Hello all,

While "surfing" at Amazon I stumbled across this Wireless Winch Remote Control for $17.

WinchRemote-00.jpg

It comes with absolutely NO documentation, but fortunately I was able to garner what I needed from scouring the web and examining the wired pendant controller that came with the "Thing" (what SWMBO calls my Outfitter 400).

Once installed I found it performed just as claimed and in fact better--my testing found the remotes to have  a solid 120 + ft range--though I cannot for the life of me envision a situation where I'd want to run the winch from 100 feet away?  The control module is fully potted and waterproof, the remotes are well made and as sturdy as they need to be,  HIGHLY recommended!

If anyone is interested I can post photos and a wiring diagram...

I am interested. I accidentally broke my winch joy stick thing and i taped it up and it worked for several months but now it is completely defunct and i don't have the knowhow to splice the wires any better. This is for the same utv you have.

I don't think cliffyk posts here anymore due to gthing rid of his HS400 after some medical issues.

I don't see that particular remote available, but looking on amazon there are tons of other similar ones available in the $20 range.

Hooking it up you will need to be able to splice some wires or crimp some terminals.

The winch control relay is under the front hood towards the top middle. It's a little square box with wires going onto the terminals.

The remote winch controller needs power and a ground, as well as a connection for in and out. you should be able to disconnect the wires in the back of the socket under the dash and connect there.

See diagram below. You will need to connect the ground wire on the new controller to a solid chassis ground.369436202_Screenshot_20220818-102750_SamsungNotes.jpg.104ac186f144954030fdf2d808a6ce7f.jpg

I believe the HF ones come with a plug that matches their winches so yo would have to disassemble it and figure out which wire was which to make it work. There are a dozen plus sub $20 choices on amazon that come bare wire that would be easier. No disassembly, and the wires come labeled as to function.

If you grab a set of crimp "bullet connectors" and a crimping tool you can install it and still be able to switch back to the factory setup by reconnecting the old wires for the plug in a couple minutes.

Great post. Can anyone share which color wire goes to which number connection 1 - 2 - 3 ?

with 3 prongs and 3 wires if my old math lessons from 30 years ago in high school still serve me right that’s 3 squared so 9 possible combinations to really screw up the wiring. Haha. Well, one will be right so I guess 8 to screw jt up so anyone save me the sparks flying? Thank you

They should match the "genders" in the diagram. You can test to confirm you get 12v+ on the correct one.

Connecting it to one of the others will either reel in or out, and the 3rd will do the opposite.

If you do confirm the colors feel free to post here and help the next guy out.

I bought this SxS brand new.  A couple of years after I bought it, I became disabled.  Thus it has only 47 miles and around 16 hours of use.  I have no need to keep the SxS.  I am in Foley, Alabama.  It is very hard for me to get in out of the Challenger.  I would like to sell the set, 2019 Challenger 400, trailer and uninstalled winch (this was bought brand new as well, someone was supposed to help this newbie install and we never got around to doing this). I want  $6500 for the whole set OBO (Serious offers only).

Does anyone know where the winch fuse is located on a 2021 ut400? I’ve been working on the solenoid because the winch will only go in one direction..
Either in or out depending if I reverse the leads on the solenoid. Now I have no power to the solenoid and it appears I blew a fuse. Winch is supposed to have a 30 amp fuse.

i checked all the fuses in the fuse box near the battery and the 30amp fuse hanging in the compartment. Everything is good there.
but I can’t locate any other fuses. Any help would be appreciated.

Just bought a brand new 2022 (NOS) Sector E1 with Lithium upgrade. (Single 135ah/200amp continuous). I've climbed a moderate hill in my woods probably 20 times since buying it. Today It won't climb it unless I am in Low. In High it almost makes it and then completely dies and I have to roll back down the hill. In Mid range (Max Range) I can't get 2 feet up the hill and the power output in only 100 amps, I have climbed this hill in every speed before many times. I put it on the trailer tonight and it wouldn't even get on the dang trailer in mid range. Torque is gone. That being said, when I am just cruising around in Midrange, it runs absolutely perfect with plenty of power. The only thing I did was charge it up, that is all. I charged to 100% using the charger that came with the battery. Before you think the BMS is shutting down due to overcharge protection, remember I am going UP hill so there is no regeneration AND I have done it before at 100% charge AND another big problem is that after 1 mile it is already down to 85% so it's not over charging and why is the battery draining so fast when I got 27 miles before. Battery output is fine in Low it pulls 200 amp up the hill just like normal so that doesn't point to the battery being the issue. All the individual cells on the battery are in line, so there is no dead cell either. I am tech savvy but to toward electric motors and I tried to cover all my bases. Please don't tell me basics like torque is reduced in High and Mid. The only thing I can think of is that I smelled something when I took my first drive today and I thought it was the Ebrake dragging but there was the correct amount of play in the cable and I jacked up the rear wheels and they spin freely. maybe something burned out in the motor, I do not knowm still runs great, we'll see if I have any trouble on the hills at the lake house this weekend. Maybe this is "Normal" and the settings were off before and was giving equal torque for whatever reason instead of 50% in Mid and 70% in High like the manual says....
For reference....this is it not even able to get on the trailer in mid range

Hey there, anyone have any advice on removal of the original winch? Upgrading to one that actually works.
      Thanks

The steering shaft is slipping,I checked it's tight as the bolt will take at the u-joint.. Is there a slot or something it may have jumped? This is right after the shaft enters the area under the hood.Thanks.
