  1. Here is an example of what I'm talking about at Race Desert RDC

    http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=52151

On this page you can click on View First Unread, and it will jump you to the point of the last page you were on previously, it is helpful with multiple pages. Example I had previously read the first 6 pages, and today when I entered this forum I clicked on this link and it took me to the first new post of that thread

  2. Agreed, I remember the days on the farm with 600+ acres, I wish we would have had something like this back then instead of Firing up the old John Deere A or B model which was another story.

Glad to see you are happy. What I find is that most people are happy with their choices because it fits what they want, not what someone else wants.

  3. Ok, I put up some of my first photos in Trooperfolk under my name. Just some simple shots from a couple months ago.

Hopefully we can get a great collection of items that helps everyone.

    Kinarfi,

Thanks for setting this up, a great idea.

  4. Hi Everyone,

Need some help, Thursday we were going up a very slight incline on a forest rode and the T4 just stopped. It backfires when you try and get it to run, luckily we were able to coast back down the mountain because we had Lance with us and no cell service. Called Joyner and they were great about trying to trouble shoot it on the phone, luckily cell service at the bottom of the hill. They thought it might be the computer and had us pull it and take it to Cedar City to get it tested, it wasn't the computer. Fuses were all good. George ran all the connections, checked the battery. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Of course we're here in the car instead of the truck so we'll have to come back and haul the T4 to Cedar if we can't figure it out.

Called our friend and he came and rescued us. God Bless Good Friends.

    Repair

Thanks to the help from an highly experienced bike mechanic and his sons staying in the RV Park right behind us they were able to diagnose the problem. WARNING TO EVERYONE CHECK YOUR MACHINES trace the wire from the exhaust sensor back to its harness, its really well hidden under the intake manifold, ours had rubbed across the positive terminal of the starter, causing arcing and welded the four wires together for the O2 harness. Once that was cut and spliced together we're on the road again. We're calling Casey at Joyner on Monday to warn them of the problem and to get a new wiring harness ordered.

Thanks for all your help we really appreciated it.

    Cinda,

Thanks for that tip, it is a little dark outside, so maybe on Saturday I can take a look.

  5. Yesterday, I had this happen twice, the engine died and wouldn't restart unless it was done by dumping clutch, wouldn't start with the starter.

    Any ideas.

The first time, we were going up a slight hill after going slow though some obstacles and the engine had started acting like it had flooded and didn't sound right, the second was after getting home and it died as we were backing off the trailer.

The first time scared me because were way out in the booneys and NO ONE was anywhere around. Time for me to buy a SPOT http://www.findmespot.com/Home.aspx

If I understand both times the front would have been higher than the back end. Could it be fuel pressure?

  6. When my locker wouldn't engage, I took it in for repair and I got to see what was inside the locker and how it worked, pretty interesting, but if you look, it'll probably cost you a gasket and oil which you'll probably want to change anyway. If you do, take photos. If you (you and all of us) are interested, I will create a site under the name of Trooper folks and share the pass word so we all can upload photos to OUR site. Heck I'M going to just do it, I'll PM the pass word to each of you who want it. Just let me know if you do.

    Jeff

I like this idea also, one day I will get brave to make some mods and such. After a year or so with the quad my wife would find me in the back patio with parts everywhere, and ask what are you doing. Good question because I really didn't know, but after enough times you kind of get the hang of it. I hope to make some with the Trooper, and I definently can provide pics of what not to do the first time.

  7. Detbohica, I was looking at your area on Google Earth, when you go out to play in the dunes, do you go to Glamis or to your south east area, do you ever ride the Gulf of California?

    Kinarfi,

Let's see since I have had the T4, I have only ridden on some small dunes in Mexicali, but I have ridden my quad, and a motorcycle all over Glamis a few years ago the north side near Highway 76. I have also ridden El Golfo which is to the southeast of me in Mexico on my quad. I need to buy a rim and a a couple of tires, and will try to get out again soon to Glamis.

It looks like I'm going to Ocotillo Wells near the Anza Borrego Desert on November 8th, so I need to buy them quick, or I will be riding the quad.

Also I would love to take part in a Trooper meeting, you guys have knowledge that I need. I kind of have 2 many thumbs, but with instuctions I can figure it out. I would be have to travel around to AZ, Ca, or Mexico for a weekend or so.

  8. Well as an American and living here in Mexicali I feel very comfortable. Mexicali is a complete different city that most of the border towns, since it is in the middle of no where, and the extreme heat there is no tourism, it is just the people that have their familys. I am very comfortable being here, like any city in the world there are some sections I always stay away from, but for many years I lived in Orange County, and It has its DisneyLand, then it has its shares of problems. If someone were wanting to ride in Mexico, I would always suggest come through Tecate, or Mexicali and access the BAJA from here.

  9. I enjoy riding in Laguna Salada and the Canon Guadalupe in Mexicali. You need to know the area if you are going to go deep into the Salada, otherwise you find yourself half way to San Felipe. There is a nice dune hill on the north..."this is no Glamis" just one hill. There are many tracks that have been run by Score, Code, and ZR racing through the Salada, along the mountains, and through some woops. You can spend an entire day here without hitting the same area twice, another great run is from Rumarosa down into Laguan Hanson. This is more scenic, or fast paced depends on how you want to run it. I guess overall the BAJA is the place to ride, since there is massive amounts of area to ride all the way to Cabo.

  10. Wow, After spending enough years in the desert, it is all about riding it hard, and hoping only the vechile breaks, and not the people. the idea is to ride hard, have fun. Hell I have towed, been towed, needed my toys fixed, and fixed others people's toys.

Say you piece about what you like, and enough said.

    I'm happy with my Trooper.

  11. Pics!

I can see that you connected a seat belt to the bottom of the shock through the mounting hole, but I cant tell what you did on the top end, I would think it is to the frame somewhere. I like this idea, I guess I could measure the distance from the bottom mounting bolt to the frame where I plan to mount it, and maybe provide 1/2" slack at the most. My crazy thoughts, since my mind pushes a pen and not a wrench. I am learning but need direction....
