  1. I grew up in Kansas which is the closest thing you will find next to Iowa. There is no comparison of the mid-west to Utah. Ya got to go. Ya go once and you WILL return for more. Come to the Jamboree which I think is going to be in Southern Utah next. Then your wife will have someone to enjoy the time in UTAH with besides her big kid & she may come away with a different view of taking the Toy to UTAH. At least get to the West side of the Rockies. A whole different world and it isn't FLAT, LOL!

  2. Rocmoc,

Probably because those plastic end tanks would easily break or crack from vibration i think ill look for new aftermarket one maybe even bigger surface area one but with high flow low density fins would be the way to go i believe

    Agree!

  3. Rocmoc i agree i have had great luck in the past with Ford Taurus 3.0 v 6 fans set up i pulled the shroud and writing everything and hooked it up in my 89 s10 it fit like dream

Also will radiator shop change outlet on a plastic/aluminum factory stock radiator?

    I don't know?

Everything I have read does not recommend the plastic tanked/end radiators for off-road use. This is info I have read about on Jeeps.

  4. Any good radiator shop can change out the outlets to where ever & want ever size you want. I just had the bottom outlet moved to the other side on my Jeep. I upgraded my original '69 radiator with a much larger & a 3 core radiator out of a '78 Jeep. It cost me $50 to the the outlet moved and the radiator cleaned & checked. I am also adding a dual electric fan setup out of a late '90s Ford product, the V6 or V8 (not the 4 cyl). Seems to be the upgrade setup for Jeeps. Fan with plug in pigtails (wire loom) cost me $40 at the local junk yard, mine is out of a '99 Cougar. The fan pushes around 2600+ CFM and can be setup to run one fan, both fans @ low speed or high speed and off. Should a new fan be required to replace the Ford fan, they sale for $108 on the net at one of the parts sites.

  5. BusDave9. thanks for the great info. Already have my reseravtion @ Ridgway and this trip is as much about road driving to the local towns (and staying cool) as it is driving the trails. If we can ever get a group together it sounds like we have a great boondocking location. I'm not a fan of boondocking by myself as it leaves the equipment alone too long. Stuff happens when you are away. My plan is to do a couple of days of the easier trails as this trip will be the first for the Jeep. Want to make sure all the bugs are worked out before I get to aggressive as I have changed everything, steering, brakes, suspension & more. Thanks again!

  6. Off-Road Warehouse is one of the best. I will share info if & when they call. BUT I found a shock that is fine for my Jeep yesterday for a 1/3 of the cost, Skyjacker Softride. Already ordered and paid for. Since the Jeep will be used more as a daily driver & toad behind the motorhome, I decided at this time the Skyjacker would do the trick. I know you get what you pay for and I may end up wasting $. Will see!

  7. charlie, Beware this is a new product and not everyone (I don't think anyone) has the tools or training to revalve this shock yet. I am looking at the same shock for my Jeep and am working with Off-Road Warehouse in San Diego. They are a very big outfit and THEY have not received the tools or training yet. I just spoke to them this morning and they were calling Fox to see WHEN they would receive the tools & training. I will update when I hear back from them. Just beware the setup may not be what you wish when they arrive. Make sure who ever you purchase from will stand behind the one free revalving no matter how long it takes. Off-Road Warehouse says normally the revalve has to take place in the first 30 days after purchase. I will make sure they extend the time period for my should I purchase. I also have them asking what valving the shocks come with from the factory. The last time I purchaed Fox from them the factory valving was way too harsh. Good luck!

  10. I had the same problem when I pulled my rear driveline for the first time. What I did -

I backed my pickup to the Trooper. I place a 4x4 wood post between a solid location on the Trooper & my trailer hitch. I wrapped a chain/strap around the driveline. I used a come-a-long between the chain/strap & the trailer ball and started taking in the slack. After I had A LOT of tension on the come-a-long, I tapped the head of the driveline (the part that was stuck) with a hammer. It came flying out. Be very careful! Next time the dirveline came out with just a pry bar.

  11. Weather would be much cooler. Here is some inof, http://www.jeep-cj.com/forums/f100/2nd-annual-colorado-jeep-cj-com-trail-ride-12496/index5.html Look at page 5 with the date 06-03-2012 posted by BusaDavey9 of the Itinerary. I am sure we could find these trails. We will arrive afternoon of Aug. 13th, play Aug. 14-16 (3 days) & head home Aug. 17th. Only hang-up is completing the Jeep. Anyone interested? What ya think?

  12. Try shooting some penetrating oil in the axle end. Support the diff so the axles are vertical and shoot the oil in the lower axle. Let is set of a while, swap ends and do the same to the other axle end. The water & crud can get inside and cause the clip/ring to stick. Let it set for a day or two before trying again. This assumes you took everything out as a unit. If not jack up one side of the Trooper and spray, let set, then jack up the other side. They can be a pain.

  13. You bet! We are meeting some NEW Canadian friends who own a Metal Detecting business in Canada. There will be an extra for us to use and this is something on the bucket list. We will be there for a few days & will have the Jeep with us. I will update the date when we tie it down. Going to find a HUGE gold nugget, LOL!

  14. Especially because we are only needing it because joyner put out POS system in the first place.

Disagree! The unit works well but needs to be waterproofed. Even with the major off-road toys manufactures, Honda, Yamaha & others, you have always had to waterproof and continue waterproofing. I raced many of them thu the years in wet weather. Mine Joyner unit worked great but I never played in the water. If you notice where electrical issues are arising on the Trooper, it is mostly in areas where people play in water or wet weather. Where do they come for quality older cars, dry climate. Water is a killer!
