  1. 4x4x454, this is what I like http://www.simextyres.co.nz/simex-article....cle=-2092972571 if only they made one our size. Never the less, something along this paten is the way I want to go for my terrain (mud, rocks and metal roads). Does anybody know of another brand with this type of tread paten?

    Cheers Mike.

    silverbullet.

Mike we have found Super Swamper27-9.5-14 dot.Or27-10-14 6 ply .Maxxis big horn 6 ply nice ride but great on any terrain. GBC Grim reaper 27-11-14

27-9-14 8 ply. Hope this will help

  2. I had a good look a few of these units and know a friend who bought a knockoff Rhino, since then he regretted every minute of it. There are a million different manufactures of these units and they all seem to be of the same caliber. I have read about this topic more than once and it seems that the general consensus is that you get what you pay for. I recomend finding the UTV buyers guild and doing some investigating. I personally went with Joyner and one of the biggest selling features was the 3yr warranty that is available.

    Chris

    Silverbullet.

Hi Chris If i were you i would check out the Joyners. They make many different models.Thear are more jeep like with no body.Since the drive train

is from a car.All utv have thear qurks inc Rhino-Ranger-arctic cat.Just go to thear forums.WITH JOYNER 3 YR WARRANTY. It covers almost every

thing. Except clutch cables brakes. So go have some fun and test ride them.If the dealer wont let you drive one go some whear else.Silverbulletmotorsports.net

  3. Thanks Mike.

Maybe I just have a bum air box because I just cant get a good seal unless I use grease on the filter flange. I used the STP equivalent air filter (don't remember the part #). It did seam to have a better fit and is a little more stout. I think I am going to put a UNI prefilter on the snorkel intake as well and see how that works.

    Silverbullet.

Yes get ride of the box.Just use snorkel and the the uni air filter.

  4. I just wanted to post a bad luck story I heard from the father of a Trooper owner today. I don't know if something happened that I didn't hear about but it seamed worthy enough to at least warrant a check. His engine quit running and after the dealer tryed about everything they took a compression check. Spec calls for he said 120#, they got 90 on one cylinder and 60 on the rest. Upon teardown there was very very fine sand in the engine that they claimed actually went right through the air filter. The cylinders were scorred and obviously the piston rings to. He had 200 miles on the unit but was out of warrenty. He is giong to switch to a K&N filter.

Right or not, I'm checking my filter by removing it and see what I can see on it and in the manifold. You may want to do the same.

    Lenny

    Silverbullet. Hi Lenny

The K&N air filter w/charger is very good. The best part is you can take the charger of and just shake the major crap off.But the Uni Filter is the best.Just more mantiance. An it's not toexpensive

  5. i still have the stock filter and have been oiling it. I would like to repalce it but since losing my job i would ddo other stuff with the $50 tahn buy a filter. I just wanted to know what people meant when they said they were no good

    Silverbullet.

The stock filter & charger are of a cheep fiber the sock that is covering the filter is not tight enought.Just take a ride in the sand and take it off and

you will see sand in the throttle body. The weave is not tight enought. To keep the small stuf out.

  6. I have been looking at several different China made UTV's, especially the HiSun Yamaha Rino copy. I want to know if anyone has any first or second hand info on the quality/reliability of these machines (or any other China UTV's), who makes the engines, and availability of replacement parts. Also, who is a good reputable dealer/source to do business with? What internet sellers are running scams, as I would like to stay away from them.

I do not own a UTV as of yet, that's why I'm asking.

    Thanks,

    Mike

    Silverbullet.

Hi mike glad to see you on our site.As far as i know .And i am a JOYNER DEALER i would never buy any thing but a Joyner. We found the bigest

problum with any of these utv's Is you cant get parts for them.I see it says Yamaha. What i would do call Yamaha dealer to see if they will be stocking

parts for these utv.At Joyner it took 6 yrs.to get it right. And we are still getting the small things right. We carry over 2 million dollors in parts. In this market if you cant get parts you out of luck.I have never heard any thing about this model. So i dont know what to tell you.Any question's give me a call.928 344 2117

  7. I have mine back down at the engine and it isn't collecting any more dirt then when it was above. However I have all the holes in the skid plates taped shut and I have a foam dam blocking air from going throgh the driveshaft tunnel. Before I blocked the dirty air sources, my filter got dirty much quicker. When it was on a snorkle, I also had my windshield on which made it get dirty faster. I now have removed the windsheild and will redesign it for the cold weather so it doesn't create a vacume behind it. So far, I'm not seeing any reason to move my filter back up high.

    Lenny

    Silverbullet.

Hi lenny. We always want to get cold air in to the intake as much as possible it makes the motor happy. When you come up with the new windshield

idear i would like to see what designe you came up with.We are going to try a small curve in back of roof may be 1/2".

  8. Has anyone added a snorkle for their air filter? We noticed that our air filter was dirty really fast this summer. We actually didn't have the problem until the trails got so dry and dusty. So george has been talking about moving it up higher to keep it cleaner and help it breathe. Do you know if there is a kit that I can buy to surprise him? Yes I'm looking for Christmas and Birthday ideas (LOL). The man is hard to buy for because if he sees something he wants and needs he buys it before I even heard about it.

we sell kits for the trooper complete with K&N air filter. With filter 129. w/out filter 69.50

  9. Went to the dunes yesterday and then took off for Cherry Creek, had a good ride that had just about everything but water, my choice. My son drove and was a little more aggressive than I am, but that let me watch the snorkel, the scenery, the gps so we didn't miss any turns and take pictures. The snorkel worked as expected, PERFECT, took air in filtered air and passed it to the engine, didn't make enough noise to be heard, didn't slow me down.

I couldn't tell any difference at all, except for a clean filter at the end of a 139.9 km, 86.9 mi ride.

I really, really liked my modification and it worked great, mounting method included, I did scoot it down a bit and secured it at the hole with some lighter bungy cord and some padding to give the filter more clearence from the roll bar. The filter itself rattles a bit and needs to be siliconed around the rubber mount to the plastic base or maybe replaced with a K&N.

One thing my son & noticed, at 6000 rpm, 55.5 MPH (via the GPS), there seemed to be a REV limiter. Has any one else noticed this? We only hit it once and didn't try to hit it again.

I also added a few picture and a movie to my site, http://community.webshots.com/user/kinarfi

    Silverbullet.

Yes the trooper has a rev limiter.

  10. what is the problem with the stock filter ? People are saying that it lets dirt past but its also said that the filter is dry and needs to be oiled. Is there a problem with the stock filter id its oiled ? How about with a K&N Foam pre filter

    Silverbullet.

The stock air filter Is NO GOOD!The air filter we use is a K&N filter with filter charger. This is the best for all most any trail rides on dirt.If you due a lot of sand then we would go to a uni filter w/cover.And thear oil .But they take more work to clean. The best all around filter is K&N RU3560=charger.

  11. I own a Joyner Trooper of which I enjoy greatly and have huge tires & wheels for the sand.

Your Rhino is a great machine, take the money and upgrade your Rhino. OR sale the Rhino and get a RZR or bigger engined Rhino which are both good in the sand. The Trooper is good in the sand ONLY IF you spend the money to upgrade to huge tires & wheels. Easier with a RZR or Rhino if Sand is really important to you. The more machines you have, the more time you will spend repairing them. JMHO!

Troopers run great in the sand.We ride and test at GLAMIS All the time.Even with stock tires we can climb Comp hill at butter cup !It just takes

a little know how.Sand tires like Sand stars and troopers can climb almost any thing.Troopers with h/d clutch's can rock climb as well.

Diffs B-clutch B- trailing arms b- We do chromoly trailing arms 3/4 chromoly himes.Sorry 'rocmoc' JOYNERS AND ONLY JOYNERS.

I was talking about 800 viper or 1100 viper for the sand.I sell joyners not Rhino's I dont own Rhino.Trooper are great even in the sand with the right set up.So JMHO dont know what you mean.Sorry you got the wrong info.Silverbulletmotorsports.net

  13. Hello I am a newbie to this forum and all forums. I live in Colorado and own a Rhino 450. I am considering buying a joyner sand spider 650 or a viper 800. I would appreciate some pros and cons. Am looking to ride on easier trails where 4x4 is not required. Will use on some dunes. Thank you any advise would be helpful

    silverbullet.

If you want the 800 viper i would look at 1100 viper it is only about 1000.00 more but has lots more power. And for dunes you need

all the power you can get. Both good buggys. Now the 650 spyder is good for trail riding but not for the dunes if you dont need 4x4 go with the vipers. They run great 1100 viper sand star work great at the dunes.Good luck!

If you dont need 4x4 then get the 1100 viper Its about 1000.00 more but it is a little bit bigger and has a lot more power. The 800 viper is a good buggy to .But for the extra power the 1100 viper is the best buy.Viper we sell for $9500.Good luck injoy the test ride

you will be surprised. Not much storage except on the roof and in little trunk.Vary well built.Almost bullet proof. If you want to run in the dunes do not buy the 650 spyder dosent have the power.Good for trail's only.

  15. A hardy thank you to JG's UTV. He was able to get me an actuator and told me what it took to install it. He mailed it and it got to me fast. With his input I installed it with no hassle.

The only thing that was a bit surprising is there isn't a bracket on my Trooper for the bolt under the actuator. I made sure the other two were tight and I don't see the missing bolt as a problem.

Thanks again for every ones help.

    Hi'Gumball' welcome!

  16. I used the back plastic panel of the original electric actuator unit. It has the seal for both the shaft and the hole going in. I kept the mount tabs and the pocket that reaches back to the pin and the little sleeve that pushes into the dif and holds the seals. My other assembly layes over this including the mount tabs. In other words it sort of sandwiches to it. When I activate the 4wd buy pulling the cable it pulls on the shaft which holds the pin pushing arm and withdraws it so the pin can come out on its own. It's sprung loaded inside the dif. When I release the pull on the cable, the spring ( used from the original electric assembly ) pushes from it's stationary end which is the end to the rear while also pushing the pin pushing arm to push the pin in. The spring allows the pin to get pushed in when it's ready and lined up inside, thus not forcing it.

    GOOD IDEA.

  17. Yeah, pics & prices of the trailing arms!

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Hi silverbulletmotorsports.net the price is 548.00 for stock arms.No bushings

Ours are all chromoly with 3/4 chromoly himes. We charge 845.00 for both sides

With the himes you can adjust to fit joyner even if the mounting points are not square

    we give you h/d bolts

  18. Most of the people here are doing it for a few hundred dollars instead of a thousand. There are at least three that I know of that have built power steering for the trooper and i would be surprised if anyone spent more then five hundred. I would like power steering but I will build one before I spend a grand for one. I realise that is what the manufacturers are charging but a lot of people cant afford or are just not willing to spend that much after spending $12,000 on the ride.

    Hi 4x4x454

Thear is always an upside& down side. When you buy a product that has been tested over the years you get a system that works right out of the box.if you guys can make your own powersteering that works right out of the box. That is vary good.We could have

made a system of our own but we left it to the experts.I know one of your club members has a complete hydraulic system and loves

it.He said he payed much more i know the system it cost about $1500.00.Also we sell T2 for 11,000.It was only and option. Also some members can't make thear own.

Lenny, want to collaborate on an electric power steering? I looked at the splines on the input shaft to the Socket and if a gear was cut to fit those splines with an outer diameter of about 4.5" driven by a .6" X 4.5" gear driven by a .6" sprocket on a 1.31 in-lb 3456 rpm motor. If we create a gear reduction of 57 to 1, we get 1 rev/sec at 6.288 ft-lbs. This assembly could be mounted to the cover cap or even replace the cap or mount it by replacing the input shaft bearing cover with a larger piece of steel that has holes that line up with the socket mounting holes.

We have a kit. Electric power steering by marvel ind.All the utv racing cars are starting to use it.Big tires heavey loads no problem

  20. I have been riding duel sport motorcycles (mostly 2 up) for the last 50 years. Due to old injuries bothering me on the current motorcycle (bmwr1150gs) I'm thinking of a switch to a dune buggy. I've looked at the Trooper and talked to the dealer and he says no problem using it on the roads. I live in the mtns in virginia.

How do they handle on back paved roads. My intention would be to use it 60% mtn back roads paved, 35% gravel/dirt forest service roads and 5% trails.

I put 4K to 5K miles per year on the motorcycle and would want to use the Trooper the same. Will this work? If so will it hold up to the miles?

Thanks to all for info or opinions.

    Robert.

    'Medicinedog'

The trooper will work out very well.If you do all maintenance it should give you years of service. The steering is a little heavy. I would recommend upgrading to the electronic steering rack. Other than that it should be perfect. Most breakdowns are from lack of maintenance anyways. - silverbullet
