Glowing exhaust 2012 Hisun 400cc

Recommended Posts

After operating,  the first several inches of the exhaust pipe where it leaves the engine on my Hisun 400cc glows bright red. Is this normal? There are various heat shields and other insulating material along the pipe’s pathway, so I’m guessing it is. Also, there are no other signs that the engine is running hot.

Glowing exhaust is usually a sign the engine is running rich. Check your air filter first. How does it run? What year is it?

Topic moved to Hisun forum and added UTV info into topic title.

It’s a 2012 model. It doesn’t smell like it’s running rich, plus I just fitting a new carbi so I think mixture is about right.

      Hi All,
I am trying to source a replacement starter for my 2010 Hisun 800.  The part number on the starter is MX100709 800.  Is there any other manufacturer's (Honda, Polaris, Yamaha, etc.) starter that would be a suitable replacement?
      Thanks
      Kirk

      Hi,
I'm new to the forum and live in Idaho.  It's getting colder, so I'm curious if anyone has installed a cab heater in their Hisun? I went to the dealer and they want $800 bucks and maybe more so I ordered a hot rod heater from Summit Racing. Thought I would see if anyone has experience they might share before I begin.

      Hey guys.
I have a 2009 hisun 700 I bought bout 2 weeks ago and it was running fine but was hard to start but once warm it fire rite up  i took the  air filter off and it was nasty so I gave it a good cleaning and it hasn't started since. Its cranking over really slow I replaced the starter. I also replaced the batery. It acts like its not releasing decompression  I found a service manual on line and downloaded it and it said the intake valves setting .010-.015 mm  and exhaust is .015-.020 and they all was set on .008 intake and exhaust. And the timing is set I set the intake to .012 and exhaust to .016 and it still cracks over really slow I'm lost and don't know wat else it could be. Anyone have any ideas.  And help would be great thanks .

A few pictures (so far) of the engine work - eventually I will share wiring info and other details (if anyone is interested?)  should anyone else ever need to swap an engine in one of these. The replacement engine is a Harbor freight $750 special 670cc,  (lawn mower/industrial type lump) with a few minor upgrades. Should have it back together soon, bolted in. The cold weather slows me down!

Has anyone done an engine & tranny swap on an 1100cc sand viper?

Here is our test mule, with our 2" lift kit, our exhaust system, and some lighting. We have also taken this down to the frame and removed every single nut and bolt. We have done a lot of R&D on this UTV. Please feel free to ask us any question regarding it. Thank you. Matt
