  1. Not sure who looks at this site or not, but it has some really good articles. I just came across this one about welding out on the trails without welding gear & thought I would share. This is so easy and it never occurred to me, but no doubt some of you know about it.

The link is http://utvweekly.com/index.php/2009/12/emergency-trail-welding/ and make sure you watch the video.

    Cheers Mike.

I forgot about that.I saw an old truck mechanic do a tempoary fix on a fork lift where I worked when I was about 19.He pulled a large semi truck up next to it and hooked up to the batteries on it.That was the only time I seen it done and I completely forgot about it.

  2. I know who Gman is and can back up what he has said too. I’m not sure who is posting under the name of “the sherriff” but know who the new Sheriff is. A little confusing, but there it is. All I can say is, that we are lucky to have them posting here and this is the best place to keep up-to-date with what’s going on.

    I can confirm five facts.

1/ Joyner in China is still in business.

    2/ Jeff is with JMC.

    3/ Gman is correct.

4/ I know who Gman is but can not say, just yet.

5/ “the sherriff’s” post is factual

Jeff, your website looks really sharp and I mean that. The JMC 800 looks like a real beast as do some of the other UTVs and ATVs. Problem is you have no Joyners on there. I hope you do well with your new line of Side x Sides and who knows, you might even strike up a deal to sell them to some Joyner dealers, along side the Troopers and Renegades.

Joyner will continue into the future as I’m sure you will too, with what you have moved on to.

    Cheers Mike.

    Mike,

Maybe you are correct but from those of us who dont have the insite you seem to have we have to be suppishih of anyone posting messages under fictious names claiming to know it all.How you know who the "Gman" is I dont know but that does not make it credible with all do respect.I do hope things work out well but we heard this before when the "New Sherriff" came riding in to rescue the joyner product earlier this year.We all heard what a big difference there would be and what a great new product would be coming our way by this time, look we we are...Again no disrespect to you but Be carefull how you stick your neck out.

    Cheers to you,

    Rick

  3. I really hope so!! I love my joyner, want to keep it running, possibly buy new one if they make them. Was not doubting anyone just curious who everyone is, & where they get info? & why we can't know anything about the new members? So, hope to hear alot more real soon,, Thanks ,,,,Quig

I'm with you Quig. Not only do we have a Gman telling us this info but we now have the new sherriff. Is he the "New Sherriff in town"?

  4. Well we aren't coming to LH without you guys. We will do only the Yuma loop, LOL!

    Good luck,

    rocmoc

Worse comes to worse I can be there for the weekend.so far no other takers?Be nice to get more.Lots of trails. One ride I have been wanting to go on is from Havasu to Topoc, they have a marina with a nice place to eat but now they closed it and building a 100+ room resort so cant go there till they re-open.

  5. Thought that place was closed.use to see boondockers from the 95 as we drove by but now I see why.Guess they moved the camping back between the hills.I have never been in there but next trip I will check it out.As far as the place south of there that looks good also. All I have to do is get the time off and hope the wife can do the same. Our daughter is expecting her first any now(in fact shes late)so the wife will be taking time off for that, just hope she can get more.

  6. For Yuma, probably Dec 14th to 20th. LH the 10th to the 14th. Closest guess for now.

Anyone have any campground recommendations for Yuma or Lake Havasu?

    rocmoc n AZ

No idea for Yuma.Lake Havasu has many.I used to stay at Crazy Horse on the Island. That time of year their are alot of snowbirds there so it should not be as wild as it gets during the summer months. We would get a site on their North beach, its close to the channel that runs under the London Bridge and they are close to the water. They also dont have(or least they didnt)much in the way of restrictions on golf carts, utvs,or motorcycles going through the campground.

  7. We have talked ourselves out of going to Baja.

    SO,

We are going to make a trip to Yuma, AZ. in Dec to ride. Any interest? Maybe we can get a tour of SilverBullet's Shop/Store, show us his stuff and talk him into taking us on a day of guided tour of the area. If not, we will be there anyway sometime towards the second half of the month. May even make it up to LH to ride with Rick. Rick are up for it? Just starting the brainstorming!

    rocmoc n AZ

Sounds great,Get me some dates and I will see if I can get some time off.

  8. Stephanie said “that their conversations with the Joyner Manufacturer aren't doing real well, but they are still trying and that orders that come from them seem to be what ever they want to send”. Ask yourself, “Why would a manufacture treat their main selling arm like that”? What Stephanie said is something she is told to say, when the reality is the manufactures have had enough and wont supply JMC anymore.

JMC are the bad guys here. Phone any Joyner dealer in the States and they will tell you where JMC went wrong. A couple of things the dealers did not like hearing is, JMC wanted large deposit payments up front for stock to sell and spare parts were going to be well over priced. Do you think the Dealers went along with this outrageous plan? That’s simple to answer, how many 2010 Joyner UTVs have you seen and how about the spare parts? None or bugger all! Joyner has lost a whole year through miss-management, but it cuts deeper than that, the Joyner good name has taken a big hit.

This is where you get your good news Kinarfi, it is going to take a good man & team to get the good name back and that’s just what we are getting and just as importantly, “spare parts”. You wont have to wait long.

Lenny, regarding Casey above, I think it’s a case of doing what he is told to do too. He “was” one of the go to guys and I feel that he would be most upset about how JMC has handled Joyner. I could be wrong, but I don’t think so.

    Cheers Mike.

Is what I am getting from this is that we have/will have a new distributer or company to handle Joyner here in the USA? Also is Casey gone?

  9. hi everyone, after 3 long nights or reading every post and reply in the forum i decided to join to share some ideas and some advise.

sims to be that kinarfi, lenny and rocmoc are the ones that joyner should of have on the r&d department, u guys dont know or should i say know to well how hard is to fing info on this troopers, thats why u guys started the forum, thanks for that.

k ive been reading all the posts, u guys talk bout engine swap, rotation of the motor is never a problem, if it goes the wrong way just turn ur difs upside down and done, im sure lenny can figure out how to machine new drain and levelplugs, plus now u can fill from the top. anyways just being a smart ass.

why dont anyone has done a turbo set up with and stand alone user friendly engine management system? way easyer to set up and if u find the right one u might be able to use all ur sensors. ( www.sdsefi.com )

the lightest engine transmission ive found is an nissan sr20det this is an 2000cc engine making uo to 230hp out the car, u can get the front clip of a 90/93 pulsar gtir thats the car cutted in half u get the front half , all of it, noe thats an all wheel drive trans, ranges from 2000$ to about 3500 depends on the condition, u get everything, imagine going outside and cut ur car in half and put the front on a shipping crate.

k nissan is an very interchangeable company, that motor will fit any transmission that has the bolt patern of an sr20 engine model so in the united states nissan came out with an pulsar nx2000, with an automatic transmission and a sr20de engine, whats missing? the t at the ed of the engine model that stands for turbo, the sr20 engine is extremly popular for engine swap cause the easy of upgrades to make lots of power. anyways food for thoughts trooper with an automatic trans and available 300 horses?? dream come true if u ask me. ill be doing more research and probably will do this swap.

i see u guys have been looking at chery transmissions, dont forget to look at the maximum imput hp/kw/ps on the trans, u guys are running turbos and superchargers so trans might not hold up.

thanks millions for the info on the shocks ad spring rates, sway away .com has a spring rate calculator, for future references,, just put all ur info and get the rates for dual and tripe rate set up, i just ordered a set of 10 inchtravel rear piggyback shocks from eshocs.com and a set of 8 inch for the front. i know u guys will tell me that rears are to long but is all in the way and angle u mount the shock, the shocs are sway away racerunners and they use them in baja trucks so see how they wrk on the trooper. and they have 6 inch ones too

by the way: any word on the steering assist setup u guys are building? need one!!!!!!!

i read that someone was going to try two head gaskets to bring the compression ratio down, i think it was lenny, is there anyone or company that will make u a gasket from scratch just by giving themur old one? in the old country we had gasket makers and they would build them out of copper and the thickness u needed, somethimg else to think about.

any ways is been nice to read all the info and will be used on my trooper, i have 1100 miles of unbelievable absolute abuse on mine and i have no complains other than every bolt and nut has loosen up and rattles like a gypsy wagon, now is time to do a complete tear down and fix all the problems.

thanks again and ill post some pics of the mods and how they were done. thanks a lot for all the info!!!!!

    Alex.

    Alex,

Welcome, thanks for the info. Can you give us some info about you? Where are you at and where do you do most of your riding?

  10. rocmoc the reason they don't list anything is because it's a scam. I have email a few of them and tell them that I will take it they email me back and ask for a address so they can ship it to me .I tell them that I will pick it up give me a phone number and address and then you don't hear no more from them. Email them and I bet you can't get a phone number. That quad crazy is full of them be carefull

I sent a message to the moderator about six months ago about that quad crazy and I thought it was a scam.I was interested in a quad he had listed and after hearing back from him a couple times the location of the quad kept moving.First it was here in Ca then all of a sudden when I said I would come and look at it it was in Ohio or Michagan, one of those places and he was out of the country at the time.

  11. Well I called all the Polaris dealers around and found one in the city of Bellflower at Bellflower Motorsports about a 45 mile round trip and they hit me up for $36 bucks. Will go online and order another so I can replace both.

    Rocmoc,

You are correct, that one fits very good and is much better quality.

  12. Rocmoc,I might end up ordering it but would like to take care of it this weekend if possible.Berts will be one of my calls this morning as well as Mountain Motorsports in Ontario, both places about a 50-60 mile round trip but worth it if they have it in stock.Hope to change both boots on the drive shaft while its out.

Kinarfi, I would rather change it out to a better one since Rocmoc says the Polaris one is better quality.I only have a little over 500 miles on it and dont want to do this again in another 500 or so if I can avoid it.

    will keep you posted.Thanks guys,

  13. Rick, I was always talking about my dirveline boot only in the topic. Lenny was sharing what he found with the axles. I tried what Lenny shared but it didn't work on my driveline. Let us know if you are more successful than I was with the universal boots. I could not find one that had the end sizes that are required on the driveline. The Parts houses let me go in the back and try every one of them. This was at Checkers, a race shop, Auto Zone and another before I gave up and went to a Motorcycle / UTV dealer. Then I finally found what I needed. What you are going to run into is nothing will be as small as the small end of the boot. Only Polaris. Good luck!

    rocmoc n AZ/Baja

Well I stopped by a few part stores on the way home today and guess what..no luck as with the rest of you.I got home and pulled the drive shaft(not as hard as I thought).

Rocmoc, I Tried looking up a polaris dealer to get the boot with the part number you have and the only deale I could find around hear must be closed down. The number listed was disconnected and information had no listing. They used to be a large motorcycle/utv/jet ski dealer,Hahn Motorsports in Anaheim.Anyway will try again tomorrow to find a place.

  14. http://www.utvboard.com/topic/1697-cv-boot-for-driveline/page__p__6766__fromsearch__1#entry6766

Below this post is the story of installation. "I found what looks like an exact fit. Polaris CV Boot Kit # 2203438, (PR-8061)."

It was an exact fit. Of the Highest quality, show NEVER fail.

    rocmoc n AZ/Baja

I saw the posts about it but seemed it went from drive line to axles.I then saw the post about how you changed yours out.I think I will try the universal wrap around, the other seems like more work then I feel up to at this time. Thanks,

  15. The autoparts stores generally carry 2 types of shaft boots thar are designed to be universal in size. In other words you can trim them down to the shaft and Joint housing size you need. One type requires removing the shaft to install but the other, which is designed to wrap around and then snap closed, doesn't require shaft removal. Looks like you can take her out this weekend after all.

    Lenny

I think I will try the easier of the two. Thanks,

  16. Removed the skid plate to change the oil and noticed grease slung all over the plate.I found a crack in the boot on the rear diff end of the drive shaft between the trans and rear diff.Is there a replacement I can get from local auto supply? also does it require the trans to be removed to get the shaft out. Thanks in advance.Bummer,I was hoping to take her out this weekend.

  17. Apologies for not getting back to your questions sooner.

Seems like I had a bit of problem returning from a camping trip. On the way down from the mountains we got caught in a crosswind with our new toy hauler, with trooper inside. In a matter of seconds we found ourselves on our side in a destroyed Nissan Titan. My wife suffered a concussion, multiple contusions, and abrasions. I ended up wit a number of broken ribs and a punctured lung. The fire department used their jaws of life to cut me from the truck.

After 4 days in the hospital from hell in Springerville they released us. It took over 8 hours to collect what was left of all 3 vehicles. Of course the insurance company has already begun trying to screw us.

Naturally the Trooper was thrown through the top if the toy hauler. It is now missing the front end so I suspect it is a total loss.

We are thankful to still be alive but is doesn't help the pain of losing our toys.

    Gumball

Really sorry to hear that. The toys can be replaced.Glad to hear thats all that was lost.Stick in there and hope things work out with the insurance.Hope your feeling better.

  18. Yes I checked fire at the plugs, I took a plug out and u could smell a little fuel on it. I checked all fuses in both boxes. There isn't a Inline fuse somewhere I might have overlooked is there? I could only get the pump and fan on when I put jumpers on the rely. I went to elementry at Edison in Catlettsburg.

I dont know of any inline fuse, could be.I do know there has been problems with the fuses themselves. If you havnt done so pull each fuse and put it back in,I have heard of some people that have had to do that because of the cheap fuses and bad connections..Was it running when you bought it or did the bank tell you the ecu was to cause of it not starting? There are many more members here that will give you more and Im sure better advise then me so dont give up.

  19. Hello everybody, Im new the forum actually it's my 1st post. I just recently purchased a used 08 trooper at the local bank. It has 535 miles and its camo. That had it as a repo, everything seems to be in really good shape. There's just 1 problem it won't run. They said it needed a ECU I purchased a ECU still nothing. All the lights work, 4 wheeldrive works, horn works, and everything else up front. The engine will crank but wont start no fuel or spark, fuel pump won't even run and the fan will not come on. Crossed over the relays to turn fans on fuel pump and get spark. Still nothing, I would really appreciate any good advise on which direction to go next.

    Thanks Seth

I assume since you say your getting spark you confirmed that at the plugs,If so have you confirmed your getting fuel to the fuel rail? possible the pump now works but maybe no fuel going through the regulator. Also check fuses and key switch since both fan and fuel pump should come on when key is turned to on position.I know we have at least one other member in Ky,I went to elementry school in Florence Ky and Ryland Heights Ky.Way to many years ago.

  20. That's funny Rick but I have a long way to go before it floats.

I sent the pics to Kinarfi. Believe he is away with Lenny so will have to wait until he gets time. These are the final pics for a while until I get time to do the doors. The spare tire & ice chest sit flat on the engine cover. Surprisingly the engine noise changed to a more mellow sound coming thu the expanded metal, much more pleasant. That's it for a while, other projects & a trip take priority, LOL! Hauled my first load on the engine cover, a 18" pizza.

    rocmoc n AZ/Baja

with the expanded metel it should have helped keep the pizza warm. Now if you could only fiqure a way to help keep the beer cool.I finallly got back out working on mine this weekend after getting the stitches out of my hand.Finished the mod on the brush guard and relocated the headlights and turnsignal lights under the fender. Also started on installing the new windsheild(aluminum frame and real auto glass).I too will be working on doors, hope to pick up a tubing bender this week.

  21. Finished the engine compartment cover today & installed. Will take pics tomorrow. Just a simple flat cover that the spare tire & ice chest sit on. Made of light weight hollow square tubing around the perimeter and a couple of cross braces. Covered with light weight 3/4" expanded metal. I welded EVERY piece of expanded metal that touched the support frame, around 150 welds. Did not want any rattles. Made so the tire mount can be moved around depending on the size of the tire. Saved over 125 lbs vs the old safari cover.

    rocmoc n AZ/Baja

Looking forward to the pics. You remove anymore weight and your gonna be hovering over the trails.(LOL)

  22. Best back up battery is the Buddy System. That is why I don't like to go out that often by myself. Sometime you just can't help it so we have a lot of miles alone. I do agree, have a great battery. Good in this case is not enough!

    rocmoc n AZ/Baja

Also the reason why I take the wife along, she is strong and can push for quite a distance(LOL)

    Edit - Kinarfi -- Me Too. :lol::lol:
