’m sure after an hour I won’t care! Seriously, thanks for the tip, I’ll try it tomorrow.

I think the current configuration has the fan on the right side of the engine blow across the cylinder head and exhaust to assist in cooling. After that I think the air goes via a tube directly downwards. Is there a way to duct this air to the windshield?

You can also look for a defroster for the old air-cooled VWs. Back in the 60s and 70s we used to add these little 12v units to help defrost the windshield. A word or caution, as this may be more of a load than the stock stator can support, so if you go this route, I would add a 12v battery under the driver's seat, and power the defroster from that, You can charge the battery while you are not driving the Tracker.

Here's a link to the type of defroster/fan unit I am referring to:

Thanks. Funny you should talk about those old VWs. I had a ‘69 Beetle with the same windshield problem when I lived in the Chicago area. I had a window ice scraper in the passenger seat to clear off the interior ice. I’d forgotten about that!

I’ll check out a defroster! Thanks!

2015 mule......i run a portable generator in the bed when plowing, with a small electric heater in the cab for warmth.....to keep the windshield from fogging,  i have a small 12 volt fan that directs air to the windshield.........that keeps fog at bay....for the exterior, i have no windshield wiper so i carry a squeegee to keep it clean....been using this method for several years, works like a charm.........

Runs fine just putting around the yard. Get it out on the road and about a half miles it runs out of gas. Let it idle for a few minutes and it will run for another half mile and do it again. Replaced both fuel pumps and filter. Does anyone know if I can get rid of the factory fuel pump?

Hello, All!  I've decided to replace the traction batteries in my 2018 Sector E1 with a 48V Lithium set. They may be expensive, but I figure the Discovery Dry Cell are, too. I am not looking for the max driving range, as I have never received near the brochured range to begin with, but a good mix of charge/ get work done/ charge is what I am expecting.
I have settled on the 48V EAGL kit from bigbattery dot com. Each battery pack provides 30Ah. The kit ships with a charger, as well. The packs would be physically connected in parallel (using a busbar) to one another, maintaining the 48V voltage, but together would be able to provide the amp draw the buggy pulls when going up hill or towing a rake (rated 320 max continuous Amps). This is in comparison to the serial connection the eight 6V lead batteries. Each of the EAGL batteries looks to have its own BMS; am I correct in thinking I will have to use their included charger rather than (simply) changing the onboard charger to lithium mode? The chemistry of the pack is LiFe PO4, for what it's worth.  I haven't torn anything apart yet (to diagram), so  I am not sure how the dash will interpret the AMP draw, but the kit I am looking at includes a dash mounted charge indicator.
If anyone has completed a similar conversion, do you have any tips? Specifically, how did you remove the original batteries, and how did you secure the new ones? I am guessing that almost any change from the stock batteries would involve at least some modifications. Any tips would be appreciated, especially things I may have failed to consider. Thanks!

I have an X3 Max and I currently run the Can-Am rearview mirror alongside a Swamp Donkey stereo system mounted to the roof. Is anyone here familiar with this exact setup?
I’m looking to upgrade to a proper can-am Maverick x3 max front windshield made of glass so I can run a manual wiper. Does everything clear the stereo and mirror mounts just fine, or are there clearance issues? Also, which glass windshields out there are actually worth spending the money on?
I currently have the Can-Am hard-coated poly windshield, but I am really tired of not having a wiper and having to constantly stop and squeegee after hitting a few mud puddles or dealing with this Michigan snow, mud, and water holes!
      Any advice would be huge.

I had been driving for about 15 minutes, everything fine. All of a sudden the engine was surging, losing power, would run with 1/2 throttle or greater and was backfiring badly. Luckily I was close to home and got it back. The tipoff to me was that I thought I was hearing intake noise. Sure enough, the rubber boot which connects the air cleaner and intake piping to the throttle body came loose. Obviously the computer was confused. It turned out to be an easy fix, but this is now added to my inspection list. Just thought this might help someone else.
