  1. Nice pic bigdan! We don't get to see that stuff here in AZ much. What is that anyway? Mud????
  2. Lenny, is this footage from the Jamboree? You guys are badder than i thought!
  3. Hi Sean. You might take a look at the Falken Rocky Mountain AT. I run 30x9.5x15 on my T4 and they are fantastic at 25psi. 8 ply and great traction, even in sandy washes. Adds a bit to ground clearance, too. Good luck!!
  4. Ok folks, job done. Me-1, Rats-1. Removed old chewed wires and coil pack. Went to Oreilly's and got coil and wires for 2001 Ford Escort. Coil Pak-Master Pro 2-5186 and Wires Omni Spark 9454 for about $60 total. Then went to local salvage yard and clipped harness plug from coil on Escort. $4.50 for plug. Removed mounting plate from rear of head to cut opening for new coil to fit, drilled two 1/4" holes and bolted that baby in place. Spliced wires for plug in same sequence as old plug (L-L, M-M, R-R). Per Lenny's post I had to trim some rubber from plug end of wires and then installed new wires. Wires weren't snug in valve cover so I re-installed plastic cover to hold in place. Wires are a little long but not a problem. I swear this thing runs better now, smoother idle and a bit more responsive. Starts better, too! In preparation for June trip to N Rim Grand Canyon with my Bro and Nephew I took the rig to Williams, AZ today for some high altitude testing. What a day!! Joyner performed flawlessly. Also had high beam and turn signal switch fail this week. Replaced with common toggle switches and off to the races! Oh the joy of making Joyners normal......
  5. I went to local Oreilly's Auto to buy MSD coil and wires but price was about $85 for coil/$125 for wires. That's too much for my little Chinese buggy so I went with standard coil and wire set for 2001 Ford Escort 4cyl. Had to trim some insulation from plug end of wires and go to junk yard (Homeless Depot) for correct harness plug for coil. Hooked it all up and voila! Works great!! Runs smoother than before. I need to modify bracket on rear of head to mount coil properly so no pics yet. I will do that tomorrow and post part #'s, prices and pictures. Thanks for all the advice on this! Fortune Cookie: to avoid criticism, do nothing, say nothing, be nothing......
  6. Thanks Silverbullet. I found MSD coil and wires from "Irish Parts House" and will attemp to modify. If that doesn't work I will order OEM from you.
  7. Thanks guys. I had the cover off mine, too. That's how the RATS go to them. Sucks having to park it outside, but wife demands her indoor parking.....Lenny, I will try to adapt the Accel and Belkin parts for easier replacement in the future. Also sounds like it will produce better spark for cleaner burn. Now it's time to go varmint hunting........
  8. Rocmoc, I tried that yesterday at local "Irish" auto parts house but nothing matched up. Either wrong on coil end or too long on plug end, wouldn't seal spark plug hole in valve cover to prevent dirt/water from invading. Any specific application or part # you can recommend?
  9. My fellow forum members. The recent contest between my Trooper's plug wires and local gang of pack rats ended in a one sided victory for aforementioned pack rats! Does anyone have a set of spark plug wires they would sell? Or maybe an aftermarket source? I searched the forum but can't find anything. Thanks in advance for your support. Dave in Phx
  10. Nothing like a group of enthusiasts banding together to support small business! Truely an example of the free market at work. Thanks for your support Lenny. BTW are you the one who sells/sold the steering box cover upgrade on Ebay?
  11. Lenny, I will take two (f+r). Casey told me you stopped by JMC last week and he was very impressed with your trooper. Wish I could have seen it. Let me know when kits are ready and I will send $$ and fix my doffs!
  12. Silverbullet, how much does the conversion sell for? Trooper T4??
  13. I had same problem. Had to replace the fuel sending unit in tank. Leaked from red wire port on top. I got mine from Casey at JMC. Good luck. Be sure to measure length before you call to order.
  14. Very cool Choptop!! That looks like a blast. Keep pushin those Rhino's and Razr's and good luck this race season. You might contact some of the Joyner dealers listed on this site for sponsorship if you haven't already. FYI--Casey at JMC told me they are in production on Sandviper type machine, 1100cc Chery, auto or manual trans option, 2wd or 4wd option, etc. Not sure about 2 or 4 person seating (forgot to ask or don't remember answer). Supposed to be fast & low...Says they will have pics on webstie soon and expect delivery late this year. Also will be stocking LED Spot, Flood and light bar setups soon. I saw demo unit and pre-ordered a 24" unit to replace lights on top of cab. Also ordering a elec to manual conversion for 4wd control (pre-emptive strike pre-failure). Rocmoc, this might be the rig for you!!
  15. Great! Looking forward to pics. What tires did you select? I'm interested to see what you did for T-bar. I've been thinking mine needs that too. Regarding your shocks, have you had the nitrogen charge checked/filled? I took mine to local off road shop and they were at about 80-90 psi. He filled them to 150 psi and I am very happy with ride. The "Boss" even comments on how good it rides! You might try that first if you haven't already.
  16. I have a used alt from my 08 T4. Thought alt bearings were bad. Turns out it was the belt. Replaced with new one I found here in Phx from guy who bought Joyner stock when they went out of business. If interested, we could meet somewhere, you could try it out and I would refund purchase price if not satisfied. PM offline to discuss.
  17. Oops I forgot the link. Bruhaw you could be right. Not listed as "Bosch" genuine. Here's the link anyway. Thanks for the info. http://www.naautoparts.com/m8/0%20580%20254%20910%20%28A%29--fuel-pump-for-mercedes-benz-71-86.html
  18. That makes sense. I will post results when done. Thanks again!!
  19. Lenny. Regarding your previous post, can I just clip one wire from speedo sensor harness to disconnect computer? If so, do you know which one? I can't get enough info from Joyner elec diagrams. Always looking to make things easier if others have travelled the same road. Thanks! PS: think of it, the peace of mind having only one child/juvenile delinquent per household. I came from a family of nine.......
  20. Here's a link for the Bosch pumps for $59. Hope this helps. Bosch is high quality.
  21. I had my tank out for leak repair and problem was cracks around mounting tabs. Had them removed, welded new tabs with triangle gussetts (sp?) underneath each tab. Used rubber washers for cushion/vibration isolators under each mount. Seems to be fine now. Also moved filler from back of tank to top so I can fill it at gas station instead of using gas can (it wouldn't handle the flow from pump before). Oh the joys of upgrading Joyner's!
  22. I think the computer has to translate from Chinese to English so if I disconnect speedo sensor from computer then will it drive on the wrong side of the road?? It will probably be Sunday before I can get back to the rewire. Will post more info then. Thanks everyone!!
  23. I believe many of us Joyner owners wish we were younger, steadier and could make better use of 6 inches.....
  24. Thanks Lenny. I will try to rewire the sensor directly to speedo. That should solve all my problems unless computer gets angry about lost signal. Oh for the good old days before computers and electronics.....not that they are a bad thing but it makes for increased difficulty for an old fart like me! Thank you all for your help and ideas. Happy motoring!!
  25. Unplugged speedo sensor and problem fixed! Now what to do? Can I live without speedo?? Will new sensor fix the problem? Does sensor send signal to computer or only to speedo in dash? So many questions, so little time.....Thanks to all for advice.
