Hi everyone - Since Hisun makes Cub Cadet Challengers i am posting this here too as well as the cub cadet forum in hopes of reaching someone who can help me.

I was driving my 2017 Cub Cadet Challenger 750 EPS today on the ranch when it dies on me. It started right up - and then as i was driving after about 50 feet the engine just turned off. It was running perfect before it cut out on me. No alarms, no weird sounds or smells. It just turned off.  When I turn the ignition key, the starter cranks away and the battery and starter turns fast and strong - but the engine doesn't start. I've confirmed gas flow to the carb - that the fuel filters are clean and clear. I've replaced the spark plug with a brand new one. I checked every fuse with a meter. I have confirmed air filters and airflow are good.  But the darn thing cranks away without the engine even making a sputter or even attempting to fire. Is there a kill switch somewhere that could have been tripped? I checked the seatbelt sensor, the brake sensor, and parking gear sensor - all are working and i'm in Park, pressing down on the brake, and have the seatbelt latched when i try to start. but - nada! It acts like it isn't getting a spark. but like i said i put in a new spark plug. I have a feeling there is a sensor or an electrical kill switch somewhere that tripped.  open to any ideas.

thanks all,

Pierce

Turns out the timing chain came off due to worn camshaft and sprockets. Need to replace $700 in parts.

Never missed an oil change and always used good synthetic oil. The metal inside these engines seems to be very cheap metal.

Pretty disappointing since it only has 180 hours on it and less than 500 miles.

180 hours and the  cam is wore out?????? Dang!

They should give you the parts! Cams should do at least 1300 hours in a single cylinder small engine.

If it's a chinese engine, they probably made them out of pot metal.

I would look for a  heavy duty diesel engine oil, like Rotella or Delo.

They have what these smaller engines need, especially cams.

Wow, now I'm glad I traded mine out at 1800 miles and 120 hours.   I was wondering if I made the right decision. Mine never gave me a bit of problems other than the exhaust.    Sorry to hear your problems.

Don’t use any engine oil besides the recommended cub utv/atv engine oil, it’s a cub cadet product with special synthetics. The tensioner operates with a spring, remove the tensioner, there’s a cap screw on top, once cap screw is removed you can use a small flathead to test spring rebound. The tensioner should measure out to 58 nm fully extended. These should be checked regularly. Not the greatest thing to have to do but I hope it helps.

I have an 850. It’s been overheating. The electric fan is not kicking on. I see the temperature switch going into the radiator, but there’s no wire plugging in to it or none to be found in the area. i’m thinking I might’ve hooked on a branch and it ripped out the harness on that part. Does anybody have a picture or no where that plugs into on the harness? On the top of the firewall, I did notice some plugs that have nothing plugged into it. I was wondering if it’s a harness that goes from there down to the radiator that was pulled off

Hi, I purchased a used Cub Cadet 750 Challenger that seemed like the belt was slipping so I put a new belt in.  It still acts like the belt is slipping but now I am thinking it is the clutch?
What is the best way to remedy this problem?
      Can the clutch be rebuilt?
      Are there aftermarket clutches available?

I have a 2021 Axis(Hisun) 700 from Lowes. Will not start. Checked starter, solenoid, spark plug and fuel pump. Everything seems to be fine. The motor turns over and will try to start but just will not. Battery is also good. Frustrated!

"Mrs. Smith" doesn't like how loud our Sector 750 is.  On a HISUN forum someone said the same thing about his 750.  I haven't given it much thought because I've been more focused on stuff that has broken.
So, I used my decibel meter to check ours out.  4000 RPM, Low gear, under 20 MPH . . . . 97 decibels.  That's above most ordinances, even state boat noise limits.
AI Overview Ninety-seven (97) decibels is considered very loud and dangerous to hearing with prolonged exposure, roughly equivalent to a newspaper press, a loud nightclub, or a snowmobile. At this level, damage can occur after just 30 minutes, necessitating hearing protection

2022 Coleman 400 with 13 hours on the engine and the mice got to it. Every wire coming out of the steering column in one cluster has been eaten through. I tried reconnecting matching wire colors to each other and I get the left turn signal and hazards to work, nothing else. If I play around a bit I can get the horn to honk or headlights to come on but only when I connect them to the brown wire. Obviously I don't know what I am doing here. Does anyone have a picture of how these wires are connected when they are under the hood on the drivers side coming from the steering column?
Gray - seems to carry power
      Brown - left turn signal
Green with purple stripe - hazards?
Pink with red stripe - horn?
      Green - head lights?
      Yellow - head lights?
      Yellow with red stripe?
      Blue?
      Dark green?
There is also a bundle hanging under the hood not connected to anything green with yellow strip, brown and blue?
Other than that issue, I am about ready to sell this for parts if you interested let me know.
      Thanks
