  1. Well, the problem will still exist, it's just that you won't any longer 🤔. Not sure that will be the best approach!
  2. So the other starter was binding up? Did you install the new one yet? Just curious about how different it is.
  3. How about a bearing on one of the output shafts? My riding mower had a bad bearing on one of the spindles for the deck, but it didn't have any play at all. But it would definitely make noise when the blades were engaged. Just a thought.
  4. Or maybe one of the u-joints on the drive shafts? Just sounds like something that only happens when some weight is applied.
  5. Could it be something like a wheel bearing? Maybe it only gets noisy when it's under a load?
  6. Good for you! Hopefully it will arrive soon and you can be back on the trails.
  7. Is Arrowhead the exclusive manufacturer of starters for small engines, or are they a rebuilding company?
  8. Yeah, I would do that. Hopefully you can get your hands on a new one soon.
  9. Well, that ain't actually a good thing, is it? Still being manufactured by kids with inadequate materials and poor (if any) quality control, unless Arrowhead has someone there who keeps a close eye on the process.
  10. Lol! Is it at least USA made?
  11. Fingers crossed 🤞
  12. So this should be a well built and dependable unit, I would expect. I have never had an issue with a starter on any of my mowers.
  13. Is this a rebuilt unit, or new? Seems I remember them making starters for mowers.
  14. Sorry, didn't know that. I guess if you want a name brand, you'll be paying for it. I hope it's not too expensive.
  15. I thought you already had the starter gear?
  16. Could it be the wet clutch?
  17. Has there been any progress on the starter?
  18. So, any headway on the tranny issue?
  19. And the tranny oil looks good, right?
  20. Could it be something as simple as an adjustment to a cable or linkage? Maybe it's not fully engaged, thus the noise? Just throwing out some ideas here.
  21. Better check your thermostat, too. It may not be opening, which would not allow the coolant to circulate and run through the radiator.
  22. Well, is the radiator getting hot? Feel the hoses at the radiator, and if they are hot, the water pump is pushing coolant. I see you have a new head gasket, etc., but it almost sounds like a blown head gasket which is causing enough pressure to keep the coolant from reaching the head. Also, sometimes it takes several attempts to get all the air out of the system. It can be a royal pain to deal with. Just don't let it overheat! These engines don't respond well to an overheating issue. I'm sure a member here (Joe Breaux) can shed some light on your problem.
  23. Joe's a real critic when it comes to Chinese ingenuity 😜 LOL
  24. I'm sorry to hear that. Could it be somehow binding up when you tighten it down? Maybe the body of the starter is somehow bending a small amount when you torque it down, and tapping it with a hammer loosens it enough to crank over? You said it spins fine when you tested it off the machine, correct?
  25. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
