  1. Do you need to add a windshield ? I have considered getting at plates . i know that auto tags have gone up in Ca so i wonder if offroad stuff will. if it does then i may just plate it in az. How much are plated in az ?

Anyone have any updates on getting plats in California?

  2. Took my Trooper out for the 2nd time this weekend. All was well for a short time and all of a sudden while cruising along on level ground it just started lossing power. The more I pressed on the gas the worse it got and just about came to a stop.If I down shifted and wound it pretty high in gear she flew wih no problem but if i shifted to the next gear it would just slow down and again almost stop.I checked the air cleaner and fuel filter as well as the fuel pressure and all was okay.Anyone have any other suggestions?

    Thanks,

  3. The muffler is added to the existing stock exhaust system. The stock system was to loud. Notice on the end of the muffler is a spark arrester, want no problems with Forest Service. Performance did not change, better or worse - it is the same.

How would I go about getting one? Thanks,

  4. Posted 8 pics in my gallery. Not much action as we were already on top of the hill in the last pics. Rocky Point while fun wasn't that challenging. Will not take the toys back to Rocky Point, better riding at home.

    Home without any problems!

I noticed your muffler, what advantages with it over the stock? Thanks,

  5. I am looking at purchasing a GPS unit and just wanted to know what has worked best for you.I need one that is good for the road but also one for the trails.Any advise would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

  6. Hi guys; I just thought it would be kind of a fun topic to discuss what our plans for this year are for our Troopers. I have been taking welding classes at my local community college and want to get some real use out of the skills I learn.

Mine "Trooper" goals for this year are:

    1. To replace the front shocks with better ones.

    2. To reinforce the roll cage in order to protect me and my wife if we should turn over.

    3. To add a grab bar on the passenger side

    4. To build a front bumper/skid plate

    5. To aquire a good crossover GPS so I don't get lost

Did you add the grab bar? Heres mine, made it adjustable and it works great.

  7. How are the trails around LH? You will be less than an hour from Quartzsite.

I will have to let you know after this weekend.I have been going there for over 35 years boating and never been off road.I have heard they have some nice trails through the local mountains and desert. One trail is supposed to go all the way up to I-40 through the mountains.

  8. Boy have I missed the Beast. Ride went perfect in fact it is quieter than before. Had to put the rear locker on in one section and lockers & 4wd in a water crossing. Everything is go so I loaded the Toyhauler. Can't believe I got everything in, Trooper, dirt bike (Honda), two mountain bikes, TV satellite base & post, two spares for the trailer, a unmounted spare for the truck and three containers of tools. I will only put in a few gallons of water to offset some of the weight in the garage. Ya, finally going to play again! Still a standing invitation to meet us in Quartzsite, AZ or Rocky Point, MX. Laptop will be up the entire time in case you need directions.

Hope you have a great and safe time.I will be up the road from you in Lake Havasu for the weekend. We have a home there and plan on getting out for the first time in our Trooper.

  9. I'm thinking fuel pump I have a new one and will be changing it out I will let you guys know what I find.

    Kevin

Is yours doing the same thing? Is that why you are changing out the pump?

Thanks, please let us know if the new pump is the problem.

  10. My opinion is yes, I have a lever to hold the throttle, because of my leg disabilities, and it doesn't hold a constant RPM either, never worried about enough to figure out why, yet. I am building a cruise control for mine so I can set it at 2500 or so and let the controller hold the throttle relatively constant went going up a rough hill, usually I end up full throttle because I can work my feet very well. The problem with the lever is that as I go uphill, I need more, and as I go down hill I need less.

    kinarfi.

it just seems it should be holding a consistant rpm.I thought at first it might be fuel regulater not set correctly but it is at 55psi.

  11. I was wondering if it is normal for the RPM to go up and down while keeping constant pressure on the accelerator.I noticed today while sitting in neutral i reved it up to 1500 and tried to keep it there. It would go up to about 1700 and drop to 1200 and back up and down, would never stay consistant.I went up to 2500 and then it would jump to 2900 then drop to 2200 and back up to 2900 and down again.I made sure I was not doing it with the pressure from my foot.I was wondering if this was normal.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. I have an 09 T4 and was thinking of doing what you have done with the filter. My question is what did you do with the breather hose that goes from the valve cover to the current air filter box?

    Thanks,

Here is what I ended up doing.Cost more than expected$125.00.

  13. I have an 09 T4 and was thinking of doing what you have done with the filter. My question is what did you do with the breather hose that goes from the valve cover to the current air filter box?

    Thanks,

I had some Shop Vac hose and tubes laying around and decided to try something and look what I did. I'm not too sure if I'm finished with it yet, but what I have will do the trick, if you want the filter above the bar, you'll need to use more of the hose or add another tube and maybe another support. My support is bungy cord, seen best in photo 20081020_7. I started the engine and revved it up a few times, but couldn't hear anything from the filter. I like it!!

I would recommend the VT2507 7' Hose and the VT2508 Extension Wand, stick the pliable end of the hose into the wand, mount filter on other end of the wand and cut the hose to length, it's easy to cut twice to get the length you need and very hard to uncut.
