  1. Something to consider if you move the radiator is the larger size of the heater hose. Mine had an inch inner diameter hose on the machine. Hard to find locally. I actually got mine from a caterpillar dealer. I can get you a part number for that if you need it also.

Post all you can if possible, including photos. Thanks,

  2. Rocmoc Winery already had 4 grape vines that are 5 years old. BUT they are eating grapes, two Thompson Seedless & two Red Flame Seedless. The two new ones, one Thompson & one Red Flame, were planted in a different location with less sun in hopes of larger grapes. More like Rocmoc Farmer's Market, LOL! Thanks for asking Rick, just knew you would be interested!

    ps Chickens are doing great.

Old McRocmoc had a farm, (LOL)

  3. We took the '70 Jeep out for it's FIRST off-road drive. It did well! In addition, and by luck, we planted two more fruit trees & two more grape vines. Then took stock of how many trees we have CUT down on the property in the 10 years we have lived here, SEVEN! But we counted how many we have planted over that same period of time, THIRTY TWO! So have to say, we enjoyed old Mother Earth.

Yea but how many grapes have you picked for the "Rocmoc Winery" ?

  4. Any of you heard of this?

I've had rough throttle issues for a while, so I worked it out to a plugged carbon canister. Stomping on the gas, especially after filling up usually resulted in a coughing and spitting engine. Unhooked to vent hose from the canister coming up from the gas tank and problem is solved.

After two days of no problems, I have this and it has me stumped big time.

Driving home at 100 kms/hour, I filled up. It starts raining. When I hit 3500 rpm in 5th gear, the engine misfires repeatedly. If I let go of the throttle to below 3500, its fine. Does this consistently. It acts as if there's a rev limiter.

So I played around. dropped it into fourth, and I could do 4500 rpm, but then misfires. It seemed that if I hit 60 kms/h, it misfires.

I should ad that before this issue started I heard a loud click.

    Any idea?

I can't even begin to wrap my head around this one...

I had a simular problem shortly after i bought mine. Would do fine for a while then in 4th or 5th gear would start missing real bad. I would down shift and she would do just fine. shift up to next gear and would be okay for a while then end up down shifting. I tried to find my old posts about it but no luck. I changed the filter, fuel lines, pulled the fuel tank out twice and cleaned it, changed spark plugs, wires and cant remember what else but nothing worked. I got a good price on a new ECU so i decided to try that and have had no problems since.

  5. Thank God I live in a state that isn't bankrupt, run by Hollywood liberals, and hasn't stripped me of all my freedoms. I guess people like it there because they voted themselves another tax increase. I feel bad for all the good people in Cali that aren't mezmorized by the glitz and glam still working hard for their money and trying to have some fun in the great recreational areas Cali has to offer.

I can see safety issues if it is not done correctly or professionally. Also, there are size limitations. If you are putting someone in back and their heads stick out that is a problem. Common sense dictates safety most often. Luckily you and I Rick still live in states which let us practice common sense.

My rear cage is 1 3/4" .120 wall DOM. If my Trooper were to roll down a hill the only thing that would be left would be the rear cage. It is like a safety pod for my kids. The Trooper cage is garbage. Eventually I will build a stronger cage. Until then, rolling over is not an option.

    2scoops,

I live in California and it is frustrating. Doesnt seem to matter what we vote for, always seems to go to supreme court and what the voters vote for is overturned. Look whats going before them now.

  6. I think the wildcat 4 is insanely long thanks to the rear trailing arms. I would buy a RZR XP 2 seater and put a rear bench seat in it. It will fit your kid until he or she is 8 years old. Or, if you can wait I think the best 4 seat option will be the Can Am Maverick. It will be shorter than the Wildcat 4 and have more horsepower.

Not sure what state you are in but California has a new law that took effect in January prohibiting the additional rear seat on any utv of 1000cc or less. They figure there were too many injuries involving these utv's where people added the rear seat in the back to make them four seaters. Originally they also had included that all passengers in utv's must be able to touch the floor board with their feet while seated with back against rear of seat but they took that part out. That is going to effect many owners from what i have seen.

  7. LOL! I wonder sometime if anyone is still out there. We are lucky Admin has maintained the site for us. I have tried at different times to generate ANY type of discussion. Glad to see someone respond. Yes there are chicken fourms but IMHO people need to post more than just when they have a problem with there Joyner. If not, afraid one of these days we are going to try and bring up the site and it is going to be GONE! 16 posts in a week and nearly half of them are Kinarfi and me. If we don't use it we are going to lose it!

I understand, i have had very limited time lately and i came on today expecting some talk about a problem with the trooper or some photos of the jamboree i find a topic about chickens(LOL) I had to respond to that... Hope you and your better half are doing well. We were down real close to your neck of the woods last week. We did our annual trip to Tempe for some spring trainning games. Naturally it had to be over 90 while we were there. Wish i knew about your chickens, i would have come by for an Omelet(LOL).

  8. We just got 5 again, Easter Egg Layers (green eggs). We had to sell our chickens two years ago when we decide to travel back East for a couple of winters. We had a greater variety & more but the EE Layers seem to be able to evade the coyotes better and we had too many eggs before. Also the green eggs are suppost to be more healthy for consumption. EEs look like hawks and in some ways act like them being a little edgy and very good hunters. Anyone else have chickens?

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

    Rocmoc,

Isnt there a chicken forum where you can post this???? You are really pressing for topics since you sold your trooper.(LOL) We use to live out in riverside on some acerage and had the chickens,50 turkeys, pig, and a few horses. I miss having the animals but not the work and the smell.

  9. The rides were all great with a little bit of everything. Tight curvey up and down trails, Washes, and we even got a chance to compete in the Parker 400. We were so far ahead that we didn't see anyone else. It was fast just like the Baja race. Wide open, the Trophy Trucks don't have anything on us. If they know what is good for them, they get out of our way. We jockeyed for position with 'j bender' taking the lead for a while, bruhaw also took shot at the front running position but it was bruhaw's friend Tom that forgot to stop to turn around and really got way out front. Weather was great but could have had a bit more rain to further cut the dust which for the most part wasn't too bad. There was a couple of minor mechanicals but they didn't distract from a great time. It's always fun to meet more of the forum members. Great bunch of guys and gals. Couldn't get anyone to volinteer to check out any of the mine shafts. If they jumped in, we promised to drop them a rope but instead we had to throw a large rock down a few. It takes a while for the noise of it bouncing from side to side to stop, a long while. The Desert Bar was a great lunch and watering spot. It is out in the middle of the desert in the middle of nowhere. It's like a big party with about 200 people and great food. it has several levels from up high to down in and even a band. It was the best Jamboree yet. We all enjoyed each other so much that when we stopped, we talked so much that someone would finally have to say that we needed to get in some riding too. I'll be looking forward to the next one. We already decided to have another one in the same general area again. This area seems to be a good central area for a lot of forum members. We had 9 vehicles at one point, all Joyners. The 2 wheel drive Vipers were impressive and went everywhere the rest of us did.

Seeing as the ares has a lot to offer, on my way out, I checked out the area just southwest of Kingman, AZ. Its about 70 miles from where we were riding. I drove in south of Yucca, AZ about 8 miles up to the edge of the mountain range. Stopped and talked to a rancher and the end of the gravel road who welcomed us to camp at his dude rance. Well, its not really a dude ranch nor is it an RV park but he is raising cattle and he is all desert cowboy. Lots and lots of RV parking room but forget hookups, you'll need to be self contained. Said that the trail which starts just a little from his place says four wheel drive only. Looking at the trail map at the rangers office, the trails do a lot of squiggeling around which tells me that they are going thru some complicated terrain. Maybe we can get Don who lives in Lake Havasu or Bruce (spir of the moment) from Quartzite to do a trail report for us. He stopped buy just as we were leaving, Didn't know about the Jamboree otherwise he would have been with us too.

sounds like a great time. really sorry i missed it.

  10. I had recently found that I had a setting in my Megasquirt controller set wrong. It was a setting that controls how fuel is added when it is warming up but the way I had it set made a big change in how the handled the regular running fuel. When set correctly it should always be at 100 or better. I had it set at 6. I started over from scratch and loaded the newest controller firmware and retuned. Lickly I was able to use the same Air/Fuel ratio tables so I didn't have to give up the dyno work that gave me 121 hp. And that was with things set wrong. After the change, I gained a noticable increase in low end torque and power plus I was able it to run much better at low rpms.

Going to be riding on BLM land requires a spark arrestor so I stopped in Las Vegas on my way down to Parker and picked up one. Its a nice stainless steel muffler about 10" long with spark arrestor and made for better preformance. I removed my Harley davidson muffler and replaced it with the new one. Wow what an increase in low end power it added to the increase above. As result I decided to eliminate the Cat Converter and run just the muffler for less back pressure yet. I made a new flange with stub pipe to bolt on where the Cat Converter was and mounted the new muffler to it. It's a straight shot out now. Haven't tuned it yet so don't know how much it will help. Changing the muffler changes the controller table requirments. Will start tuning tomorrow, excited about it.

To get to the more power point this thread referred to, I found something wrong I never looked at before. The flange, that is welded to the end of the exhaust header pipes, has a hole through it that is about 1/4" smallert then the tubing ID it is welded to. This has produced a large step that the exhaust gases has to jump up over. This is causing a serious amount of restriction to the escaping exhaust gases. The step causes heavy turbulance that really necks down the exhaust effective pipe size. I have corrected mine and feel that those that make this correction will see a noticable increase in power at all rpms. Gosh, on the stock unit, the exhaust has to hit up against severe mis-alignment of the ports (big steps here too) going from the head to the header pipe and then has to hit up against another wall when leaving the header pipe. This isn't saying anything about the badly mis-aligned intake ports. There is a lot more power in that engine just from porting it correctly from intake out through the exhaust.

    Lenny,

Thanks for the info. Can you give us the info on the spark arrestor? where to purchase, cost and is it available online?

    Thank you,

  11. Maps and coordinates please

Would you mind checking whether or not Licence Troopers can drive on the roads so we (I) don't have to trailer the Trooper from camp.

I know up in Havasu they dont press it as long as you abide by the law. If its licensed off road you can go on roads to reach trail heads. Naturally if its street licensed no problem.

    campground 34°15'27.93"N 114° 8'42.86"W

    Trail head 34°15'19.97"N 114° 8'52.45"W

    Desert Bar 34°12'5.22"N 114° 8'55.11"W

  12. Lenny,

I got a message from Bruce this morning about the campground. he said it was about a 3 mile drive to the trail head by road. If the trail head is is refering to is the same one i am thinking it is there is a campground directly across the street from it. I am waiting to hear back from him now.

P.S. I tried to send you a PM but it would not accept.

  13. Next big project will to tear out my dash and put in an aluminum one with different gages and all switches in nice clean rows. I will model it on the computer first until I like how it looks and go from there. It will be designed to hinge so it can be opened up from inside the cab. Its awfull to get at and see everything clearly from under the hood. I will probably add some gages too like oil temp, exhaust temp, air tank pressure. I will also probably put in a row or two of LED lights with each one hooked to the fused side of each fuse so if one goes, I will see it right away and anything else I can moniter. Wife wants some doored cubbys to put things in. Maybe a heart moniter for my wife for when I hot rod it like we were doing at the last Jamboree.

    Lenny

PS; almost rolled it the other day. Wife said " DON'T YOU KNOW YOUR FRONT LEFT WHEEL IS ABOUT 4 FEET OFF THE GROUND? "

You should have told her not to worry unless the left rear wheel also was 4 feet off the ground.........
