  1. Just found the site and really enjoyed what I've seen so far. I have a 2008 R2 Renegade and I love it. I hope to get to know and maybe meet up with some of you sometime and do some riding if your ever in the Southwest VA area.

    Welcome Waygriz,

Glad you found your way here.If your ever out towards the West coast be glad to do some riding with you.

  2. TIPS,,,If your coming to the jamboree..

    1) Once at the campground its about 20 miles to the nearest gas station. If your coming from the south, best to stop in Brawley for fuel and any groceries. The small store at the campground does not have much in the way of food.If coming from the north best to stop in Indio for the fuel and food. From what i am told there is a SMALL market about 5-6 miles from the campground in Bombay Beach but again they are not known to have much. The campgrounds restaurant is open Friday,Saturday and Sunday morning.Saturday and Sunday morning they serve free pancake breakfast.

    2) If interested they do have a pool and hot mineral tubs so bring your trunks.Rocmoc already said he will not be wearing any, maybe that was while on his dirt bike.

    3) Best to bring a dust mask and an extra air filter for your buggy or at least clean daily, there is a fine dust.

If anyone has any questions feel free to ask and i will do my best to get the answer for you.Have a safe drive.

  3. OK with me. Remember, Lenny & myself are arriving Thursday. Two per site is better than 4 to me!!!!!! I have to have 50 amp!!!

Weather forecast is looking good. Touch warm during the day, cool at night and no wind / just a breeze. LOOKING GOOD!

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

    rocmoc,

Sorry but you had it wrong, there would only be two on the original site and on the new site there is only one per site.Yes there is the 50amp.The sites are plenty long and as mentioned can pul in from either direction because each site has two hook ups(one on each side so it doesnt matter which way you face.I think all would like it better.I thought you were coming on wednesday?

  4. I got a call from the KOA campground we will be staying at and they would like to know if we would be interested in what they call an upgrade area. Its an area they call snob hill.We would each have our own long site instead of two on each and be able to pull in in opposite directions because each site has hook ups on each side of the site. They would charge us the same as the patio sites. These are closer to the road to most of the trails and closer to the pool and office/restaurant but yet still kind of isolated. The only drawback if you want to call it that is that area goes up a slight hill(why they call it snob hill) and each site as you go up is about 1 1/2 ft higher then the next. The sites themselves are level.Let me know what you think so i can get back to them.

    Thanks,

  5. I think I have gathered from reading your posts that you modified your manifold (welded tabs on it) to be able to flip it. But I thought others may have flipped it without doing the mod. Is the mod a must to get a good seal between runners and manifold when you flip it?

On another note, I tried to find some Prussian Blue at the auto parts stores so I could do the matching and they all looked at me like I asked for a time traveling space rock........

Permatex makes it,maybe one of the independant auto stores would have it. Grainger has it #3DPP9.

  6. These are my friends and I WILL stay in contact. I will be at the Jamboree even if it is on my dirtbike. Can't even consider what I am doing until cash is in hand. Righ now I am still planning to be there with the Trooper.

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

    Glad to hear it.

  7. We met because we all have Joyner products but we have continued to stay in contact because we have become friends. Friends don't get changed because you buy a chevy rather then as ford. There is a good bunch of UTVers here and I hope to be part of the family for a long time to come. Hopefully you guys won't boot me.

    Lenny

uh ohhh... do we see a chevy coming to your garage???? wouldnt want to boot no body.just would like to see all continue to visit here and at jamborees no matter whats in the garage.

  8. I have a sale pending for the Troopers. Will take place this Sat around noon. I will still be at the Jamboree even if I am only on my dirtbike but sale does not take place until cash is in hand.

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

I know thats what you wanted to do but sorry to hear it.Hope you do make it to the jamboree and still stay in touch.

  9. Nope the first fifty Troopers had the solid metal welded. I have one of the first Troopers and they made the change after to try and save wieght and ease of construction. lowgear, you must have an early '08. Is that true? Is your gas tank in the front because again only in the first fifty. Only other option, my dealer was going to let me trade my lid off my '08 for the newer lid. I declined. I have had my Trooper since '08.

    rocmoc n AZ./Mexico

Was it welded on the bottom side?

  10. Thanks Rick but I will be coming from Eloy, NV on the backroads of Nevada. Coming from the WEST. There is always somewhere! Lenny has a fish pond!

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Is that Ely? Why not like in that chevy chase movie, the criswolds christmas i think. His brother in-law parked in the drive and in the middle of night dumping out in the gutter in front of his house..eeeeewwww...

  11. Called the park this morning. The Camping fee for using the campground includes the fee to enter the developed part of the park. There is NO FEE for using the rest of the park. So; if camped at the dry lake/ dry camping, NO FEES. But if you want to use the showeres or dump site, there will be a fee. I looked at GoogleEarth and the Dry Camping is at one end of the park and the Campground is in the middle.

Lenny & Kinarfi, if you BOTH decide to dry camp I will also. I will cancel my reservation and eat the $13 or save $43. Either way is a win as we will be THERE!!!!!!! Just let me know.

BUT I will have to find a place to dump my tanks as I will have been on the road for a few day by the time I reach Lenny's.

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Not sure which way you would be coming from but if heading north on the 15 through Mesquite Nv there is/was a rv park on the main drag we stoped at some years back and for a fee we dumped.Sorry but cant remember the name.Thats not too far from lenny.

  12. Your deck lid is differient than mine the plate is welded on the bottom of my frame where as yours looks to be on the top side. Yours looks like aluminum too or it's just shinny.

Not sure about kinarfis but mine is a plastic and bolted to the top of the frame,I think that was the way they all originally came. So if yours is welded to the bottom is the cross bracing exposed on the top of it when lid is closed?

  13. Thankx Ricksrb, Your right, being retired is nice. I learned something about retirement. When I was younger and still trying to come up with enough money to retire, the money I thought I needed was way too much. Ultimately I ended up with a lot less money then I once had but it doesn't matter. I'm by no means rich but I do have enough to get along on ok. I've always lived not needing much. As long as I have my shop and a toy or two I'm happy. I don't even own a car, just a pickup truck. I found out that retirement wasn't about money anyway but about time. Just being able to do what I want everyday is worth far more then the couple of million I once had. If I would have known that I only needed this much money to be happy, I would have retired a long time sooner.

Looking forward to the rest of you guys and gals joining us.

    Lenny

Same here, wont have much when the time comes.Just hope we can be in the same situation you are in,enough to get by and enjoy a few things.Just hope you guys arent tired of this recreation by the time we retire. You guys just go on enjoying yourselves and feeding us little bits and pieces of your adventures to keep us going.

  14. What a terrible life you guys are now living. You no longer have the joy of working 10-12 hours a day.Nothing better to do then visit different areas to get out in the great outdoors and go on trail rides..What a pity....Does that sound like its coming from someone envious??? YOU BET IT IS.....:D

  15. I went to the big city where them thar city folks have them fancy machines that can test an alt. WELL it was GOOD, nothing tha matter. I will post on another topic the testing process. Either a wire or guage.

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

Garsh darn glad to hear dem thar city folk didnt try to take advantage of a poor old country boy like youall.I havent talked like that since my last family reunion...

  16. 2156453390104110397GNKlzC_th.jpg 2947786050104110397sJCcDJ_th.jpg 2637387930104110397FYGkwl_th.jpg

A sheet gasket material and add a bolt hole in the middle worked for me. I tried to figure out how to put a bolt in the ends and couldn't see an easy way, so I didn't, and it seem fine to me. 2714107510104110397LEFcpP_th.jpg

I had a whistle in the manifold area once when I had hooked a vacuum to the air intake and was getting ready to take it apart and had my wife listen to it and she could hear it better and it was not in the gasket like I thought, bad hearing!!!

Thank you kinarfi for the photos. For some reason i was under the impression that the whole assembly got fliped, aluminum plentum and stainless tubes but i see according to the photos it is just the plentum.

  17. Yes you have to redrill but it is almost to easy. If I remember correctly, the first hole from the rear on the stainless mounting surface gets drilled about the same distance from the bottom as it is originally from the top. The second and third hole can stay the same and the 4th hole is flipped like the first. The forth hole requires welding a small tab extension to the stainless plate to catch the 4th bolt. Make a gasket templet to fit the aluminum plentum to match to the stainless to match things up. Don't use the gasket as it probably doesn't fit either side exactely. At the same time match your intake ports. also easy to do when things are already out. Everything is so much nicer to work with once flipped.

    Lenny

I may just have to wait on doing that until after the jamboree.Just to many other things going on right now.

    Thank you Lenny,

  18. Sounds like you may be ok but I would flush out the intake stuff as good as possible. I even caulk around most of my intake connections that use hose clamps just in case the hose gets folded a bit in a spot which I did find once.

With the hotels that Rocmoc brings, we may have to stand his on end. In my case, mine is about the same size rather it's end or it's side or upright.

    Lenny

I know some have reversed their intake into the upward possition but was looking at it and dont see how the bolt pattern would work. Was there a need to re-drill holes?

  19. Looks to me like each of the 2 main sites will take 4 big rigs each if not 6.

    Lenny

I was there this past weekend and Cal got me into one of what they call the golf course sites that is suppose to handle two rigs end to end. W ell that wouldnt happen. the place was booked and those sites had two rigs on each but most had to disconnect their trailers and put them along side their rig.

  20. was changing the oil and happened to notice a hose clamp not where it was supposed to be. Turns out clamp came off reducer on hose from filter and was sucking dust in.I removed throttle body and intake and there is plenty of dust in them. Other then cleanning them out any suggestions on what else i should do? As i said i was in the process of changing oil and filter. I have not noticed any loss of power or anything else as far as it running.

  21. I will be taking my 08 alt in tomorrw to be tested. We have an old-time gen / alt shop in Tucson. Has been there forever. Will post what they tell me. I have a spare start that I will sale and deliver to the Jamboree. I will bring it just in case!

    rocmoc n AZ/Mexico

I have a spare also as well as a new spare alternator but think its best to hold on to them. That might be a good idea to start a thread for everyone thats comingto post any extra parts they want to sell and if someone interested they could brin g them along.

  22. I contacted a guy on craigslist that has an add going selling parts for chinese buggys including joyners about alternator and starter. I sent him the part numbers from the online parts manual and he said he has them. Alternator #S11-3701110BB for $120.00 and starter #S11-3708110GA for $110.00. He is supposed to be able to get the ECU and other parts also.He has the number 617 455-4590 and asks to be reached by text message.here's the link to the add
