They can't both be at the same place. Try rotating the crank. One is open while the other is closed. It's supposed to work that way.

Sorry Travis, I just glanced at the picture. I thought you were talking about the clip on top of the spring. The one That's on the valve stem.

The guides don't move, I'm sure you know that. I'd take out the one that's not correct, and see why. From the picture it's hard to tell.

I found a video, where the guides where uneven, and the tallest one wasn't letting the intake go down far enough cause the top of the valve  spring kept hitting the guide...

I think we can call this case closed. Verdict i believe is. The tallest is the guilty party. What do you think gentleman of the jury :)    ?

Just looking at the link. I'd say put the clips on, and drop em in. Well lubed. They're the same part number, so they'll be the same height and everything else. They'll drop all the way down till they bottom out on the clip. If not find out why. 

Sometimes just taking something apart does the trick. When you put it back together, it just works. Don't even know why it worked. It just does! But not always, so there's that.

The good news is that this WILL work! 

The bad news is that I'm hanging it up for tonight. You keep at it, and when it's right you'll know it. Don't be afraid of pulling it back out. The spring probably sits on top of the clip, to hold it all down.

It's too early to throw in the towel just yet! The buggered up guide could probably have the rough spots dressed out. Or just replace the guide. If it's still in the head, then you could probably get the tool to remove it. That tool will also help replace the new one.

As long as the head itself didn't get any real damage then nothing has changed, just a setback.

I contacted Our local machines shop, Ted's Engine repair, he said he's not 100% sure if he can do it, since it is a smaller head. I m gonna take it to hm tomorrow and see he can, take em out.

And then what i'll do if he can take em out, i ordered a new guide (s) because they wore past the service limit (measured today), so i'll have new ones he can put in too.

Sounds like a plan, but now you're adding the amount that Ted's charging. So as a learning experience, you've got to consider that. Will everything just work, when finished? Remember buying the whole thing new, it's a finished product.

This is why I suggested that you eat the seventy bucks in the first place, and go new. What other problems are waiting to be found? Just to be clear, I really want you to get the experience, but there's always a price to pay. Typically, it's having to tear back into that motor. But that's all a part of learning this stuff. It's a skill, and knowledge that will serve you well in many other fields, as well as mechanics. So my recommendation is to keep going at this point. As a point of pride you'll be more satisfied with the end result by doing it yourself. You'll be so glad you stuck it out in the end. Even if it doesn't work out right away.

 

  So many times we just end up selling a failed project, but that knowledge can't be lost. So maybe the next project gets the satisfaction. Either way you're better off having finished this yourself. 

   Wish I could say that the chicks really get into mechanics! But unfortunately that's not the case lol. Even wives don't appreciate it, they just expect it. So this project is investing in yourself, and it's a worthwhile investment.

   It's gonna be great!

Yeah, My brother, and a friend of ours have used Ted's for LOOONG time. Always reasonably priced. I called and they said, he has the tools to remove/install, but  since it's a small utv he might not can do it.

But i have a back up company,  Power Toys of Texas, they said they might could do it too.

New head was 200, before shipping and tax.

I figured the 30 dollars would be cheap insurance against me doing it, and messing something up worse. Let the Pro's do it, Unless you REALLY know what your doing.

Smartest statement I've heard today. As Clint Eastwood said "A man has to know his limitations."   Valve jobs are not for the inexperienced in my book.

      2015 Massimo stalled and wont start. oil, new plug, getting gas verified. cranks but does not start

      Riding out today it acted like it ran out of gas,  stalled and died and would not start.   Towed back to house,  New  plug added this past month,  plenty of oil, getting plenty of gas, battery cranks good.   Trys to kick in and starts but doesnt.   Two days prior while sitting at a idle it died.  Added gas and it started did my ranch chores with it.  But just now it stalled out cranks but will not start.   Tried to find if fault codes came up on the clock like manual says but not sure I am doing that right.  Any and all help apprecated.  Thank you

      Major Cabin Intake Noise Reduction

      Most of us complain about the ridiculous noise in the cabin. My wife likes to ride but the noise is a major downer. You can’t even have a conversation without shouting at each other. Well, I manage to reduce the cabin noise by approx 200%!

      I addressed the intake that is poorly placed right between the driver and passenger. First, I cut the air filter inlet pipe in half (pic 1). I then reinstalled it upside down (pic 2). I then attached a flexible intake tube (pic 3) and directed it behind the cabin (pic 4). Major difference.
       
      Then I covered the interior engine cover with Dynamat extreme and then 200 mil Chaogang sound deadener / heat shield mat on top of that (pic 5). Since I cut off the intake and redirected it, I completely closed off the intake (engine fence) so no engine noise can come thru (pic 6). It also reduced the heat approx 50%. I did leave on the heat mat that came stock on the engine cover, so it has 3 different mats. It was a snug fit. Major difference again.

      My wife rides all the time now since we can have a conversation when we ride. Major improvement to my riding experience. Thought you might like to check it out.

      2021 Axis 500 Head Bolt Torque specs

      Got a 2021 Axis 500.
      I'm needing the head bolt torque specs.
      Manual states 38nm.
      But saw a video Hisun put out on YT for a 550 stating 50nm + 45° turn of wrench. Didn't think they would be that much difference on a 500 and a 550.
      Seen another YT video on a 2013 500. He did 38nm.
      Really only want to do this job once and done. And done correct.
      Anybody got the answer?
      Going to start this rebuild in a few once this weather brakes. Flooding and then snow and cold here now. But spring is around the corner and the wife has to have this fixed or a Honda pioneer may be parked in driveway soon. She has to be able to ride.

      I have a Coleman Outfitter 550 purchased in January 2022 that runs and operates pretty well.  65 hours on it so far.   It is a work vehicle for my 10 hilly acres with two 1 acre woods and 5 acres of "lawn".  The rest is under a lake. 
      My parking brake does not seem to have any grip.  It worked when new but after a month or so, it is just almost useless.     I press the parking brake pedal hard until it stops. Still, it won't hold even on slight inclines.   I don't see the caliper move as I press the brake pedal down.  There seems to be plenty of pad left on it and the rotor is shiny as if it is rubbing a little when applied, but not enough to stop it from rolling. 
      Any thoughts on possible causes?
