Seriously considering buying 2022 Axis 700 from Lowes… any regrets from current owners?

Spent today at a Honda dealership looking at their 520 side by side, then on the way home past our Lowes noticed they had several new UTVs on site, so we U-turned and ducked in there. We were impressed that all that came for $9,999 metal whole length skid plate, nice sized bed, roof, windshield, side mirrors, winch, upgrade looking tires… all of which would have added thousands of dollars to an already expensive Honda 520. Now Honda does have a great reputation from my trusted UTV experienced buddy, so it has that going for it.

Hisun makes them for Lowe's.... read through the Hisun and Massimo forum. Honestly i don't think their products, nor there after sale services are very good. I doubt Lowe's would be any help if you needed a warranty claim, or tech help.

I'd go with the Honda just for the fact of the unmatched reliable reputation they've built.

Just looked at the Lowes add for that, pretty much looks like an  MSU 500/700 that Hisun made for Massimo back then.  Take a good look at the badging on parts to see who it's actually made by, my guess is it's still Hisun.

I purchased a Massimo  last November and have had issues since then. The winch that came with it broke after 2 uses and I am still having issues putting it in gear. The flooring also cracked during a tour of my property one day and now I have a hole in the floor on the passenger side.

I think the money I saved initially on this machine was quickly lost to the horrible quality. I wish I did a lot more research and I regret not waiting to purchase a reputable brand; even if I had to spend more money.

In retrospect, if I had a choice, I would pick the Honda in a heart beat

Good luck.

I picked up the Axis 750 quad cab a little under a year ago. Put about 40 hours on it.  Runs way better after break in adjustment and fluid changes, 20 hrs. Only issue was a $20 broken air/oil separator.  Helps to be handy with maintenance cause service centers are scarce around me.  If you purchase, inspect everything before you drive off. Others have had bad experiences in my area. I'm completely satisfied with mine. It will go anywhere.

I bought my 500 from Lowes.  Just couldn't justify the price of others for the little use I got it for.  It was only $7999 this time last year but have gone up $1000 since then.  Had too adjust the shift linkage and tighten exhaust manifold but other than that no problems.  Have a service dealer 30 miles away and will have the valves adjusted there.  Easier to shift after the first oil change.  Seems like break in oil was much thicker.  Maybe just my imagination.  I keep it on a trickle charger all the time and it starts and runs great.  Good luck if you decide to buy. 700 wasn't available at my Lowes or I would have got that. I also bought a plow for it and it performs great.

I also bought an Axis 500 from lowes. Not bad for the money. I have been trying to figure out how to get Warranty work done, this is a mystery who or where they are. Z&W Motor sports is who i'm told to use. They say I can pay for them to pick it up or I can meet a freight truck somewhere along their route. They will then take it to the repair location. They say they are not insured to allow owners on their properties....  I purchased it 5-30-21. The fuel gauge hasn't worked from new, also has a squeaking sound coming from the right rear wheel area, sounds like a dry U joint or CV joint. It could be a brake noise but I don't think so. I live near Tulsa Okla.  I would greatly suggest you make sure there really is local support in your area. Z&W wants to take it to an undisclosed place to work on it then if parts are not readily available, then what? I only have about 35 miles on it. Let me know how it works out for you..  If anyone can clear up the Warranty Mystery Please Do. Thanks.

I went ahead and bought it.  Called my local service center and  ery interesting conversation with him. He will come to my farm and pick up my NiSun UTV (in my case an Axis 700) and carry it back to his service center for warranty items, non-wear and tear consumables work. He’ll get reimbursed through NiSun.  He took the time to really talk to me and mentioned some common easy to avoid problems. Super helpful.

When I bought mine, they gave me the name of  3 authorized  repair shops within 100 miles  .. NOT ONE of them will work on them now.. They never got paid for any warranty work.   I had to pay CASH up front to get it fixed 6 times in first year. Only one shop will even consider working on them if you pay cash.. Parts  take forever to come in.

I think the best thing to do if you already own one of these junk Chinese machines other than driving it off a cliff or into the pond is to stock up on tools and service manuals and start learning how to repair them; and if a situation arises that parts need replacing hopefully a better quality one fits. Youtube home mechanics and forums like this are also a great help.

Good luck to us all

thats about all we can do now.. cant sell them unless you want to give it away . No Honda dealer will take one on trade-in.    As HISUN parts fail on mine, I have replaced them  with YAMAHA parts.. This engine is a near exact clone of the earlier Yamaha Rhino engine .. When it does have a catastrophic failure, I will order a reman Rhino engine and swap it out. I was told by a  rebuilder that it will bolt right in .                    I hope the new guy here that took the plunge does not drown in the misery that is owning HISUN products . Best wishes dude. or condolences as it may turn out

Rgr all.  I’ll just have to see how it goes. I plan on rigidly adhering to the maintenance schedule and do my part to the letter. And I’ll tell you fellas, after talking to the shop that will be my warranty service center they were very complimentary about the machine. Coupled with that, and the 2 year warranty vs. Hondas 1 year warranty… well it just made more sense to me. I respect all of your comments but time will tell. Hoping for the best.

I bought the 700 today from Lowe’s.  Hauled it 3 hours to our property in VA.  Unloaded it drove about 4-5 miles and it completely died.  Will not start or jump.  This happened in the middle of an old logging road, no houses around about 10 minutes before dark.  I had to walk 2-3 miles to get cell phone service and help.  I did notice that  just before it shut off that the “ multi function meter unit” started going dim.  Not how I envisioned my first day with a brand new Axis 700.

So far good.  I had the 10 hour oil change done, and the authorized service center tightened things down. They also installed the HiSun heater and Snow Plow that I bought through Lowes.  The UTV is still running great, no problems yet.  So far so good, I’d definitely buy it again.

Update on my Axis 700.  Contacted Lowe’s to explain what happened.   Store manager, Fatima,  in Mechanicsville VA was awesome.  She paid for my gas for the round trip back which was $170 and then doubled it.  She then gave me a new 700 with full tank of gas.   It ran good yesterday so we’ll see.   I told her if any happens again, I will be taking it to the nearest Lowe’s for a full refund and she said she would make sure it was taken care of.
The original 700 did start after a trickle charge.   Had to be a bad alternator, or loose wiring.   These things do happen.  I wish I could purchase a more expensive utv, however I lost my job because I refused to take the vaccine, so I’m on a budget.  This definitely fits my budget.  Great deal when you add my 10% military discount.

Hey guys! Newbie here. I'm an old man who's better with plowing a mule (4-legged kind) than these newfangled beasts. I, and a friend of mine, just bought new Coleman sxs and are having to finish the assembly. I've been reading on this site and I'm falling on the mercy of you experts. The only way I'm an expert is that an "ex" is a has been, and a spurt is a drip under pressure. LOL First off, the 2 buggies have no ignition switches. They seem to mount on the dash, not the opening in the steering wheel shaft cover, so we ordered new ones that are supposed to fit. They are 8 inches long, and have a 4-wired white plugin which is slightly rectangled when looking at the end of the plug. The trouble is there's nothing to plug into. There is a three-wire grey plug close enough to reach the four-wire plug, but of course, they are not compatible.
Secondly, the blinker, light, ect. unit on steering wheel just spins around when touched. I see no way in heaven or earth to secure it. I've looked at a diagram on the Powersports site, but can't detect how it mounted. Fellows I'd be so grateful for any help with this. Me and my mule will even plow your garden for free, for your help. LOL

      Hi All,
New to UTVs and recently accuired a ut400 from our local Alaska Commercial Co. and had a questions regarding the transmission fluid. I have had a squeeling noise, sounds like a teapot, that recently started after being driven for a few minutes. The manual says to change the fluid at 500 miles, so I was thinking maybe its just time for this to be changed. Other then that I cannot find any information regarding the type used. While reading through these forums, I seen someone put that the transmission is lubricated with the engine oil. Is this true? If not what should I be using and where can I find the information to change it out? Any input on this would be greatly appretiated!
      Thanks in advance

At the end of last year my Coleman UT 500 will not go into reverse. I can hold it over toward the reverse to move it nut it won't lock into reverse. Anyone have this problem? Winter is just about over and going to have to get this resolved. Thank You!
