Just moved up from A to UTV

After owning a Polaris Sportsman forever, I bought a golf cart to use as well.   That went well for a couple years but I recently decided to sell both and move up to a UTV.  After looking at and missing out on a few used units, I decided to buy new and went with my avatar.  Since finding this forum I've read a few horror stories about the older Massimo models and am aware of the "fixes" for those.  Currently still in the break-in mode and adding accessories along the way.  May do a few trail rides here and there, but it's mostly a hunting vehicle, so it's main use will be to haul stands in and deer out!

Speaking of the older Massimo's.  I purchased a MSU 700 from Tractor Supply in April of 2016.  I currently have over 3300 miles on it and have been happy with it for the most part.  I was bad to overheat when I first got it and the cooling fan would not come at times.  So I simply bypassed the sensor/switch and added a manual switch for the cooling fan.  I pretty much run the fan all the times.  I've replaced the suspension bushings and a few wheel bearing.   We used it around the farm, trail ride here on the farm and have taken it to the Hatfield-McCoy trails in WV several times.   My wife wishes it had power steering.  Replaced the cheap windshield that came with it.  The original had the fold right in your line of sight, poor design!  Installed bucket seats that I had from a Mazda Miata.  I replaced the clutch and belt (the belt was fine but I replaced it while I was in there) at around 3000 miles, I wasn't using a MA or MA2 approved engine oil.

For the most part it has been a good machine and we have been happy with it.  The only time I wish I had a different machine is when we ride the trails in WV and our friends have Polaris RZR's and Cam Am's.  We can go anywhere they go but not as fast up extremely long hills.

welcome ... Hope you are having fun with the new rig..... but as a fellow Massimo survivor, I implore you to watch engine temp.. They are notorious for overheating problems..and it only takes once or twice to cook headgaskets.... and Massimo wont warrenty it. { I speak from experience}  Most of us have bypassed fan thermo switch and run continuous fan or install adjustable fan controllers in warm/hot  weather ..

Took it for it's first extended run this past Sunday, about 4 hours of trails.  Mud holes, steep inclines and quite a bit of climbing over small boulders.  Never got above three bars on the temp gauge and the fan was kicking in at times.  What level would be considered getting hot, 4 bars?

yeah, just keep a close eye on it, and do not run it hot for even a minute or the cheap head gasket will leak immediately.  If you check complaint/review  sites  like BBB or  PISSED CONSUMER.COM about Massimo , the number one problem is overheating and Masimos refusal to pay any warrenty claims and shops refusal to work on them because of it .. Hopefully you will not find out first hand.. Good Luck and enjoy the machine , they are fun when they run ...

Hey guys! Newbie here. I'm an old man who's better with plowing a mule (4-legged kind) than these newfangled beasts. I, and a friend of mine, just bought new Coleman sxs and are having to finish the assembly. I've been reading on this site and I'm falling on the mercy of you experts. The only way I'm an expert is that an "ex" is a has been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure. LOL First off, the 2 buggies have no ignition switches. They seem to mount on the dash, not the opening in the steering wheel shaft cover, so we ordered new ones that are supposed to fit. They are 8 inches long, and have a 4-wired white plugin which is slightly rectangled when looking at the end of the plug. The trouble is there's nothing to plug into. There is a three-wire grey plug close enough to reach the four-wire plug, but of course, they are not compatible.
Secondly, the blinker, light, ect. unit on steering wheel just spins around when touched. I see no way in heaven or earth to secure it. I've looked at a diagram on the Powersports site, but can't detect how it mounted. Fellows I'd be so grateful for any help with this. Me and my mule will even plow your garden for free, for your help. LOL

I have a Bennche 700 EFI Bighorn. I’ve recently been unable to get it to start. After a little troubleshooting I realized my fuel pump was not pumping fuel. This weekend I emptied the gas and replaced it with new. I replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel injector. I also replaced the battery, spark plug and made sure all my fuses and relays were good. I have confirmed that the float on the fuel pump is not obstructed. The UTV is about 12 years old and has less than 100 hours on it. It has not run in over a year.  Not sure whats going on?!? After doing a little reading I'm leaning towards it being an issue with the ECU or perhaps a faulty wire in the wiring harness. Anyone have any ideas on where to start looking or what I could be dealing with? Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

My 2018 Hisun sector crew engine cut off after about 15 minutes run. There is no indicator of what is wrong, no error code just die and won't restart until it cool down. I notice that the fan is not running but the temp indicator is on low temp, no overheat indicator. I checked the radiator fluid, it is cool to touch.
Cooling fans are working, I can hear it running once awhile if I can get the engine warm up enough.  Thank you for all the help.

I purchased a new 2023 Landmaster UTV L4 in October of 2023.  UTV didn't seem to have as much power of the demo L4 that I drove but figured once it broke in it would be better.  After about a week the unit started bogging down backfiring and stopping.  Gas fumes really bad, wait a few minutes and it would start up again.  Brought it back to the dealer and after keeping it for a few weeks said he couldn't find anything wrong with it.  Got it back home and it started acting up again, brought it back to dealer a week later and he said he found couple things that might cause it to do run bad and he was able to replicate the issue but didn't really know what was wrong.  Got it back home again after being at dealer for several weeks and the unit started running bad again right away.  Brought it back to dealer and he went back and forth with Kohler about possible fixes but just checked somethings and try to swap a few parts but still runs bad.  I called Landmaster HQ to speak with someone about a refund and was told that was handled at the dealer level.  Dealer called Landmaster and they told him they didn't do refunds or exchanges especially with units that had problems.  The dealer is now trying to get a new engine to but I have not heard anything as of yet.  I did file complaint with Better Business Bureau and they accepted my claim and reached out to Landmaster.  The National Service Manager called me and said the he had been contacted by the BBB about the complaint and he would look into it.  I told him that I would just like to have my down payment of $2,000.00 returned and never mind the over $1,000.00 I have paid in notes for a UTV that I cannot even ride on without hoping it gets me around the neighborhood.  I have found out that the 2024 Landmaster UTVs will have Vanguard engines due to issues with the Kohler engines.  Very disappointed in what is "Proudly Made in the USA" and the way Landmaster has treated this disabled veteran!

      Hello,
I found an 08 Renegade for sale and looking to purchase it.  I haven’t heard too much about these machines and any insight would be much appreciated.  Are they good machines?
