  1. Thx All,

I finally am looking at hatched chickens. The R-2 idles fine. It was a sticky IAC sensor. After a year and a 1/2, I can finally chalk up some miles. Thx for everyone's input.:)

    Frankie

    Frankie.

Great to hear it.Now you have a new proplem, putting all those lost miles on her(LOL).Have fun and maybe we will see you around there sometime.

  2. It's a T4. My fan comes on when you turn the key to the start postion, then turns off, but then when you start it it comes on right away. I was woundering if your's was the same?

yep, mines the same.all that way from what i understand.where do you ride?

  3. Thanks ricksrb,

Hope some one has an answer. Also does your fan come on right when you start or does it only come on when it's needed?

It comes on at starting,if you turn the key to on position(just before the starter engages) it comes on for a few seconds then shuts off .Hope that makes sense.Didnt ask before but what joyner do you have?

  4. What would cause the Temp warning light to come on very dim the minute I start my joyner? Would it be a ground or faulty sensor?

    Big Red.

Welcome,I dont have an answer for you but someone who does will chime in soon.We hve many people on here with the knowledge that will be of help.

  5. Put me down for the piston, a T2 soft top and the oil pump. It will ship to 84737. I also left a phone message please call me.

    Lenny

    Lenny,

I think I already got the only oil pump he had.I too ordered the soft top for my T-4,looks real good for the price.I wont know how it fits until this weekend.I ordered these two items plus a few others last Thursday and they arrived yesterday, very pleased.

  6. Just talked with Casey with the new Joyner distributor. Has a parts inventory on the way from China. On the ocean now and should be here from 4 to 6 weeks from now. Said that they have set up a several part quality requirment program that the China manufacture must meet before they will accept any vehicles.

    Lenny

Jeff called me this morning just to let everyone know pretty much the same thing. They are attempting to get the parts left at the old joyner place from the bank that now owns them.He also wanted to make sure to let everyone know to email or call him or Casey with any parts requests.Email addresses and phone numbers are on the new webpage.

  7. When are parts going to be available thu our Dealers? OR are they cutting out the local Dealer?

    rocmoc n TX/AZ/Mexico

Not sure,I am sending a message now to find that out along with some other questions.

  8. Hi All,

Still not counting chickies, but day two and it idles fine. The only thing I have done different is putting pedal to the medal before ignition. I know this is not necessary for fuel injection, but if it works, I'm happy. I removed throttle sensor and IAC, and sprayed both internaly with contact spray. So far so good. Thx for everybody's input. Learning allot. And here I thought I was just a "turn key" kind of guy...................:)

    Lenny,

Does IAC stand for "internal air control"?

    Thx,

    Frankie

    Frankie,

Congrats, must feel like a weights been taken off your shoulders. We will all keep our fingers crossed.Keep us posted and dont run off from us and not stay in touch.

  9. Why would you do that instead of buying a T4? I agree with Brostar install a bench seat in the T4. I'm sorry but that thing looks like an accident waiting to happen and unfortunately its going to be a child in the back that is (IMO) going to get seriously injured or killed. I have a very hard time sometimes understanding stupid people. I wonder if they replaced the rear deck or if it's still plastic.

Funny thing,I contacted the guy just to find out where he got the bench seat.I had ordered one from joyner to replace the two rear buckets in my T4 but they never sent it.He told me the rear cage with the bench seat was custom made and fastens to the rear same as stock rear cage,on a hinge. He said he is willing to part with the cage and bench seat for 2,400.Cost him over 3k for the seat and custom cage. From what i understand it was for his kids, mentioned the bench seat had the high backs so his kids head would not whip back over the top of the seats as they would in a Rhino or Razr.

  10. I will have to take a closer look at the speedo. I powerwashed it last night and see the seats each hold a pool of water, thinking about drilling some holes in the seats to give the water a place to drain, any of you done that?

I just tilt them forward towards the windsheild and use a bungy cord to hold it while it drys then wipe em down.

  11. I want to first thank all you guys for responding, it is reassuring to me to have the support !!!

It is a 2008 street legal. I was told it has had the upgraded steering that took out all the play it had in the steering wheel. Also the guy just picked it up from American Powersports last night with a complete upgraded rear end with the new the bolts that wont back out. and told it has the upgraded axles. I know it has a lot of other extra stuff added like fender bars, windshild, wipers etc and it has 1100 miles on it. From what I can tell by visual inspection the brake pads will need to be replaced soon. When I hit the brakes the pedal seem hard as a rock. Currently has 15 inch wheels and 23" tires DOT. but also got an additional set of 14" wheels with 27" off road tires.

The roter look very good and smooth so i am wondering with 1100 miles would this still be the original pads or whould the have been changed a few times already?

I was looking at the steering today and the shaft that pushes through the steering box seems to be maxed either way I turn it, looks like they could have added an inch to each end to make it turn sharper but its quite possible I am an idiot.

I am very excited to see how it does on the trails and planing a trip somewhere in Texas or surounding states that have nice trails that cater to this UTV and the quads. If any any of you guys got any suggestions where to go around here that would be great.

I just needed to make sure this was normal or not.

It also has the overhead light bar, the lights worked when I bought it but soon as we turned them on 5 minutes afterwards it blew the fuse. There was a 15amp fuse blown, is this the correct fuse amp to run these lights? Seems small to me to run 4 lights.

Thanks again to all of you for your help and support!!!

i looked at the manual for my 09 and it shows a blue fuse(best i can tell looks like it says 10 amp on it)for the spot lights.

  12. Well, maybe I can come up with an answer. I'm going to just think out loud here while trying to logically understand what is happening. Now that I have mine running, it is doing sort of the same thing, reving. I had the problem before but it didn't only happen when cold. On mine, the throttle body is up high where I can get at it easily to adjust the idle screw. That makes it easy to play around with some ideas. Mine wants to idle at 500 RPMs when I start it. The computer should be pushing that up to 900, which is the default factory setting in the computer, by opening the IAC but it doesn't. When I adjust the idle screw up,the idle controllably climbs like it should but sometimes when it hits 900-1000 rpms, it starts to rev to maybe 3000. I have to shut it off and restart it, then i'm back to 500. Before when I had the problem, I just eliminated the IAC. Keep in mind that if the IAC is open when you unplug it, it will still rev. I actually pulled the IAC and plugged off the port. This worked. I ran this way for a long time and saw no ill effects regained control of my idle rpms. There is only one way the engine can rev higher. That is to get more air. If you have a manifold leak, it will want to rev. If the leak is closing up when things heat up it will idle down. Another way is for the IAC to open. In order for it to open, it needs current from the computer or I suspose if you had a intermitant short giving it current that could do it too. The IAC sends nothing back to the computer, it is simply a slave devise that is susposed to obay computer commands. By disconnecting it you just stop it from excuting a command. The computer doesn't know it's not there it just sees a need for more rpms and keeps sending current to the IAC to rev the engine and waits for the RPM sensor to report the desired rpms have been reached at which time the computer would stop sending current to the IAC. The computer can send current to the IAC to either retract (open) it or close it depending on what is needed for rpms. The final way is to turn the idle screw in farther. On my Trooper I'm going to first just eliminate the IAC like I did before and I suspect that I will now have control over the idle using the idle screw. For my use this works fine. On a car with air conditioning for example, when the air is turned on it wants to pull down the rpms but the computer sees this and immediately opens the IAC to compensate for the extra pull on the engine so the car keeps idling at the same RPMS. On my Dodge diesel 6 spd stick, I can put it in say 3 gear at take off and not push on the throttle pedal. The truck once it gets moving wants to scoot ahead and gain some speed. It accelerates until the engine is holding its minimun idle rpms. This is also the IAC responding to the computer. The only other thing that I can think of that gives the computer information causing it to ask for more rpms is the RPM sensor which should be some where on the bell housing and reading probably off the flywheel. If this sensor had a poor connection or was defective, the computer could be seeing an inaccurate reading of rpms and responding accordingly. Other then that, I can't think of any other sensor that gives the computer information that makes it want to change the rpms. That said, then is has to be a leak, bad IAC, bad RPM sensor, bad cinnection, short or a bad commputer. Wow, I'm out of wind.

    Lenny

    Lenny,

I was out of wind just reading it..This would be good to put in a trouble shooting topic. That was great.Thank you.

  13. Rick,

Maybe you missed it, but I had the machine in Tempe for this prob and all Casey did was replace battery. Then he sent me a MAS sensor. Then Joyner went kaput. So he did not know either. Remember, this has been going on since Aug of 08.

There is only 800 miles on the R-2 which shows how much I haven't enjoyed driving it. He was warantee'ing it but now I have to pay for whatever. I just wish I knew what to buy and then find out if anybody has the right part or parts.

If it's the computer, I'll plant flowers in it. I hid my sledge hammer:)

    Frankie

    sorry i did miss that.

  14. Rick,

Can you give me a list of all sensors on the R-2, 3 banger? Then I'll call him and see which or all he has available. It seems at this juncture, that one or more of these sensors is defective. I stil have not found the CPU and I pray this big buck part is sound. <_<

    Thx,

    Frankie

Im a trooper person, couldnt tell you how many.I was suggesting you call him to ask what he might think your problem is,not sure if he had much in the way of sensors for sale.

  15. I just purchaced a Trooper last night and I have two major disapointments and wondering if I made a big mistake but hoping there is an easy fix.

First the brakes, I expected 4 wheel disk brakes to be way better than this, I really have to stand hard on them to make anything close to a fast stop. This now worries me on holding on hills when we go trial riding or my wife and kids being able to stop or hold it when they waant to drive . Is there anything I can do to make the brakes do a lot better?

Second the steering - I did not realize until I drove it around last night but the turning radius SUCKS! My F-350 crew cab turns tighter. Steering seems nice and tight with no play in the wheel but the room you need to turn around it terrible. It does seem to turn a little tighter to the right then the left. Im now afraid its going to be a nothing but a hassle to take it trail riding. Is there anything that I can do to make this better?

P.S. I did do a search before posting but did not see anything that really helped me.

    Thanks for any suggestions!

    Welcome Zorro,

What year is the trooper? If used possibly seller did some brake work and not bled them correctly.

I agree with rocmoc as for the brakes and turning.I have the T-4 Trooper and have climbed some pretty steep hills with four people(not the smallest of crowd)in it and had to hold it on the hill with no problems.even coming down comes to a stop.I was worried about the steering also but have not had any real issues on the trail. Wait until you get it on the trail and give it a chance.

  16. Frankie,

Dont know if you have spoke to Casey(was shop foreman at joyner) regarding your problem but if not give him a call.I saw him this past weekend and purchased some parts from him and said he was available to help anytime (480)766 6137

  17. Rick,

Throttle cam is at rest without idle srew even touching it. If I turn srew in, it high revs with just an 1/8th turn.

    Frankie

Exact point i am trying to make.ECU is getting signal from sensor that it is 0 position thus compinsates but giving more throtle.Try to adjust up and let ECU recalibrate to new position of throttle. It may or may not work but your idle screw should not be backed off like that.Again I am by far no expert but this i have been told by reliable source and i am sure other here would agree that there may be some thing wrong just because the screw is backed off like that.Again it may not solve your rev problem but something is not right because that screw is backed off.Read closly again Lennys last post.

  18. Lenny,

I think you are forgetting about apples and oranges ;) I have a Renegade, 3 banger and you have a Trooper, 4 banger. I do not see any ECU behind or under drivers seat. And what does the IAC look like? Could you ask someone else where the ECU is on the R-2? I don't know what thread to use for that question. It would be nice if the manual had pics of the engine that had an ABC of marking out each sensor and other components as to location and what they look like. I don't mind learning, but feel without a mentor I'm grasping at straws by guessing what does what and where it is. Not stupid, just ignorant or uninformed.

Didn't realize I had to be a tech to own and enjoy driving my UTV

    Frankie

Did you try adjusting the idle screw out? you keep mentioning its backed off all the way.As lenny mentioned ECU reads position of sensor,if not reading any it may be compensating.Hope someone else chimes in regarding my thoughts because that is what i was told by tech at joyner.

  19. When it idles, it is about 600 to 750 rpms. The idle screw is backed all the way off. If I turn it in just a touch, it over revs. In other words I can't just get to go from say 750 to 900 or a 1000 rpms. Today I fired it up, and it high revved. Turned it off, and on the next crank, it idled (a first after just two cranks). I went to town. Made a stop. Restarted and ran fine. Made another stop. Started it and it high revved again. After a series of start/ stops, I could not get it to idle at all. So I drove home with motor racing between shifts. I'm looking for a sledgehammer right now.

    Thx for the input.

    Frankie

not sure if this has been mentioned but have you checked the connections on your throttle body for the idle sensor and throttle sensor and vacuum hoses? i am just trying to think of things,im by far not the best person for this as many others on this forum are.good luck and dont take the hammer to it yet.

  20. Thx Lenny, though I don't know what each of the sensors looks like. Been too lazy to study the manual. But I guess it is time. What gets me the most is the intermittent problem. Once I get it to idle, it will start and stop all day long. But after sitting for day or two as I have said, it over revs on start up and scares the ****** out of me. I took out a sensor that had a little bullet point on it. It doesn't move without ignition. I cleaned and lubed it and nothing changed. My throttle cable seems fine and idle screw is all the way relieved. But I don't know about the butterfly?

But I will do that contact stuff with all plugs. Thx again :)

    Chalkstk

When you say"Once I get it to idle" what is your RPM's? Reason I ask is you also say "idle screw is all the way relieved".I was once told these engines with all the sensors the ECU gets alot or most of its info from the position of the throttle sensor.Maybe if its getting a reading of the idle sensor being all the way closed or all the way relieved as you say it is trying to compensate.Just a thought I could be way off.

  21. Does anyone have a cross-reference number for the outside rear cv boot for a 07 c2 commando?

This is what Kinarfi had in the "Parts,Pieces" thread.

CV Boot Kit There appears to be a difference between inner and outer boots, I used a NAPA CVB6862340 for my outer rear, fit good but not tightly on the CV end, I held it on with Tyraps

    , Autozone part # 03606. Comes with bands and grease for $11.99, quick/split boot. http://contentinfo.a.../03606/image/5/ K2181 95 Geo Metro $15.99

Napa 686-2181 CV Boot from a 95 Geo Metro.

  22. Will give more of an updated as time goes but the bottom line is 4 out of 6 of our group came down with Montezuma's Revenge and have been down for days. I was the worst and finally had to go to the clinic for two IVs & meds. Better 3/4s just had to take meds. The Health-care in Mexico is much better than most people in the States know. It is available to everyone at very, very low cost or no cost at all if you can't pay. This includes Tourist. Luckily we all ready knew this and headed over there when I started to lose the battle completely. Our total bill for 2 IVs, 2 shots, 6 meds and doctor visit was 190 pesos, about $15. They will not take more for their service so if you can afford it as a Tourist , you make a donation. We payed 300 Pesos total, less than $24. The Doctor, a young talented lady, was trained in Guadalajara at the school our next door neighbor's son was trained. And He is in charge of Urgent Care at one of the larger hospitals in Tucson. We don't always get the straight facts from our New sources or Government as everyone has an agenda. Enough said, we are healing here and have had very little riding. Headed home early Monday. Only second time being sick in 15 years of traveling in Mexico. "Not Jazzed Anymore!"

    rocmoc,

Really sorry to hear that, main thing is all of you are feeling better.Hope you will be able to get out this weekend and have some fun.Keep us posted especially about your health.

    Good luck,
