Adding an oil filter

Just curious if this can be done. Even if it's a remote filter, I would feel better if it actually has a filter.

Anything can be done with enough time and money, but it's totally unnecessary for a small engine. By the time a piece of the engine large enough for a filter to worry with gets in the flow, the damage is already done. There's a magnetic trap that collect very small metallics and this should only occur during break in.

Gotcha! However, I have a twin cylinder Briggs and Stratton engine on a riding mower that is equipped with an oil filter. Why would this be different?

So the function of oil filters in small engines is to catch any junk that is inserted into the oil by sloppy oil change or other maintenance procedures. Don't put junk into the oil fill tube and you don't have to worry.

My Axis 500 has a remote oil cooler attached to radiator. Metal oil lines from engine, up to top of radiator, then rubber hose from there into the oil cooler. If the Massimo is similar guess you could add a remote oil filter from those hoses.

I don't believe there's a remote oil cooler, so I would have nothing to attach the oil filter to.
