  1. David,

I agree with brostar and rocmoc. The important thing is the spare parts but also to listen to the experienced joyner owners here who have a wealth of experience that your joyner product could benefit from. As just recently purchasing my Trooper T4 I am not anywhere near as experienced as most of the members here but have found their knowledge very valuable. I too thank you for your time.

for those of you who haven't been inside their differentials yet, I highly recommend that you do, and change the bolt and make sure this set screw is tight, if it backs off, the pin can come out and grind away at the inside of the diff. take a look at the whole album.

    Kiarfi,

Can this be put up in one of the pinned folders so anyone looking for special or unique fixes will see it?

    Thanks Kinarfi,very helpful.

  4. I feel OK about it, of coarse wished it wasn't so. I bought my Trooper for the long run. It still comes closest to what I prefer to have then the other stuff out there. Besides my Trooper isn't too much like stock anymore. It's still just as much fun and still provides lots of opportunity for improvement which I truly enjoy doing. Probably shouldn't do hole shots anymore, don't want to bust things. I never did that anyway. If there are enough request for diff upgrade kits, i'll go ahead and make up another batch. I havn't done it because they are sort of expensive to put together and most of the forum members that wanted them have them. Didn't want to get stuck with a lot of kits. They would be $135 per diff this time.

    Lenny

Are you still planning on putting some kits together?

  5. I always find the fluid silvery on first oil change, even after only about 2 miles, But re-shimming the diffs and upgrading the bolts is the way to go, else you will be forced to source a new Diff in the future if it decides to let go.. I know I just ordered a nice stockpile of the upgraded diffs for all units.. Jarrad

I thought you said your ordered a nice stockpile of upgraded diffs,so what you have is stock and then you upgrade them? so you have no price yet?

what do you get for the upgraded diffs?

  7. Fixed the photo link for you,

I suggest you read and consider order the diff kit from Lenny, especially if you oil ever starts to look silvery.

Differential Upgrade Kits are available - UTV BOARD - Side X Side and UTV Forum

    Kinarfi

Thank you,i just seem to have proplems with the photos.

Dont know if you can see it but at the bottom of photo you can see the oil,it does look silvery. What does the kits consist of and are they available for front and rear.I saw his post and may end up ordering them.

  8. I use Royal Purple exclusevly.. Even new units first thing on un-crating is to drain the diffs and tranny and install RP 75W-90 I get it at oreilly's autoparts.. about $17 a quart, I think you guys call them HI/LO out there, but any auto parts store should have it

Do you use 75-90 in the tranny also?

  9. Does anyone have or know of a bench seat for the t4? If so where can I get one?

    FYI

I was going through their listings on craigslist and I think t was on the add for the racks that in the backround of the picture they had of all the racks i saw what appeared to be some bench seats.I called the number and spoke to Rick and he said those were custom made for renegades by another vendor and had them on consignment and they do fit a trooper with a little mod work.I ordered one and paid $250.00 for it.

okay thanks, but still would like to know about the grease coming out the side wher the axle goes into the diff,is it something to worry about?

  11. Same as mine with the first oil change but my diff had a magnet in the diff on the drain plug to catch metal. What did you use to replace the oil? I used Royal Purple and later in a discussion with Casey at Joyner, he agreed Royal Purple being the best. Pricey but great stuff.

havnt yet.what about the grease out the side?I tryed to put a photo but cant. The photo is on the top of the home page at the moment.Where can i get the oil?

    Thanks rocmoc.

  12. I decided to change the oil this afternoon and while geting down underneath I noticed what appeared to be grease coming out of the side of the diff.I then decided to pull the plug on the diff and there was a mound of thick oil on the end of the threads.I rubbed it between my fingers and it felt gritty.I them put a magnet in it and out came some metal shavings, not a whole lot.The oil also seemed dark grayish.I am going to try to post a picture below.Any thoughts?

    Thanks,

  13. There is major threads/topics on this site just on that subject. Lenny makes a kit that cleans up some of the problems.

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

I have read about the kit Lenny makes.I will do a search as to the problems.Thank you as usual Rocmoc you have have been a great help in my many questions.

  14. I have never seen or have any data on Joyner shocks. Maybe the owner's manual.

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Thats what I was getting at,the manual does have instructions on how to adjust them with a graph but I dont understand it.

    Thanks

  15. Great, I would love to have a set of lower gears. With the 31" tires, I need just a little lower for rocker climbing. Existing gear are perfect for everything else and are OK for the rocks if the lower gears are not available or too pricey!

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Other than you wanting lower gears is there any major problems with the diffs on the troopers?

    Thanks

  16. I have found a company in Wisconsin that makes a 1 rotor rotary motor suppossed to produce 100~hp I have been contemplating this and trying to adapt to a trooper.. I enjoy the mazda rotary in my RX7

I was one of the first 5 or 6 people to buy a new RX2 here in Orange county back in 72.I think it was the seals they had problems with then but that car had powerand was smooth running. One of their selling points was that at idle you could take a nickel and stand it up on end on the air cleaner.

  17. I agree with Mike.. They factory seems to be willing to work with us dealers.. As far as it goes I still have a stock of parts and plan on ordering up a stock of our most commenly used parts and Some of the oddball things I get a lot of requests for that we order everytime I get asked for it.. Don't forget the Diffs I am planning on ordering quite a few of them.. half are already sold as soon as they hit my hands.. Damn you commando users :)

I do know from personal experience they are shiping orders out from their ebay store.I placed an order for the brush guard they have on ebay last wednesday(knowing i was taking a risk)and it arrived today.I hope everyone else that has done the same and those waiting on the return of items sent to them for repair have the same results.

  18. Yea I have heard that also.We are actually going a little north of that at a campground that has access to the trails.Supposed to be hundreds of miles of em and one is supposed to go all the way to the colorado river.Just going to go on the trails and head down to the dunes for a half day ride to check it out.Like you said too many people.

Well got here friday night and it took 2 hours longer than expected due to traffic of course(california madness).Went out yesterday 95 mile trip and saw many great sites and have taken some good videos as well as pics. Leftearly this morning and another long ride but only 60 miles.Plan on coming back cause we still did not make it down to to the dunes.Hope all of you had a great weekend.
