In 2016 I bought a midsized Ranger ETX. I don't recall exactly my out the door price but it was probably less than 8k. I've used it as a work machine around our home and 38acres. It's always run great and requires little maintenance. Still running strong.

So, for no reason I checked out a local dealer. I like the midsized UTVs so that's where I started. I was shocked the cheapest 570 I saw was a shade under 18k. I know an ETX Ranger was a budget SxS but wow, that's a 10k jump. When I was shopping back in '16 I think a 570 was about 1k more than my ETX.

Well I guess I will be running this ETX till it breaks.

Anyhow, I'm a big fan of the Rangers. When the time comes I'll be back but I had no idea. I haven't posted in a while. The ETX must not have sold a lot because you don't see many things posted. Hope other ETX owners had the same reliability I have had. I'm guessing if a cheap Ranger series like mine has been reliable then the guys with bigger ones are enjoying those as well.

So, great machines, probably priced per the market but I had no idea. Ha

BFisherman, I’m always shocked at the price of UTVs & ATVs and today the top end ones are $25,000-$35,000.!!

Certainly Polaris is a quality brand - and higher priced (as are CamAM) but other top brands include Honda & Yamaha and possibly Suzuki & Kawasaki.  They have slightly lower prices and are highly rated depending on model (my Yamaha Griz & Kodiak are 20 & 17 yrs old run great).  In the Summer of 2021 I did research on the Tracker line (made by Textron - Arctic Cat) and sold by Cabela’s/Bass Pro.  They were well reviewed in magazines - but then it’s rare to find any ATV/UTV without good reviews.  I considered them somewhat of an “off brand” but since I’m Not racing them and will keep in my garage - bought the 800SX LE.  It’s been 2 years and all good - No issues at all....but still only 70 hours and 300 miles so “more time needed”.  The 800SX LE is their top of the line, runs up to 50mph and very quiet - at idle it is by far the “quietest” UTV made.  Ride is very smooth on 28” tires and it came with hard top, side doors, windshield, 4500lb winch - out the door price including tax $17,400.  I believe their 570cc models are lower by $5000.   For my general work around the property, some off road riding (Not racing) it’s great plus the hydraulic dumb bed holds & “dumps” 1000lbs.  My neighbor has a Polaris 10000 similarly equipped - it is faster and more “car like” but also $10,000 MORE.

I also seriously considered the Yamaha Wolverine 1000 and general farm work and some fun Off Road racing - that would be my pick, cheaper then the Polaris and appears as Off Road capable and plenty FAST.....was around $21,000 out the door when I last priced them.

I find it encouraging to hear that you've gotten 20yrs of work. I mostly only use mine as a worker with the occasional ride over to the neighbors. I'm lucky in that the road in front of my home is an ATV route. I guess it would be an interesting thread to poll the folks on this site on the years of service. I think that's interesting.

That's for the reply!

Joe, I hear you. I'm retired so last year when I needed a new truck I went the slightly used way. I had a 2016 Ram 1500 I bought for about 40k and I was going to get a 2500 this time. I also wanted a few more options. I stopped looking new when I was seeing 70k. It's shocking how this government keeps burdening tax payers with spending and is so out of tune with the costs were are dealing with.

Bill. Let me clarify a bit - my 2004 Yamaha Grizzly & 2006 Kodak “run” but both look like “hell” as a result of both having had crashes & roll overs (when My Son & I use to ride like “nuts”).  Now they just get normal trail rides and some farm work....The most extensive work done on both has been “re wire” due to extensive MOUSE Damage - the mice naw & eat the plastic off the wires and hard to keep them away.  Both ATVs now have those “green” mouse poison blocks hidden throughout the engine and under the seat. Regards

I use this stuff called ONE BITE ..it wipes those little pita fur balls out..I find them dead near water..Only place I can buy it is the local farm feed store. It lives up to its name.☠️

Joe, I’m gonna look for a try “One Bite” , so far I’ve spent $800 repairing wire & electrical damage to my ATVs caused by mice in my garage.  A friend has spent $4000 getting his John Deer tractor wiring redone because of Mouse damage as well.  I am somewhat restricted because I have two dogs and Grandchildren around and therefore need to be very careful with any type of chemicals…..otherwise I would have my Garage GLOWING like a Nuclear Reactor !!

Michigan's Government enacted "cage free eggs" law effective 1/1/25;

We bake a lot and buy the 60 large egg packs at Walmart.  10 days ago, the 60 egg packs were $11 each.  Today, they are $26 each.  Most of the egg shelves were empty. Only a handful of stock in there.  The cashier even said she didn't know if she'd keep baking like this.

We won't be baking much anymore if the cost for eggs is up 136% over a 10 day period!!  Might start having to drive the back roads looking for farm stands selling eggs.

Runs fine just putting around the yard. Get it out on the road and about a half miles it runs out of gas. Let it idle for a few minutes and it will run for another half mile and do it again. Replaced both fuel pumps and filter. Does anyone know if I can get rid of the factory fuel pump?

Hi everyone and I hope that is not a too forward questions for us newbies.
My husband and I are ready (next Spring) to open our newly developed nudist campground in Iowa and we are now looking for interesting activities to host.
Don't worry we are not going to try and sell you a membership because as of 2 weeks ago all of our 50 campsites are sold out for the 2024 season.
It was my job to sell site and now that is complete i am looking for interesting actives host for weekend.
We have 300 acres of woods, grassland, swamps and 2 small ponds/lakes and dozens of miles of riding trails.
we have gotten county approval for the complete 300 acres to be clothing optional.
We think we have a great spot for a weekend or several day ATV / mudder event.
Clothing would be optional for all participants and plenty of room for overnight camping and outdoor group showers.
Now we are looking to you pro  ATV riders to let us know if you think your group of people would fit in with ours.
Feel free to ask anything you would like to get a better idea of what we offer.
